《Blinker》Chapter 5: Blink!

[Would you like to learn the skill [Blink ☆☆☆☆]?]
Hell yeah I would!
I mean, come one, who wouldn’t want to learn this?
It better not be something stupid like helping me actually blind cause that would be fucking stupid. I’m pretty sure I’m a master at blinking.
The skill book disappeared and a screen came up with the description of the skill.
[Blink ☆☆☆☆]
[Allows the user to move one meter away from their current position in any direction. Requires 10 mana per usage. User may expend 10 extra MP for an extra meter traveled.]
Woah…. Isn’t this… hella OP?
Wait… but I don’t have mana. Or does my stat menu just not show it?
Whatever, I’m just gonna do it.
I technically didn’t really know how to activate this skill. For [Throw ☆] I just threw rocks and I just hit whatever I aimed at and I wasn’t really sure if it was my own skill or the skill was assisting me.
I just willed myself to magically move one meter in front of me.
I felt myself being drained of energy and suddenly I felt an indescribable rush, like I was on a roller coaster and I found myself a meter away from my previous spot.
“Woah... That was epic.”
*Ding*
[You have discovered mana by using a special skill [Blink ☆☆☆☆]
I opened the menu and saw that MP was added next to my HP and I only had 17 MP. Because I used [Blink] just now I only had seven MP left.
Damn, because of my small mana pool I could only use [Blink] once in fight, which would probably be enough to get behind my enemy and finish them off by stabbing them in the back. But it wouldn’t be useful if there was more than one opponent unless I had a lot more mana.

I slowly waited for my MP bar to fill up. I noticed that it took roughly five freaking minutes for one mana point to regenerate. That is simply ridiculous. So I had to wait 15 minutes before I had enough mana to use [Blink] again.
I really need a way to gain more mana.
There was a stairway that led downstairs deeper into the dungeon. If what the Dungeon Master said was true and he wasn’t leading me into a trap, then I could get out of this place by the third floor.
But I’m pretty sure that the monsters get stronger and more dangerous the deeper I go so I have to be careful.
If anything I’ll just come back up to the first floor if things go bad. Plus, I have my new [Blink] skill as a trump card to escape, and I’m pretty sure this knife will come in handy. It’s made of better material than this crappy goblin spear but I’m still gonna keep it just in case.
I made up my mind and descended down the dungeon.
I was really starting to get hungry. The only thing I ate today was the fish I caught earlier during the day. God, that feels like an eternity ago. I can’t believe I killed four goblins, a hundred snakes and dozens of slimes, in just ONE DAY!
I could have never imagined doing this in the previous world. In fact, this is the most productive I’ve been since I graduated high school.
When I finally reached the 2nd floor, the horrible stench hit me like a semi-truck. The smell of rotten meet and other disgusting things that I couldn’t describe filled my nostrils and I almost puked.
I was wary of my surroundings and proceeded cautiously.
*Moan*
I heard a moan coming up from in front of me. And it wasn’t one of those pleasurable moans when people are having sex… not that I would know *ahem*, porn, *ahem*.

Their figure gradually became clearer the closer they got and the smell got more intense also.
Zombies. Those were the godforsaken monsters that decided to show up this time.
Maggots were eating their brains and rotting pieces of skin and muscle were hanging off of them.
Surprisingly they weren’t as slow as I imagined zombies would be. They weren’t limping either. They were walking just fine.
Luckily there were only two of them and once they saw me they moaned even louder and their speed increased to a somewhat light jog.
I gripped the spear tightly with my left hand and held my new knife in my right and readied myself for my possible death.
The zombies both lunged at me and I sidestepped to the one on the left and stabbed it with my spear straight into its neck. There was no blood as I pulled my spear out and the zombie just stared at me like it was a joke.
How could I be so stupid and forget that the only way to kill zombies is by stabbing them in the brain?
They both lunged at me again and I moved backwards and while slashing them with my knife and poking them with my spear. Bits and pieces of their hands and arms were splattered on the ground and I was getting tired but I found my chance and cut off the hand of the zombie on the right. But it didn’t seem to deter them at all and I was starting to panic.
I felt like I had no choice and I finally decided to use [Blink] when one of the zombies got too close for comfort and I suddenly appeared behind them as I felt my mana draining again.
I quickly turned around and stabbed one of the zombies in the back of the head with my spear and with increased urgency I stabbed the other one in the base of the neck where the spine was with my knife.
They both fell down to the ground and I too fell to my knees gasping for breath.
‘Shit… this is fucking crazy. How am I gonna get out of here?’

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. Book 1 is complete. Book 2 is complete and coming out M-W-F.
