《Drak's Chronicle (old)》Chapter 3

After I entered the closet the door closed behind me. I was temporarly blinded when I was teleported from the complete blackness of the closet to the all bright all white room I was in now. Sitting behind a white metal desk in the middle of the room was a hooded figure. A gauntleted hand came out from its robe and pointed to the seat across from it.
“Welcome drak if im allowed to call you that im going to be your guide through this exam.” It said with a deep gravely masculine sounding voice.
Taking the seat, “Of course you can, so what do I call you?”
“You can just call me the guide, for now.” He replied. “Please keep most of your questions till the end of the exam. Even tho we call it an exam there is no pass fail. This is meant to figure out what your base characteristics are and what paths to start you out on. Also there are no set amount of tests as after the first few standerd ones the rest will be tailored to you. Now any questions about what I just explained?”
“Not really” I replied “As you said better to keep the questions until last, I expect most of them will be answered during the test anyways.”
“Ok lets start with the racial scan then. If you could step onto the red circle behind you we will do the quick scan.” The guide gestured past me.
I got up and turned around seeing the red circle that wasnt there when I came in. “This wont hurt me will it?” I asked with a bit of trepidation.
“Dont worry you wont feel a thing” The guide chuckled.
So I stepped inside the circle. As soon as I stood still the glow intensified and slowly the circle raised itself up from the ground, rose until it was over my head and then disappeared.

“See that wasnt so hard was it” the guide gestured to the seat again. He made some paper appear in front of him. “Hmm interesting havent seen one of you before.”
As soon as he said that I started to get worried “whats wrong?”
“Nothings wrong you’re apparantly a very rare hybrid” the guide replied. “Here let me bring it up on your status, while in the exam room I have access to it.”
Race: Revenant (half human half vampire)
Ok seems like im going to have a lot of questions for my father at least. But what does my race mean for me?” I asked. This might explain why I never knew my mother. Me and my father moved to Masterdam when I was barely out of diapers.
“We will get to that at the end of the tests.” And the guide closed the status screen again. “Now the next test is a phych test followed by an iq test. You will get a bunch of papers. You will have one hour for the psych test, don't worry if you can finish all the answers. Also nobody will ever see these tests so fill them in as accurately as possible. After that hour is done you will have an hour for the iq test. Again don't worry if you cant finish all the answers but I do advise you to skip any questions you have trouble with and then go back at the end.”
The next hour was filled with strange questions like if you were a animal what animal would you be, and if your choice was between diverting a flood to save your father or for it to hit the village what would you pick. (I know your curious so, I picked wolf honorable and fierce protector of the pack/family. And id save the village of course.. My father can swim.)

After that came a ton of difficult questions that anyone whose ever done an iq test will be familiar with, so again I wont bore you with those.
As soon as the two hours were up and I handed in the tests with the guide the scenery changed. We seemed to be in some big field with a road running in a big circle around us. In the middle were racks filled with different weapons and training dummies.
“Now onto the physical tests. We will start with weapons. For this test the system will make you an expert with each weapon you pick up. You can try out as many and as few as you like, I suggest you go for the ones that interest you or fascinate you the most. Then try and do some manuavers and strikes on a training dummy with it to see if the weapon feels right for you or not before moving on to the next.”
I started walking down the rows and rows of weapons ranging from the mundane swords and spears to strange contraptions that just looked like big sticks with a metal tube attached. When I asked the guide he told me they were firearms, very rare in my part of the world but common on some of the other continents.
My eye fell on a strange looking staff it seemed from afar like someone attached two baseball bats handle to handle. “Ahh I see your eye has fallen on the very versatile double swordstaff.” He gestured for me to pick it up. Inspecting it more closely it was almost as tall as me. (wich is just over 6 feet by the way) “The two bits of what look like wood on the ends are actually sheaths disguising blades. You can use it as either a staff in its current form. With a simple command remove one of the sheaths to form it into a kind of spear with a very long blade or have both sheaths disappear and have a double bladed sword”
I went over to the training dummies and tried it out. When in staff form it was long enough to break bones if swung hard enough but would be mostly usefull as a walking staff or to deal blunt damage to things. The spearstaff configuration could be used to both stab like a spear or devastating slashes as the blade itself was about 2 and a half foot in length, great versus mounted opponents or single targets. The double blade configuration wich was two of those swords with the handle in the middle would be great for being in the think of the fighting and for a bit more close quarters. All in all a very versatile weapon. Switching between the modes seemed to be very easy as it could be done with just a thought with the sheaths magically appearing and disappearing. After doing a bit more of testing, I was having a lot of fun with this weapon, I put it back on the rack it came from.
Over the course of the next few hours I tried out some more of the weapons including some of the firearms but none appealed to me as much as the swordstaff.
“Ok now that we have figured out what your preferred weapons are, the sword the staff and the spear. The swordstaff actually uses all three proficiencies depending on what configuration its in. We can move on to the next challenge which happens to be my favorite”
