《Infinity》Chapter 12

With the fear of war to come, we began our research and outputting unique, strange, and powerful technology. A staggering 40% of all known humans so far had already migrated here, with more instant structures being set up as housing. The Xiz’tooh had agreed to our terms, and their infrastructural tech had been added to our own, and assisting me and the other 36 ‘original’ humans(which is the nickname we’d given to ourselves) in our research and the setup of the Infinite Councils. In the future the originals would each create a clan, and all the clans would work together to reach the goals of the Infinite Councils. The leader of the clan would be able to elect nine other members of his clan to be a part of the council, and they would vote on things. Unfortunately, our fears for war came. A Heiive messenger came in the middle of the day carrying a war declaration. Zin-honest to god- tried to shoot the messenger, the fucking moron. We let the guy go though, and we had asked for a preparation time of two days. By Heiive war law, and because they actually aren’t dicks, you could state a specific date for the war to begin, within a week. And thus it began, the war where the Infinite Councils became recognized as a technological and military threat.
“The war begins in three hours people, we need to get into formation and prepare. Set up the barricades, get the Kyper Bikes ready to go, get everyone ammo and geared up. Check and double-check, and get yourselves as prepared as possible. Get those scatter shields up, they’re the only defense we have against those plasma lasers!” I barked out, giving orders. Over the last day and a half, we had geared up for war. ArcLancers had been distributed, and we had readied a few surprises for the Heiive. Unfortunately, we didn’t have as many people as them, or nearly as many soldiers. We were going to have to resort to hard countering their tech. Scatter shields could be placed anywhere on the body, and they were pretty neat. We had molded them to fit mostly around our bodies, but not the weaponry, so while it did let the weapons get destroyed, it wouldn’t interfere with weapon fire. What it did, was it rapidly created an invisible shield, that vibrated insanely quickly, and with such intensity that it scattered really short wavelengths like UV light, but not actual light, allowing our visible spectrum to come through, but not lasers and other nasties. It also just screwed up plasma(due to low densities of particles, and it indirectly being cooled down, with the air moving with it.), lightning,(electricity was thrown about in every direction, shortening the damage to a static shock), and lots of energy weaponry. Their weapons infused plasma particles with X-rays, which added up to extreme melting and cutting power, long ranges, and insanely effective against any sort of armor whatsoever. However, it did take about ten seconds before you could fire again. Our scatter shields could take two to three hits according to what we know, which would make their weapons highly ineffective, or at least, until the scatter shields went down, in which case we were toast. Our Kyper Bikes were a surprise to be reserved for later.

As everyone got into position, the timer counted down. With five minutes left, we sent the Kyper Bikes out, with Wrang, Sulf, Buo, and Oxy leaving on them. I’d stay with Zin and Chom to guard this first city we’d set up. The other originals were either guarding other startup cities, launching attacks, or establishing diplomatic connections with the neighboring factions and empires. Then, ten seconds after the timer hit zero, beams erupted from the trees, hitting some troops’ scatter shields, with a loud fizzle, and some multicolored rays of light bouncing off the shields. The light, almost clear, orange rays shooting across the battlefield. I heard the sound of 200 ArcLancers firing in return, with the lightning bolts streaking across the grassy field and into the trees, which were met by loud screams of pain. Chom pinpointed them on our radar, showing our troops where to shoot, and with the new info on their location, Zin began to fire off shot after shot into the woods from his pocket railgun, getting kills. I ran among the troops, and bolstered their shields.
“Charge! Cut em’ up from close range!” I screamed across the battlefield. I gave myself a powerful magic shield and began to fire arcane missiles from my palms. They began to retreat, and we peppered them with ArkLancer fire and the occasional spell. The battle was over. I felt a ping from my radio. One of the infantry missions was being met with an overwhelming force at one of their more influential bases. The Foorn were a powerful part of the Heiive, with it being one of the most militarily strong clans. I hopped on a Kyper Bike and signaled for another group that had succeeded in their assault to meet with me. It was only the first 15 minutes, and yet we were already winning, hopefully, there wouldn’t be too many casualties, on either side.
