《Kali Yuga》Chapter 3. Survive The First Day.

Huang Wen closed his eyes. His body relaxed and he let his mind drifted for a while.
He still could hear the noise of zombies, trying to push through the barricades that block the corridor. Huang Wen decided to bring more beds to block the corridor from various rooms. He saw the zombies broke through some, but most of the time they pushed it further toward the end of the corridor. Huang Wen felt his strength drained from his body. He just pushed a few more beds before walked toward the farthest room and rest.
The zombies keep pushing the stacked and jammed barricades, until they couldn't push it further, unless the walls destroyed first. After a while, the noises stopped, the zombies gave up and moved to find another victim.
Huang Wen let out a chortle, then another, few minutes later he laughed victoriously. He let out all the stress and tears started to flow down his face.
He began to think about his family, his classmates and other people out there. He laughed bitterly. He might survive but what about people out there. How about his parent? He felt ashamed. Until now he only thought about his own survival. Never he thought about his parent, not even once. It was when he finally felt secured that he began to think about them.
His hand moved toward his pocket, but he couldn't find his mobile phone. He couldn't remember whether he left it in his room or it fell during the fight.
"Ma... pa... are you safe at home?", Huang Wen walked toward the window and watched the scene out there.
Suddenly he felt so lonely, weak and small. Unconsciously he knew that even if he failed in his study, he still had his parent back at home. He already began his walk in life as an adult, but he still had his parents and family back home as his safety net.
Now, for the first time in his life, he truly on his own. Fear began to grip his heart. He just killed zombies with his own strength, but now that he realized that he was alone, the scale of the disaster began to pressure him down.
Huang Wen shook his head and got up. He moved his body to rid away the dread that grip his heart. He walked toward the windows and took a look at the situation out there.
He could see a group of zombies walked around the perimeter. There were around fifty or more out there on the field. Huang Wen walked toward the door and opened it, he saw various furniture jammed in front of it, completely blocked the corridor. Now he was safe, but he had no access to leave his dormitory, not even this room.
Huang Wen bit his lips, in his current condition there was nothing he could do to save his parent. He would have to make a long journey, covering more than one thousand kilometers to reach his home town. Deep down he also feared for his own life to make such journey. He just had to accept that he was all alone now.

He felt guilty about it, the more he thought about it the more it depressed him. Finally he shook his head and chose to focus on his new ability.
"Third eye huh? Let's see what I can do with it."
He concentrated and utilized his third eye to look at one of the zombie outside. He didn't know how he knew how to do it. The knowledge just appeared there and he automatically knew how to use it.
"Han Weitiang"
"Level: 1″
"Class: Zombie."
"Strength: 10
Agility: 2
Vitality: -
Stamina: -
Spirit: 1
Health: -"
"Zombies, the most basic form of ghouls. They carry infectious disease that will turn you into one of them through any open wounds. They have no intelligence. Their speed is low but they have above average strength and high endurance. Alone they can be easily defeated, in a group they're dangerous."
"Level 1... does it means there's going to be a level 2, 3 and so on?", Huang Wen shook his head and sighed.
"Now, I need to make a good plan. First is how to survive in this new world. If I can't even save myself, how could I expect to save other?", Huang Wen bit his lips but he realized that he had no choice.
"Okay first thing first, I'm gonna need food.", Huang Wen looked around the room.
He searched the room carefully and manage to gather dozen of instant noodles, two packs of biscuit and 2 bottles of water. He put it all in a bag.
"A bit protection, wouldn't be bad.", he said to himself, his eyes searched the room trying to find something.
At the end, he wrapped magazine around his arm and bound it with duck tape; in the similar style he duck tapped a thick textbook to cover his chest and his back. It felt weird and uncomfortable but Huang Wen ready to trade a bit of comfort with some safety measure. He knew it wouldn't be able to stand against the strength of the zombies but at the least they wouldn't easily scratch or bite and infect him.
"Okay, I'm ready to leave this room."
"The way I see it, this new world has many similarity with RPG games. The last message confirmed that I have limited slot of skills. I can learn up to 3 active skills. Good thing I haven't learned that fireball skill. I also have various basic stat. By killing zombies I accumulated experience, after reach certain threshold I reached the next level and get 2 points to distribute."
"Now, my current stat is..."
As soon as he thought about his stat an information appeared in his head:
"Huang Wen: Male"
"Level: 3 (1/12)″
"Class: None"
"Title: None"
"Strength: 6 (6)
Agility: 6 (6)
Vitality: 11(11)
Stamina: 10/14 (14)
Spirit: 15/15 (15)
Health: 11/11 (11)"
"Skills : None."
"Equipment : Wood Staff."
"I need 2 points of stamina to kill one zombie, not to mention I need to strike them twice as hard as I can, before they died. If I want to go out there, I will need more stamina, more strength and agility. At the least, I should be able to kill them with one strike, then I need enough agility to outrun them. They're slow but to escape from a group of them wouldn't be so easy. So far I manage to kill them, thanks to the environment but when its on an open field, it would be a different story."

