《The Human Soul》Chapter 5: Magic
Advertisement
Hi, to the few who actually read my story thanks a lot really. Sadly though I've just started writing and I am in medical school and won't have much free time T_T expect slow or shot releases though I'll fight to keep it daily. again thanks and enjoy today's chapter
It’s been a month since I’ve restarted my training. I had to be patient since I was relearning everything to do with magic theory, application and history. Now I’m ready to take my first true step towards overcoming this trial.
As standard there are four main types of magic energy: natural, A-type, B-type and Z-type. Natural is obvious, just the natural stuff found in nature. What’s interesting is the three main types human beings can produce; A, B and Z type.
A-type or better known as Power type and is the most suitable for combat. Its main feature is its volatility and that it has the highest energy released per unit of magic power. B-type or better known as material type, characterized by its excellent ability to manipulate chemical reactions and form compounds. At higher levels this type can perform space-time manipulation as well making this type the most popular magic type amongst engineers. Z-type or better known as spirit/soul type is the best at affecting the ‘souls’ of living beings. This type is hard to explain because there are many specialized uses e.g. doctors pass the energy through patients to read their ‘spiritual blueprint’ and heal them, spies reading people’s minds through their energy flow and even police officers canceling other magic’s with it.
Everyone can produce all 3, but in separate quantities and all mixed up. This is why most will only think they have ‘talent’ for power-type for example. After testing I found out I produce my energy in this ration. 10:60:30. 10% power-type, 60% material type and 30% soul type. Well guess I won’t be a super soldier but I’ll make do.
Combat test: Slaves tournament
You now have control over the great force of magic. We will now be testing and ranking you by your self-defense skills. Good luck and as always have fun.

Hell’s a real bitch throwing me into a fight first chance they get, oh well I’ve been feeling like beating on someone. Oh shit looks like it’s a… lizard? Dinosaur? Well it’s the size of a human adult, got ripped as shit muscles, scales, a tail, no genitals? And what looks like a light saber.
Standing in the middle of a large doom like room whilst staring each other down was Thabo and a humanoid lizard. Both had no cloths on, which did little to calm Thabo’s nerves. The area was as large as a football field with a ceiling as high as a 20 story building. It seemed to be made from some type of rough concrete/stone and was strangely brown with a large white circle covering the center of the arena. The walls were decorated with blood and images of fighters. All around the perimeter of the wall there were torches burning despite the obviously well lite room.
Humanoid lizard-dinosaur: “RrrrAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*Roars out* “
Thabo: “Well hello to you to”
Ah this is bad that wasn’t funny, shit is this guy a power-type? I read that they can usually compress their energy into laser-like weapons. Touching that thing will probably burn me. Plus, he’s stronger than m-
The creature rushes forward. Extending its arm as it swung its energy saber towards Thabo. He ducks, just barely dodging the slash, then jumps back to a safe distance.
Thabo: “Shit its fast”
Thabo then begins to charge towards the lizard. Releasing as much of his own energy into the surroundings as he could. He didn’t know enough to cast a proper spell or perform an effective martial art skill and he knew it. But what he could do he would have to work with.
Lizard: “RrrAAAAAAAAAA!!!!”
It lashed out with its laser saber again. Thabo ran towards it as fast as he humanly could, and just inches before the two clashed. Thabo fell legs forward and began to slide underneath the lizard with ease.
Thabo: “Yes! Got you dumb lizard!”
-I can change the floor nicely so long as I’m close to it, now let’s see how you like my trap-

