《Unraveling Secrets》Chapter 77: Revolutionary Arms

“Thank you Big Sister Nicole. Let’s work together and save Clear View.”
Kan smiled confidently as he shook Nicole’s hand. ‘Whew, the negotiations went well.’ From Nicole’s point of view, Kan was absolutely confident with everything he said, but in reality, he was extremely nervous. He had been bluffing when he said he knew about all of Nicole’s objectives. Most of them were conjectures from the various information he knew, but most importantly, he knew Nicole’s personality.
If the person he was negotiating with was someone other than Nicole, than the negotiations wouldn’t have gone so smooth. From Jane’s stories and his time with her, Kan knew that deep down, Nicole was a kind person. The reason she was willing to abandon the villagers is because it would be the safest way to retrieve Claire. If she tried to save both the villagers and Claire then it would jeopardize her objective in retrieving Claire.
This is why Kan decided to gamble on his plan that would save both the villagers and Claire. Nicole had probably already thought of various ways to save everyone, but came to a dead end. Kan needed to show her that his plan would be able to save the villagers, Claire, and Nicole and her group. In the end, he was able to convince her that his plan was the best choice.
“Even though I said that I’ll agree to this plan, I still have to discuss this with my group.”
“Yes, I know. If possible can you return by tomorrow. I need you to meet with my parents to discuss the plan.”
“Do they know about this plan already?”
“No, they don’t. You’re the first person that knows about this plan. When you come back, I want you to convince my parents to agree with this plan.”
“Why don’t you tell them yourselves? ”
“I-I can’t be the one to do it. It has to be you.”
“Me?”
Nicole was starting to become suspicious of Kan and he could see that. He was struggling to answer her because the entire situation was complicated. If he was the one to tell his parents then he didn’t know if it would make the situation worst. During the seventh and eighth set of memories, “Kan” had warned his parents and the villagers, and the overall situation became worse. The seventh set of memories had 2 groups attacking and the eighth set of memories had 3 groups. ‘Wait, there was something else.’
‘Jane! Jane was also in those two memories!’ Kan had forgotten about Jane. Thinking back to those two memories, he remembered that Jane was in them, unlike the others. Jane was an important role in the entire event but he had forgotten about her. ‘How is she going to affect the events this time.’ Even though Kan remembered about Jane, he also remembered that he still needed ease Nicole’s doubts. Even though he didn’t want too, he had to lie to her.

“Big Sister Nicole. Can you keep what I’m going to tell you an absolute secret.”
“Yes.”
“I’m very serious right now. Can you take this secret to your grave. This is how important this secret is to me.”
“...”
Nicole didn’t answer right away and Kan was relieved to see that. He knew Nicole’s personality, but he was still wary of her. But seeing how she was seriously contemplating, Kan was assured that Nicole was a truly nice person.
“Yes, I swear on my soul that whatever secret you are going to reveal to me, I will take it to the grave.”
“Ok, thank you.”
Kan took in a big breath before he began explaining to Nicole.
“The reason I know so many things about this attack on Clear View is because I have a skill called [Future Sight]. As its name implies, I can see the future.”
“W-WHAT!?”
Nicole suddenly stood up in the bath. Kan could see the shock and awe in her face, but more than that, he could see her toned body. Her well refined muscles had scars that ran across her body, but that didn’t diminish her beauty any bit.
“My skill isn’t as strong as you may think it is. I can’t manually use it and it only occurs when i’m asleep. Whatever I see in my dreams are vague images and scenes that are going to happen in the near future. Even last night, I saw scenes of you explaining your objectives to me.”
“I see. I see. If it’s that then it’s possible.”
Nicole sat back down in the bath while muttering to herself. Half her face was now submerged and only her nose and up was visible. She was staring straight at him. ‘I hope this convinces her.’ The only thing Kan could do was wait for Nicole to respond back to him.
“How accurate is your skill?”
“Hmm, about 30% of the things I see come true.”
“30%. Can these predictions be changed?”
“Yes.”
“I see.”
Nicole was interrogating him, but he confidently replied back. The only thing Kan could do was take this lie all the way until it becomes the truth for Nicole.
“Have you seen what groups are going to attack?”
“My skill isn’t a hundred percent accurate, but I remember seeing your group which is filled with different people from different kingdoms. There was also the monster tamer groups, and the beastmen.”
“Amazing!! Your skill is amazing Kan!! I’ve heard legends of people have skills that could see the future, but this is the first time i’ve seen one in person. If we have this then we could’ve prevented so many incidents.”