"Hmm ... I could keep killing them within the building, setting the field to give me advantages. If I clear this floor, barricade the stairs toward the upper floor, setting obstruction on the stairs toward the lower floor, I can entice few of them from the lower floor and kill them for experience."
"The problem is, with the barricade jammed on the corridor like that, I can't leave area to explore"
"... but I guess I can make some kind of rope using bed sheets and use it to safely enter the room below. Yes, that's all that's left. Either that or use the bed sheet rope to reach the ground and run to safety... but where?"
"If I can raise my strength, probably I would need less point of stamina to kill one of them. Okay, I guess I got the rough idea to level up and get the strength to leave this building."
"Now the second question, does it happen all over the world or a localized event?"
"I bet this happened universally, I mean the law of physics, the reality itself. Everything is changed. Even if it is not, it will spread all over the world. Depend on how the government reacted, they might be in a position to control the situation. If they do, then I only need to wait until the army arrived."
When he thought about the possibility of global disaster and the loss of any form of government, Huang Wen felt threatened by the result of such situation.
"With this changes and I don't believe that I would be the only one who could level up, soon every social order would go to the trash bin."
Huang Wen lived by the book. He found safety in following the rules. By living in accord with the society standard, he could live relatively in peace.
"Since the beginning, it's about the strong prey on the weak. But no matter how strong one is, he would never be able to win against the many. Therefore, social structure was formed. We create law and order because even the strong one needs law and order to live in peace. Of course even within that order, the strong still preys upon the weak, but at the least we could pretend that there are justice. That there are righteous men who will protect the weak from the oppression. What a joke..."
Even though he lived in peace thanked to the government and social structure, he had seen enough corruption to know better than that. It could be said that his peace came from living under the protection of bullies in uniform.
Huang Wen sighed and reproached himself. Perhaps he was too much, after all, some people did try to live by the code. He knew a teacher who tried to live honestly and sincerely cared for his students. Still it didn't change the fact that with the changes, even the bullies would level up.
"With this new physical rules, the limit of human strength is expanded, in a way that no one could ever imagine. I mean fire ball, what kind of skill is that? And if you got fireball, you can bet that there will be more skill, higher skill even godly skill."
"With that kind of power, some people wouldn't play by the rules anymore. Or let's say that the game rules are changed."
"If one man could stand against thousand, even if he couldn't win, he could easily flee and hide. It would be close to impossible, to capture him. Soon or later, there will be people with such power, they will walk among us as gods and demons..."
Huang Wen shivered, all those thoughts made remembered the bullies in his past. He had grown through those period of times. His father helped him to deal with the bullies. He knew how to stand up for himself now. But now with the changes, some of the bullies would have no fear for any authoritative figures. He couldn't imagine nice people would be able to level up faster than the bad one.
Those who used to live outside the norm, those who used to rely on their strength, they would adapt faster in this kind of situation.
"I can't waste time here..."
Zombies were scary but he even scared more of bullies. Huang Wen walked toward the window, checked the situation outside and opened it.
There was no balcony, Huang Wen stretched his body out to take a look around, it seems safe, "I can use bed sheet to make some rope. Should I move toward the room below? Or should I try to move toward the ground?"
Huang Wen watched the field before him. It wasn't that cluttered with zombies. Since they walked slower than normal human, it wouldn't be too hard to slip between them. The problem was, he only had enough stamina to kill seven zombies, he needed some rest to recover after that. If by that time he can't find a safe place to rest, then he would be in grave danger.
Huang Wen didn't waste time. He had decided that he needed to gain experience as much as he can. Since there were six beds in each room, it wasn't hard to make a bed sheet rope long enough to reach the room below.
By the time he finished with all of the preparation, his stamina already fully recovered, "Okay, now or never."

And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.
