《Unraveling Secrets》Chapter 16: Mysterious Person

It was now sunset and the rays of orange light fell down on all of Clear View. On the road that led up a small hill was a little boy who had just returned from playing all day. Further down the road was a person dressed in all black even though it was summer. As Kan walked home the mysterious person turned to look at Kan.
“Hey little boy do you live in the house up ahead.”
“Yeah, I live up there with mommy and daddy.”
The voice that came from the mysterious person was sweet and gentle and was clearly a woman’s voice. She looked at him gently and saw that this boy was too innocent. He was not wary of her at all so she decided to give him some advice for the future.
“Little boy when strangers talk to you, you should be wary of them. Those strangers could be bad men who will take you away from mommy and daddy, ok.”
“Ok. But...but aunty isn’t dangerous. Aunty has nice and kind eyes.”
The mysterious lady was surprised at Kan’s words. Maybe it was just luck but he had read her intent from just looking at her eyes. This was not a skill a young boy at his age should know.
“Don’t call me aunty, ok. Call me Big Sister since i’m not old enough to be called aunty. Big Sister may be kind but other strangers may not be so be careful, ok.”
“Ok Big Sis.”
“Good, now can you do Big Sister a favor. Can you deliver these two letters to your mommy and daddy.”
“Ok Big Sis but why don’t you just deliver the letters yourself?”
Kan cutely tilted his head as he asked the mysterious lady a question. ‘Wow, this kid is too cute.’ The mysterious lady thought to herself on how she was going to avoid his question and then she came up with the perfect excuse to fool a child.

“Don’t tell anyone but I am actually a super secret ninja that can only be seen by children. My powers make it so no adult can see me so it would be weird if your mommy and daddy just saw a flying letter come into their home.”
“Oooo. Big Sis. Big Sis. Can you also teach me how to do that.”
“Maybe when you are older. So can you deliver the letters for Big Sister.”
“Yeah, i’ll give the letters to mommy and daddy.”
“Good. It’s starting to get dark so hurry on home and be safe.”
“Bye bye Big sister.”
“Bye bye.”
Kan walked towards his home and looked back to see if the mysterious lady was still there but she wasn’t. She had disappeared the moment Kan started to walk back home. There wasn’t a trace of her ever being there and she disappeared with the wind.
……
“Mommy, Daddy, I’m home.”
Unlike Doctor Frank’s front door knob which was unusually high, Kan could reach his home’s own door knob but the door was locked. Claire was setting up dinner and when she heard Kan’s call she went to go open the door but didn’t. Just like Jane, Claire stood next to the door with a smirk on her face.
“What’s the password Kan?”
“Oh. hmm. Ah, Claire is the best mommy in the world and no other mommy could beat her.”
“Good. Welcome home Kan. I’ve missed you so much.”
After opening the door Claire had picked up Kan and started kissing him on the cheeks and rubbing her face against his. She did all of this like she had not seen Kan in years.
“Mommy, why do both you and Aunty Jane have a passwords for the door.”

“What? Jane has a password too.”
Confused as to why Jane had a password Claire thought of the possible reasons but didn’t mind it too much. Having a password for Kan wasn’t doing him any harm so Claire stopped thinking about it.
“Mommy has a password because mommy wants you to rely on me. When you grow up you won’t rely on mommy anymore so mommy wants you to rely on me as much as possible right now.”
“Ok mommy.”
“Go and get ready to eat Kan. Go call Daddy too.”
……
The three of them started eating dinner and started talking about how Kan’s day was.
“Where did you go play today Kan?”
“We went to go play at Aunty Jane’s place. Aunty Jane told me that her and mommy kissed before.”
“What!?”
Claire turned beet red while Clive was laughing at Claire’s embarrassment. Under the table Claire pinched at Clive’s leg to get payback for laughing at her.
“*Cough *Cough. So what else did you do today.”
“Oh, I met Big Sister earlier. She was wearing all black even though it was summer and she was really nice. She also had really pretty blue eyes. She also gave me two letters to give to mommy and daddy.”
Both Clive and Claire had a serious expression on their face. It was unusual for letters to be indirectly given to them like this. Every villager knew each other so going to their house to deliver a message was the norm. The person was also wearing all black even though it was summer so must likely they were trying to hide their identity. This mysterious person had come to their village to deliver a letter so their could only be a few possibilities for the reason for the letters.
“Ok, mommy will clean the dishes so prepare for bed, ok”
“Ok.”
…….
“Is Kan asleep.”
“Yeah, he’s fast asleep.”
“Ok, let’s go then.”
It was now nighttime but at the Lock household two people were exiting the house. Clive and Claire were leaving their house at night and in Clive’s hand was the two letters Kan had given.
“Let’s go and see the mayor to decide what we do with these letters.”
“Ok Clive. I hope these letters are just ordinary letters.”

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!

All people great or small have a story - Patriarch Lord Theris'Heron Soletus, was on the verge of becoming a warden in the Dias Brotherhood until his father holds him back. It isn't one that test doesn’t test his physical strength, but his strength of character. He is paired up with a shy and traumatized boy name Mien. However, when Soletus’s resolve to help starts to waiver, Mien does something unexpected and Soletus decides that the boy deserves a second chance not as an act of duty but as a friend. Hy'Ruh-Ha is a what I consider a chronicle fantasy. It is a fantasy drama coming of age story inspired by slice-of-life stories I've read and watched. It is heavy on the slice-of-life and does move slow. It is low-stakes fantasy. This particular story is romance free.(2 out the of 4 is re-uploaded under this title) And if you are someone who cares, the POV character is asexual. Crossroad(formally labeled as the intermission stories)- is a novella collection continuing the tale where Hy'ruh-Ha. The collection as followed: Wolf- After spending several months in the swamp post, Oeric'Sheldmartin returns to repair the chasm between him and his son, Soletus. However, a ghost from his past comes to haunt him and could ruin the life he's made completely. Note: Wolf is a bit of a character piece. POV character is Oeric. The Priest and the Priestess- A novella written in the POV of Mien and then Kiao after a series of unexpected events that change their lives. Mien's POV- Mien has spent the last couple of years working not only in the infirmary but training to become a combat chanter as part of his penitence. Then one day, a drug addled elf comes into infirmary and changes his perspective of a friend and puts his knowledge to the tests to figure out a mystery effecting children in town. *Spoiler warning* Kiao's POV- Kiao spent most of her time in the infirmary living the same daily secret filled life and until Mien changed it. Now she has to figure out her future in ways she never thought she would. I'm going for a Tues and Thurs day schedule for the re-upload. I may or may not stick in extra days.
