《Reincarnated As A Crocodile》Chapter 9 “Day 5: Escape Part 1” (Re-Edited)

Day 5
"I bet Kuzco and Arthur don't have to deal with this shit." Dracul brooded while trying to prevent Rumi from using her claws on him. The black dragoness' claws are sharp! By Shenron, just how she can injure him that easily? He was a goddamn dragon crocodile hybrid species. That means his scales are super tough as hell, right? Nevertheless, he couldn't believe how easy it was for her to inflict wounds upon him when she wasn't even strong enough to kill him.
Nearby grunting of Apes saved Dracul from Rumi's wrath. The ape bastard that led the party of Draco Apes stood at the other side of the room, commanding itself to the apes.) They spoke [unintelligible grunts) "They're awake. Don't let them escape! I knew those bastards were weak!"
"Who are you calling weak!" Rumi and Dracul shouted back in unison as they glared at each other than at the primates.
The ape grinned at them as if seeing two children who had just started playing together. Then, it continued, "You need me to teach you some manners?"
The apes run towards the platform and try to fight the dragon couple. The dragon couple was less than impressed with primates.
"Anyone wants a piece of me; line forms right here," Dracul taunted at them. Rumi gave the apes an icy stare, daring him to do it. This only brought more laughter from the apes.
Rumi narrowed her eyes at the man-ape before her. She wanted to say something but held herself back by biting her lip.
"We need your fire breath again, Dracul," Rumi said to her partner. "Since that was your first time, so listen to me or else! Now calm your mind," She advised. "Narrow your lips to control your output and direction. Focus solely on each target and fire, if you'll pardon the play on words."
Dracul nodded in agreement. "Let's go!"
"And once you hit your opponent, you should release the heat slowly, rather than all at once. If you don't know how much energy is released yet, just aim for anywhere but their head. You can always adjust later. Aiming too high won't hurt anything. At worst, we might lose our heads instead of them."
Dracul followed Rumi's advice. There was a crackling sound, and a blaze of orange light shot out, scorching the nearest ape. The ape fell back, crying out. The rest of the apes ran away from Rumi and Dracul. That was fast! Dracul thought to himself.
"Dracul! Why did you stop?!"
"They left Rumi..." Dracul said as if he was talking to himself. Then, he looked up at Rumi, who was staring at him accusingly.
"Because they ran like like wimps! " Dracul boasted until five seconds later; they came back with a larger group. "Ok, never mind"
"By the way, those three you killed earlier were only worth 40xp, and the apes you just killed at seven each," Dracul hears the coward say in their mentalink.

"Damn nerfs..." Dracul grumbled.
"Let me show you what I can do now," Rumi said with a smile. Dracul could see the fire in her eyes, ready to be unleashed upon whoever dared challenge her.
Rumi charged at one of the Apes. She breathed out an exquisite blue fire on another one. The apes fought harder than expected, and she got hit by one of their fists. Reeling from the blow, the dragoness recovered, and tail whipped a Draco Ape in the face, cutting it in half. Another got behind her and grabbed Rumi in a half-nelson.
"Need me to go in?" Dracul asked. "Nothin' wrong with asking for a break between rounds."
"No, thanks. I'm good. Let's finish these bastards already." Rumi cracked the skull of one ape and gave another ape in front of her an angry stare. She crouched down as low as possible to better concentrate on her breath. She breathed out a second blast of fire that was even hotter than the last.
Two more Apes tried to attack Rumi and Dracul. One of them swung its club at Rumi, who evaded it by spinning around, her wings flapping. The club flew into the air and landed against the wall, cracking the stone.
Another ape jumped at Dracul and punched him in the gut with his fist. The blow sent the reptilian beast staggering backwards. Finally, a third ape charged at Rumi and wrapped a rope around her neck.
Rumi quickly turned her body sideways to evade the choking hold. Her wing and tail lashed out. She stabbed the ape's club to punch her in the head, causing the ape to lose his grip and fall back onto the floor.
"Dracul!" Rumi called to her partner. "Help!"
Dracul watched Rumi struggle from afar. He was about to charge over to help her when he felt a tugging sensation on his tail. The apes were trying to get hold of his tail. He saw one of them, the one who had punched Rumi, had a knife attached to his belt. Dracul swung his tail, sending the ape flying over to Rumi and knocking the ape holding her.
He saw Rumi catch her breath. "Thanks!" Rumi exclaimed. Dracul heard the ape grunt behind him.
Dracul growled at the ape to make sure it would stay put.
"Rumi, let's combine our firepower, ok?" Dracul said.
"Sure, why not," Rumi answered. They both focused on the remaining apes and fired off blasts of fire. Rumi's dark blue fire breath scorched the apes, who had no idea where the attacks were coming from. Dracul's flame breaths blew away the apes' weapons and then burned their bodies. Dracul moved around the room, ensuring the apes didn't dare get up again.
Soon a giant golem appears from underneath the lava, slamming one of its hands onto the pillar's surface and roaring loudly. Dracul and Rumi watch as the Golem smashes the pillars across the room, destroying the platforms. Dracul sighed in relief as the stone beneath their feet vanished, leaving them falling onto the ground.

