《The most human elf in Shaylet - Paused until further notice》Something is different 9

The girls followed me closely as I weaved through the machines. I was trying to be quiet just in case one of the big monsters were nearby so I had my sword out and I told them to deal with any enemies quietly until we are either discovered or I start shooting. We were in the far back of the factory which was packed with as many machines they could fit here and still be able to move between them. I felt like having all these machines so close together was just inviting an accident to happen. The only enemies we have come across so far have been small groups of zombies and the odd lone zombie. Shuffling by itself or staring off into the distance. Those were the easiest to take care of, Three and Five took them out fast and silently. The small groups we took out together, I beheaded a couple of them before they could make and noise. Five used her daggers and hit several of them in the eyes while Three did the same. One and Two just smashed their heads in with minimal effort. Four didnt even need to do anything as there were no wounded or any need for her magic but she didnt seem to care all that much.
As we pressed on I noticed that the machines were getting farther and farther apart. As they increased in distance they also increased in size, now the towering masses of machinery wouldve blocked out the sun if we werent underground. The machines werent the only things getting bigger though, the farther we walked the larger and stronger the zombies got. We wont be able to keep sneaking around much longer, the enemies are getting too strong to take by suprise and there is too much open space here. We were peeking around the edge of a machine that looked like it was there to process some sort of ore and I saw a hulking zombie with huge muscles. It was currently walking through a mass of zombies, crushing bunches under its massive feet without caring as it walked through them. The zombies didnt even bother to move out of the way, all of them heading in some arbitrary direction. The muscle zombie was completely nude but it had so much muscle that there was nothing to see anyway, like its crotch was swallowed by its guts. Its head was normal sized, so only its body was huge with muscle. It was a very odd look.

I took out my shotgun, there was no getting around this. We had to get past that thing and the zombies surrounding it to get through. I motioned for them to get ready and got myself ready too. I waited until the muscled zombie took another step and then stepped out, looking it directly in the eye. Which seemed to piss it off immensely, it charged at me screaming at the top of its lungs with an oddly high pitched voice and crushing loads of zombies underfoot. Its arms oddly hung limp at its side, swinging with each step he took as he ran at me. I got my gun ready and was about to start shooting when the damn muscle zombie started spinning in front of me, swinging its heavy ass arms like a kid throwing a tantrum. It spun and then lowered its arms slightly, I realized too late what it was doing. The muscle zombie started launching the smaller zombies around it by smacking them really hard with its arms. Throwing zombie after zombie at me with a really alarming amount of accuracy. The girls were behind me so we all had to start dodging the falling corpses. One was just knocking them away with her fists while Two was whacking them with her club really hard, alot of them just exploded into gore while she smiled. But no matter how many zombies she exploded while smiling none of the muck ever got on her teeth, her teeth stayed pearly white. Three had taken out a short sword from somewhere and was slicing off heads before they hit the ground. Four and Five were supporting the rest of us with Four's magic and Five's small pistols. We were handling ourselves pretty well, but the muscled zombie just kept throwing more zombies at us. I brought out my shotgun and dashed towards him shooting the zombies I couldnt dodge.

I got to the large group of weaker zombies around him and fired in short bursts. I considered setting them on fire but then he would just start launching flaming zombies at us, I figured I would blast him until he stops spinning first. I aimed for the big guy and kept dodging the others, but the damage was just limited to his arms because he kept spinning. He didnt even flinch when I was shooting him. I jumped up, using blue mana to launch me higher and fired a couple shots at his head. Using a quick burst from the flamethrower to try and just set him on fire. Which worked, my first couple shots hit his head and left shoulder and the flames just made the damage worse. I landed and since he was off balance and now just smacking zombies irratically I started using the flamethrower on the rest of them. The big guy was spinning so fast that his damaged left shoulder tore and the strain from spinning his heavy limbs so fast ripped his entire arm right off. Now that he stopped spinning I started shooting him again, hitting him in the chest, stomach and legs. He didnt let being on fire and losing a limb stop him though and he started charging me again. Swinging his limp arm like a weapon at me while he was running, I cant take him straight on of course so I ran. Turning around to take a couple shots at him as I ran around. His small zombie army was now pretty crispy with only a few zombies still able to move around and those were being taken care of by the girls. Three was also shooting at the big guy, I could see some arrows sticking out of him when I looked back. Im still not doing enough damage!.
The big guy was still charging after me even though he was bleeding profusely from many wounds and his missing left arm, yet he still was focused on crushing me with his limp arm. Even the fact that he was on fire didnt seem to bother him one bit. Ive got to do something.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.

Systrem Amusments
For as long as history has been recorded, the scrolls have held power over all life on the continent. When a blight was forthcoming, the scrolls foretold it. Despite this, every moment was spent seeing how far he could strech things before he was broken back into line. Now that he was 'retired', however, he had much more room to stretch himself. Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
