《Ode to Freud》Extra Chapter 42: Tools
Advertisement
A farmer’s tools are his life.
That’s why I’m sharpening mine today.
“It seems we will have visits.”
Marie is at the window. I suppose she saw whoever is outside coming here.
“Really? Who is it?”
“It’s forehead. It seems he decided to quit being afraid after seeing Ann.”
Our granddaughter returned to the village a Superior Being.
I can imagine how frustrated Forehead is. Everyone knows of his stubbornness in trying to go beyond his limits.
“Want for me to make some tea for us then?”
It is good to have something hot to drink while talking difficult things.
“Don’t worry about that, I don’t want to bother you. If he’s coming in I will make it myself. Please entertain him.”
“Uhm. Please no sugar on mine.”
“Sure darling.”
The sickle needs some polish on the middle section, so I’m not worried. Soon there were knocks on the door.
“Johson. What can I help you with?”
“Marie. I want to talk.”
“Sure, come in. I will make tea for us.”
“Anton. Good to see you.”
“Johson. Please seat.”
Forehead is seated in front of me. I keep sharpening my sickle.
“So, I heard the crop this year will be even better than last years’ ?”
Indeed, it’s seeming like that.
“Yeah. We almost didn’t have any hex rats this year. I think it’s because of the new [Forest Spirit]. It’s protecting us already.”
“It’s amazing. I remember some tales from when I was young, but to think a [Forest Spirit] would really be born around this village. That explains why the hunters haven’t been finding any monsters nests recently.”
“Yes, it’s amazing.”
Marie soon gets back with the tea.
“Here.”
“Thanks.”
“Thanks ma.”

“You’re welcome. Now, Johson, you said you wanted to talk.”
He’s suddenly serious.
“Marie, I want to make a request to you.”
“What would that be?”
“Please teach me how to go beyond the Superior Being limit.”
I’m a bit surprised.
Why would my wife know such a thing?
“And why do you think I know how to do it?”
He’s looking at me. I look at Marie, she seems calm.
“I don’t know what you will ask of me, but I’ve decided to take my chances.”
“Please leave.”
“I will. Thank you.”
In the end forehead left a little after.
I still have to finish polishing my sickle.
Marie gives me a kiss to the cheek and hugs me.
She hasn’t denied to know something. I won’t ask her why.
My wife is my love, but she is how she is.

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Collected Short Stories of Necrontyr525
Hey all, Necrontyr525 here! Rather then drown you all in a flood of one- to three-chapter mini-fics, I've decided to put out all of my short stories in an 'omnibus' format, sorted by series and by release date. These stories span my entire progress as a writer-for-fun over the past three plus years, with the corisponding variance in length, subject matter, and quality. Each chapter will get an Author's Note as a sort of forwards. Not nessisarily as a summary, but more to give you all some context for where each short came from, as well as any chapter-spicific trigger warnings. I can't think of any off of the top of my head, but better safe then sour.Comments, reviews, and constuctive criticizm is welcome, but please do recall that these works collectivly represent a great deal of my growth as a writer.Cover by the wonderful gej302! Go and show them some love!

The Youngest Pevensie (a narnia fanfiction)
Everyone knows the story of the Pevansie Siblings, their adventure to Narnia, Edmund being enchanted by the witch, Mr Tumnus and of course Aslan. Something everyone forgets is their youngest sibling Sophie. She was just a baby when her siblings were evacuated so she had to stay at home with her mother. However when Edmund and Peter got into a fight at the train station she was 4 and was next to her siblings when they were called back to lead Narnia again. This time she's along for the ride.I own the character Sophie Pevansie and no one else. All rights go to C.S Lewis for the storyline. I'm basing it off the movie.