"I heard that one of the pillars was destroyed. So we should move out of here," Rumi said.
"Yeah, but look at this thing!" Dracul said excitedly. "Look at that face. It's just screamin' 'punch me'."
"While I think your love of battle is really sexy right now... But we need to break this thing." Rumi pointed her claw at the metal top. "It's holding us down."
Rumi and Draucl grabbed the metal plug and pulled it until it came free. Once they were able to climb out of the hole, Dracul threw the plug toward the golem. Rumi and Draucl climbed atop the golem, punching holes through its armour.
The golem threw his hands around wildly, trying to swat the flying dragons. Each time its hand touched the platform, Dracul smashed it with his crocodilian tail. He did his best to avoid the laser beam that came from the golem's wrist.
"Dracul! Watch out!" Rumi warned.
Dracul dodged the shot.
Growling in anger, the golem stomped on the platform.
"Mmm?... Let's move! And follow my lead," I said with confidence.
"Why do I have to follow your lead?"
The golem smashed its foot onto the pillar, intending to squash them, but we both escaped just in time. It fiercely raised its hand back up and roared back.
"Right... good idea... you lead," Rumi said with a nod.
They flew away from the golem's wild grasps, which grew more agitated.
Soon a ball of energy went straight into its left eye, leaving a cloud of purple gas emerging from inside its head and looking down. Dracul saw the faun from earlier! The golem tried to punch the female tribal mojo goblin but missed, causing a small stone column to fall and form a bridge between the right-hand side of the room and the pillar.
"Shoots its right eye!"
"Right!"
Dracul and Rumi released flamethrower attacks.
The golem was knocked back down to the lava by the pain.
"How does a rock monster have pain sensors?" Dracul asked no one in particular.
Flying down to the faun, Dracul and Rumi released a sigh of air. The faun looked up to see two dragons.
"How are you here?" Dracul asked her. There was no way she was captured, too?
"My tribe and my brother were captured!" The girl shouted. "I managed to follow them here using one of their mounts!" The faun barely holds back a sob. "It's not fair! My family is captured because of those monsters!"
"Those monsters?" Dracul questioned, confused. "You mean the ones that attacked the people that captured your family or us?"
"I'm sorry, but your people are prisoners of the Gaul's Army," Rumi said sadly. " I overhead the Ape boss talking about new meat shields for a new attack on the humans. "
The girl paled. "No... NO!" She fell to her knees and slammed her fist on the ground.
Rumi hung her head in shame. "I'm sorry." She went over and placed a paw on her shoulder. The girl grabbed the dragoness and hugged her tightly. The girl let out a long sob as she cried on Rumi’s scales. Dracul stared at Rumi in shock.
Dracul can guess that they know each other from her behaviour. Rumi and the faun look at each other, sharing an understanding. "Hey..." Dracul said.
The one thing Dracul shares with late friends Kuzco, Desmend, and Arthur is that:
They hate crying women, girls, and anyone of the female gender.
Tranny, Trap, or not. They are let live kind of boys.
"Don't, ladies," Dracul continued gently. "I promise you; we'll get them back. And the boss never breaks a promise." Dracul took a deep breath. "Now, we better get outta here before there's any more trouble." Dracul led them out of the room.
Soon piles of rubble fell from behind them, separating them from the lava room we were in before.
"Alright, that thing is not dead, and we are not safe here, so we need to leave now!"
The stupid is thrashing about and destroying the support pillars to this place.
"Let's see if I find us a way out... Echolocation!"
Dracul sends out continuous sound waves that let him map out the surrounding area. The range of the map is about 10 km around me. Sonar sends feedback if any living creatures are here. He picks up something.
"I have the location of the prisoners. Let's go save them... K" With renewed energy and the intent to put his awkward and embarrassing moment behind them, Dracul pointed a finger forward.
"That way!"
"Dracul, your wings are bigger!" Rumi exclaimed in shock at seeing the cute dragon's wings grow larger and more powerful. They look like they belong to a dragon close to their adult size than to a teenager like them.
"Well, it's just that my wingspan is getting longer, and they're almost twice as big as they used to be. You know how much I care about your opinion," Dracul said teasingly. "Also, that didn't hurt this time. Cool." Dashi must have picked on my wing mutations.
Blushing madly, Rumi stares at Dracul in awe. Dracul stretched his wings wide. "Shut up, Dracul! And me to my minions!" Dracul pointed his nose in the direction of the prisoners, not wanting to face Rumi's anger.
In the meantime, he decided to read Rumi's stats and abilities.

Dracul sighed. "Ok, let's go rescue the prisoners." Dracul led the way.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