Before the lizard could turn around the ground sank in and wrapped around its ankles, holding the creature in place. But the lizard immediately lost its temper and pierced the floor with its energy saber, breaking free of its binds.
Thabo: “Oh shit…”
Knowing he was beat Thabo began running towards the walls as fast as he could. The lizard obviously infuriated, gave chase. While hearing the crushing sounds of scaly feet behind him Thabo could only pray and run faster.
With every step Thabo infused his energy into the ground creating obstacle after obstacle for the lizards’ advance. After a few seconds he reached a few meters in front of the wall, then in one quick motion he kicked off the ground and into the air. As he hit the wall he forced his energy into it and created deep bents for him to hold onto. He repeated this process a few more times as he climbed the wall. But before long his opponent would remind him that this isn’t a climbing competition.
*Bomb*
Thabo: “Argh!! My shoulder fuck! What was that a projectile!?”
In its hands the lizard held a spear of light. Clearly less dense than the previous saber but still deadly, and in one violent motion it twisted its body and threw the spear towards Thabo, seeing this he moved to the side to avoid it but still felt some of the residue heat.
-Shit its tryna burn me! - thought Thabo
Now Thabo was facing the monster with his back against the wall a few meters above ground. His mind racing with what to do but before he could move.
Thabo: “Argh!!!” his stomach was cleanly hit by the energy spear. He shouts out in pain and began to cough blood.
Thabo: “*Heavy panting*…fuck...*pant*...you…”
With all of his strength he began pouring energy into the wall. The lizard, not seeing him as a threat at all began building up energy again, but before it could do anything cracks formed along the walls. The lizard froze, then turned its body but before it could run the section of wall had already broke-off and collapsed on him. Before he was crushed Thabo jumped down and landed right outside the danger-zone.
Thabo: “*pant**pant**pant**pant**pant*…this…*pant*…is…*pant*…not good…*pant*…my stamina’s really crappy…*pant*”
Before he could recover Thabo noticed a light shining out of the debris. Then a piece of concrete collapsed-in and out the middle the bloody figure of the lizard could be seen. It seemed like some limbs were broken as it could not stand up straight and favored its left leg. The extended right arm with a glow over its upwards faced palm signaled that it blocked the hit with energy. But it wasn’t enough the lizard limped forward over the debris quickly and before long It was outside approaching Thabo. Thabo though stood ready with a concrete pole in his hands, clearly a quickly made from some rubble.
When the lizard reached Thabo he started beating it with the pole. Bones broke as the lizard parried and punched away at the pole and as the weapon slowly began breaking and getting smaller Thabo’s own body was not spared either. Slash after slash, bash after bash, it was obvious that only one could walk away from this encounter. Thabo swung his weapon again and it completely shattered on the lizards’ hard face. The beast saw its chance and berried its claws into Thabo’s left shoulder. Once again shouting in desperation Thabo slammed his right palm onto the beasts’ face. then began pouring power into its open wounds. Before it realized its fate was sealed. Thabo’s first skill [internal destruction] activated and blew half the beasts head off.
-That was close, its only because I have a decent amount of magic power that I made it through. I’ll have to practice my skills and control extra-hard”
WELLDONE!
Your first fight and you won! That’s impressive, as a reward will place your ranking higher the we normally would after a win. Your now number 17 097 805 461 in this branch of Hell. Keep winning. Good luck and stay safe out there!

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)

From Ninja to Pirate
Life can be difficult, hard and painful. Who am I kidding? Most of you probably have already experienced first-hand, all the difficulties, hardships and pains in life that I talk of, so rather than listen to me teach the lessons on how you should stay strong and look forward to the good things, I think you'd much rather prefer me to just get on with my story, and that's exactly what I'll do.My name was Uzumaki Naruto. I was a genin of the hidden village of the leaves, and the team-mate of Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura. My parents were the Fourth Hokage and the Jinchuuriki of the nine-tailed fox before me, and I was what people called, a failure. But now, the story has reversed. No more failure. No more Naruto. No more ninja.I am Akagami D. Natsuki, a girl who challenges the world, in the era of pirates! All credits go to Oda Eiichiro and Kishimoto Masashi for writing One Piece and Naruto. This is a fanfiction I wrote for my own pleasure. Please don't judge it too harshly... I have checked for spelling and grammar mistakes, but just in case there is the occasional mistake, please comment on it, rather than insult me. From personal experience, I have seen people insulting my grammar, with a comment akin to:"Cant u even spell 'mom' correctly? It's 'mom' not 'mum' you idiot!!!" So, please, don't insult me like that... It really ruins my day, which might have already been awful... Also, I apologise if they get really overpowered, or sound really arrogant... I don't mean it that way, but that's how it is read, so I'm sorry before hand. Well done for making it this far, and thank you for reading. noelicoan.