Kan smiled wryly at the current Nicole. She was all giddy and happy like a child discovering treasure within a cave. ‘If only I had such a skill, I wouldn’t have to struggle so much.’
“Kan, how would you like to join our group.”
“Join your group?”
“Yes, with your skill, you can help us save all the kingdoms across this continent. Join me and my group, the Revolutionary Arms. Revolutionary Arms, aims to overthrow every single corrupt nation and to create a peaceful world where everyone can coexist. Will you join us?”
“I-I-I...what about Clear View?”
“Yes, i’ll convince everyone to save the villagers. Claire and your skill is too precious to give up.”
“Thank you.”
Kan was confused, but was glad that Nicole was no longer suspicious of him. He didn’t know what Revolutionary Arms was, but if they could save his villager then Kan was glad to be there ally. ‘Wait, this is the chance i’ve been waiting for. I can make Mommy into the Queen of this nation by using there help.’ This was a risky deal for Kan, but it would be worth it if he could make Claire into the Queen. He just had to keep on lying about his skill.
“Nicole, i’ll join your group on two conditions.”
“Name any price you want, your skill [Future Sight] is priceless.”
“I want you to guarantee that Mommy will become the Queen of this nation, and I want your group to support fully support her. If these two conditions aren’t met then I won’t won’t join Revolutionary Arms.”
“I can’t guarantee it right now, but I will make Claire into the Queen of this nation. I will convince everyone to support Claire. I promise you this as a member of Revolutionary Arms and as Nicole Blaine.”
The conversation had derailed from there initial talks about saving the village, but it wasn’t a problem for Kan. Even if he made a dubious promise to join Revolutionary Arms, this was preparation for the future. Kan had only been thinking about saving the village, but with Nicole talking about Revolutionary Arms, it was a chance for Kan to realize that he needed to also think about the future.
“Big Sister Nicole, let’s get back on topic. I need you to go meet my parents tomorrow to discuss the plans with them. And can you also bring back a drop of blood from your companions.”
“Is it for the formation?”
“Yes, we need a drop of blood from them so the formation will recognize them as allies. Oh, if you can, when you meet with my parents, can you also bring Jane along with you.”
“Jane?”
“I don’t think my parents will trust you right away, but if Jane is there, i’m sure she can convince them that you aren’t a bad person.”
“I see.”
Kan didn’t really have a reason for Jane to be with Nicole besides sticking the two anomalies together. Both Nicole and Jane were major factors in saving Clear View, so it was better for them to be together. And it was also good for Jane to spend more time with Nicole.
“One last thing, can you also keep it a secret that I was the one who came up with this plan.
“Ok.”
……
“Only two days left. The day after tomorrow is going to be dangerous. *Haaahh. I hope my preparations were enough.”
Kan sighed to himself as he was staring at the night sky from his room. After the negotiations with Nicole, they had gone their separate ways. Nicole had gone to meet her allies while Kan had gone to Don’s place. Kan had gone in hopes of learning more about being a Material Locksmith, but all he did was fail. Unlike like becoming a combat or mage locksmith, becoming a material locksmith was difficult for Kan.
Kan continued to admire the night sky. The stars were sparkling brightly since there was no clouds in the sky. But the most amazing thing was the 3 moons. Kan didn’t know why, but the 3 moons felt abnormal to him. A vague feeling was telling him that the stars and the moons were vastly different from what he knew. But it shouldn’t be, since these were the stars and moons that he has always seen as a child. Eventually the stars and moons became a fleeting thought as he slowly fell asleep.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
