《Unraveling Secrets》Chapter 35: Care and Love

“Kan! My baby Kan! I thought you were gone forever.”
“I’m so glad you woke up Kan. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if you never woke up.”
Claire and Clive were crying their tears out as they held Kan within their arms. They had nearly lost all hope for Kan to wake up. Every single day that passed by with Kan not waking up, broke their hearts little by little to the point where it even affected their health.
Seeing their sick and pallid faces, Kan also teared up just as much as them. He cried and cried like he had never before. He had just escaped a place where he didn’t even know if he could escape or whether or not he was dead. All he could feel right now was the relief in being embraced in his parents arms. He had not felt this warmth or love in such a long time that he cried himself to sleep in their arms.
“Kan! Kan! What’s wrong.”
Jane was standing off to the side as the family united but as soon as she heard Claire shriek once again, she rushed towards Kan. She checked his pulsed and breathing and sighed with relief.
“It’s ok Claire and Clive. Kan is just sleeping right now. It seems that he had just cried all of his energy out. He’ll be awake in just a bit.”
Clive and Claire could only trust in Jane’s word. Although they were still worried about Kan, they knew that Jane wouldn’t lie to them so all they could do was wait. The both of them sat there holding onto Kan’s hands as they waited for him to wake up.
……
“Mommy! Daddy!”
Kan immediately rose from his bed looking for Claire and Clive worried that they weren’t there. Having been through so much in the darkness, he had thought that maybe what just happened was another set of memories. He looked towards the left and saw both of his parents smiling at him. Once again they brought Kan into their embrace.
“It’s ok Kan. Mommy and Daddy are right here.”
“We aren’t going anywhere so calm down Kan.”
Kan began feeling both Clive and Claire to make sure that they were real and not fake. He began crying again as he felt that the both of them were warm. Clive and Claire allowed Kan to cry so more while making sure he wouldn’t pass out again. Eventually Kan didn’t have any more tears to cry out and recollected his emotions.
“Are you feeling better now Kan?”
“Yeah. Daddy, Mommy, how long was I asleep?”

Clive slowly explained to Kan that he was out for an entire month, which shocked Kan. Kan felt that in the darkness time passed fast at times and slow at others but he had not expected that he was out for so long.
After coming to terms with how long he was out Kan began reconnecting with his parents. Both Clive and Claire had a lot to say to Kan about the village and what has happened in the one month he was asleep.
Claire began telling Kan about how much the village was worried about him. Every single day since Kan was poisoned, the villagers would come regularly to check up on Kan. Every time they came they would bring some gifts. They knew that they couldn’t do anything for Kan while he was asleep so all they could do was bring gifts for when he woke up.
Kan was grateful for all the villagers’ kindness and especially towards Leo, Jessica, and Mary. Claire had also mentioned how every single day they came and visited him. Even though they didn’t know when he would wake up, they would come and talk to him everyday. They told him stories on how their days went or even tried to tell him to wake up and go play with them.
Kan felt an overwhelming amount of warmness in his heart and tears came out uncontrollably. Kan had been all alone in the darkness and felt immense sadness at all the events that had occured within those memories. He had watched friends and family be killed over and over again for so long that he felt useless and hopeless but now he only felt warmth.
Seeing Kan cry once again Claire picked him up and tried to calm him down. Holding him in her arms Claire felt joy and happiness. To Claire it had felt an extremely long time since she had held Kan in her arms. She slowly stroked the back of Kan’s head and patted his back to calm him down. Kan was eventually soothed and stopped crying.
The moment Kan stopped crying, knocking could be heard from the door to the room. Clive got up as to not bother Claire and Kan’s bonding. Clive walked towards the door and opened it and 3 little figures dashed through the door.
“Kan you’re awake!”
“I’m so glad you’re awake Kan!”
“Kan, you were sleeping for way too long!”
Jessica, Mary, and Leo had rushed into the room with tears dripping and snot running. When they were at the door they had heard Kan crying and rushed into the room. They had not heard the voice of their friend in such a long time that they had rushed towards him. They were now surrounding Claire, badgering Kan about how he was doing or how much he has missed out on.

Claire sat Kan back on the bed and allowed him to talk with his friends. As they were talking more footsteps could be heard from the doorway. Claire then entered the room and right behind her was George. Clive glared at George but eventually let off his glare.
Although he was still angry at George, he knew it wasn’t George’s fault. George had told him and the villagers that it was entirely his mistake and even apologized to them. From George’s story it showed that the events that occured was all an accident. George had explained that all the previous experiments that he made with the peca pen fruits were all delicious so he had thought that he could save money by picking the peca pen fruits by himself. He didn’t know that the ones he had picked up were rotten and was poisonous which led to Kan being poisoned.
“Hello there Clive and Claire. I heard from Jane earlier when I came in that Kan had woken up. I am so glad he had woken up. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if he never woke up. I have some leftover sweet filled bread, would you guys like to eat it?”
Clive walked up to George and grabbed the leftover bread while thanking him for it. Just to make sure that the bread was safe, Clive took a bite out of one and it was pretty delicious.
After Kan had been poisoned, George had worked hard on regaining the trust of the villagers and so far it has been good. Most of the villagers still order baked goods from him although some are still suspicious.
Clive turned back to offer Kan and the other kids some bread but he felt intense killing intent. It was so strong that it could only be created from someone who held a lifelong grudge against another person. What shocked Clive even more was that the killing intent was coming from his own son. He looked at Kan’s eyes and saw that there was an endless hatred within them as he glared at George. Clive saw this hatred and chalked it up to Kan not liking George because of the poisoning.
The atmosphere in the room had turned cold and everyone was silent. It was full of joy but now it was silent because of Kan. The 3 friends had seen Kan’s change in emotions and quieted down. Claire had also felt the change in the room and Kan’s glare so she sought to calm him down.
“It’s ok Kan. I know that you may hate him because he poisoned you but it was an accident. Mommy is still angry at him too for hurting you but it was an accident so calm down, ok.”
“No Mommy. He’s a bad man. He made you and Daddy suffer and will…”
Kan stopped his sentence midway and didn’t continue it. He didn’t continue his sentence because if he said any more then George would become wary of him. Kan had stopped his sentence before he revealed too much information.
Everyone else had noticed Kan’s glare and that included George himself. Feeling the intense glare of hatred from Kan, George sought to come to a peaceful conclusion. Thinking about this he walked up towards Kan with a smile on his face.
“Hey Kan, I know you probably don’t like me for what I have done but let me make it up to you. I will give your entire family free baked goods whenever you come to my store.”
George had sought to tempt and bribe Kan with the prospect of sweets but Kan did not budge. Kan didn’t respond and only kept on glaring at George. Feeling that his attempt at reconciliation fail, he quickly made his get away.
“I see that you aren’t in the mood for baked goods so i’ll take my leave now. Stop by my store anytime and i’ll offer you the best of my goods for free.”
As soon as George left the room and out of the clinic the atmosphere was no longer tense. Everyone still at the clinic started chatting again with Kan and the atmosphere was once joyful.
……
“Fuck! How can that kid still survive the poison. I didn’t expect there to be such a good doctor in town.”
George was back in his bakery and thrashing at his failed attempt at murdering Kan. A part of his plan had failed and he was angry but he calmed down knowing that he still completed a part of his tasks.
“Haah. Haah. At least both Claire and Clive are injured. When we attack they won’t be able to resist us at all. Yeah there is still nothing they can do. Hahahahahahahaha. And all of this is all thanks to my genius plan.”
George hysterically laughed in his bakery as the sun went down. The sun set and the night fell and the next morning would be the start of a new day.
