The main character(king of the kingdom of Mainz)

"Your majesty, the Rostok empire and the coaliton forces have fought a decisive battle in Bulgaria. The Rostok empire has won but they have suffered heavy losses. They are starting the siege of Miklagrad which have Lombardian elite soldiers defending it. It looks like the Rostok empire can't break it as the walls are too good." said Felix.

"What is the progress of cannons we are starting develop. Are they ready for battle. If they are, sell them to the Rostok empire."

I had invested in gunpowder and cannon technology as guns and cannons are the future. They cause a lot of casualties but at the same time, they cost a lot. In my old world, it was delayed a lot as nobody was really investing in it a lot. The main advantage of guns is that anyone can use it. A knight can't defeat a soldier with a gun. That's the reason I had invested in gunpowder technology, anyone can use it with some training and you don'tr really need any talent unless you want to be a sharpshooter.

With swords, if you want to really make a change you need to have talent and resources. That's why knights used to be dominant. I want a people's army which can overhelm any enemy using pure firepower. Superior firepower, as a game in my past world used to call it. I don't want to rely on individuals, I want to rely on an army.

"The cannons are ready for battle. They are not really that effective in battles but they are extremely effective on sieges. We might need to invest a bit more to make the cannon more battle useful."

There were cannons used before in this world but nobody really likes them due to their high cost and low returns so nobody invested in them. I did not expect them to be useful in battles yet but they will be in the future. The main reason I built them is for sieges, speed is one of the best ways to win wars and for speed, you need to win sieges.

"Start incorpating them in the army for sieges. Make a special division for cannons for sieges. We need fast and quick sieges."

Felix nodded and said.

"Your majesty, the Rostok empire has applied for another loan. It looks like their reserves are running low and they need more money. The only person they can get money is from us. We do have the capacity to give them loans so should we give them." said Felix.

I do think we need to give them loans. The logic behind this is that they will take loans from us which are in the currency of marks. They can only buy goods from our country which will increase the development of the country. At the same time, if they need to buy weapons they need to from my companies which means I will get a lot of profit. I will give loans from my bank which are the peoples money while they will have to buy weapons from my company which means I will get some money. I am basically using my customers money to get more money for myself. That's one of the reason banks are so profitable. Banks in my old world used to this all the time to make profit.
