《Drak's Chronicle (old)》Chapter 8

When we got to the guildhall Janice greeted us as usual and showed us to the back where the guildmaster was already expecting us. This time he was in his regular study. Two side walls lined with oak bookcases filled with books and the wall behind his mahogany desk was filled with filing cabinets. Apparently the job of guildmaster was filled with a lot of paperwork.
Gesturing to the two seats in front of the desk. “Take a seat, I gather your finally ready to tell us about your class.”
Feeling that this was a time to keep it professional “Yes sir, im a necromancer with the commander proffesion. Wich means my summons are permanent untill I dismiss them or they are destroyed. Downside is I can only have a certain amount at the same time and the summon timer is very long. Thats all I know so far Dughan here might be able to explain more”
Dughan then took over the explanation. “The commander class is usually meant to lead small units of men, Drak here being a necromancer means that his troops will be mostly undead. I do say mostly as how his path further develops is unknown, its a very rare combination. He can only summon them per unit, size of which is dependent on his charisma score. When he levels up he can use System points or SP for short to buy upgrades to his troops. Upgrades include better weapons and armor, ill come back to those later. But can also be stuff like different mounts, or a magic banner and so on depending on the unit.”
“If a unit takes casualties they wil automatically regenerate and respawn troops until refilled. That goes very slowly tho. He might unlock upgrades or spells later that will speed it up. Now back to weapons and armour. He will have to outfit each unit initially, if all the troops in a unit have the same equipment he gets the chance to unlock the permanent upgrade for that unit type. When killed its weapons and armour will despawn as well, and when respawned the troops will have them equipped. So if a unit is all equipped with spears, and has the unlock, if one of them dies the new troop will come back with a spear instead of spawning with no weapons and having to be equipped manually. Thats all for now.”

“So what troops do you have no Drak” my dad asked.
Well lets see and I pulled up my army screen.
***
Army
Units (0/1)
Unit 1 (0/100 xp)
Squads (0/1)
Squad 1
Options: (pick one)
16 skeletons (Can be mixed equipment)
5 zombies
Regen: 1 per hour
Specialists 0/2
Options:
Zombie dogs (1 per point)
Regen 1 per day
**
“So I have only the one unit of either 16 skeletons where I can pick between sword and shield, spear or archers. I can mix and match wich I might do untill get get my level high enough for the permanent upgrade. Or I can go for the stronger but slower smaller unit of 5 zombies that cant have equipment yet, so might also be cheaper. And I can have two specialists, for now my only choice is some zombie dogs.”
At that point the guildmaster cut in. “I would probably suggest you wait to decide on your first unit type until you have a look at the missions available. I know that there is a standing mission for commanders to join the local guard if they wish. Doesn't pay much but is a steady job. Or you could have a look at the board and see if there is anything that takes your fancy. Only missions not available to you are dungeon clearances as you need a regular party for that, and if I recall summoner type commanders, wich the necromancer falls under, can only take specialists inside with them.”
As I didnt want to take orders from the cities watch commander who was a real dick, probably my best bet to start making cash would to just have a look at the mission board.
First things first tho “Dad what did you want to talk with me about?”

“Well son, if your a commander you need a place in town to station your troops and such. One of the warehouses I use for my transport carts is just inside the southern gate. Shouldnt be too hard to convert it to a barracks. Also I would offer you my services as a quartermaster, I can help you get good deals on weapons and armour and any other supplies that you might need and get them transported to your barracks.”
“Wow thanks dad, of course you can be my quartermaster.” Turning to the guildmaster “If thats all for now, my dad probably need to get back to work and I need to go check the mission board to start making some cash. I expect outfitting a unit isnt cheap.” And turning back to dad. “Shall we meet up at the warehouse,or should I say barracks, for lunch?”
“Sure it will need a little bit of work to get everything cleared out and moved, but I expect that wont bee too much of a problem as you can now just summon some extra hands.” He grinned.
And with that I went to take a look at the missionboard in the lobby of the building.
