《Do Dungeons Dream of Goblins?》Dungeon Destruction Part 1

“That dungeon was really easy I can’t believe we had wasted that magical core trying to fight it.” Gloated Sara
“Says you, you weren’t the one who died and I can’t believe you guys didn’t kill the thing after it escaped.” John said
“It wasn’t our fault that thing was too fast before we could react it dragged you underwater, I’m sorry.” Barry said
“That thing was too quick and didn’t really try to fight us, if we see it again will kill it immediately ok?” Beka said trying to comfort him
“Well who cares time to re-enter the dungeon we now the path we need to take now so we should be able to do it quickly and return!” Matt stated
“Agreed let's go.” Beka commanded the group nodded and re-entered the dungeon.
Once they entered the dungeon something felt different it looked the same but there was a foreboding feeling.
“Something Feels wrong like the previous run was just the dungeon making fun of us.” Whispered Barry
“I bet the dungeon just trying to creep us out come on let's defeat this dungeon and eat something warm back in the village.” Sara said
Beka nodded and continued forward raising her guard. Not too long a bunch of Stingers came. Beka used her [All-Seeing Eyes] to check their status
[Name: None]
[Race: Stinger]
[Level: 10]
[Health: 50]
[Mana: 20]
[Ability: [Minor poison beginner level 3]]
“These things have twice as much health as before!” yelled Beka
“What how is that possible?” said John
“Tsk who cares Matt launch your electric field!” Sara yelled
Matt nodded and after a short chant an electric bubble appeared around them, however the stingers unlike before stopped flying and started to surround the bubble instead of charging inside.
“What the? Their not charging like before I only have enough mana to keep this going for a minute Beka you are the only one that can attack right now without getting hurt by the barrier.” Matt said
Beka nodded her hand combined and the two twig swords became a giant scythe she started to attack the stingers. The stingers saw the scythe flew back out of range of the scythe.

“Help something is draining my mana!” Matt suddenly yelled
Beka turned around and saw a giant insect with a long proboscis, there was a blue line going from Matt to the insect. Beka used her eyes to view what this creature was.
[Name: None]
[Race: Sucker]
[Level: 10]
[Health: 100]
[Mana: 100]
[Ability: [Drain Beginner Level 4]]
Beka immediately threw a dagger she broke off her scythe the dagger went and killed the sucker. However the damage was done and the lightning field started to fade.
“I’m sorry guys it took too much mana from me!” Matt said
“Barry prepare to use your taunt, Sara defend John, Me and Matt will kill these bugs!” Beka commanded
After the lightning field faded all hell broke loose as the stingers started to charge at them. Barry let out a feral roar; this made all the stingers judge him to be the highest threat causing them to charge at him.
However there were still a few stingers that didn’t attack Barry and aimed instead for John. This was because John emitted light due to his profession; because of this many masters would aim him to get rid of this light.
As the monsters started to attack, Beka used her wooden scythe to slice at the swarm. Barry even though heavily armored still got stung in the joints of his armor. He was however able to use his shields to squish the stingers across the floor and other places.
Matt drank a minor mana potion to restore his mana that was drained, and started firing small lightning bolts that kept jumping from stinger to stinger killing them.
John was healing Barry while Sara defended him by slashing any incoming stingers that went off the main swarm.
After 4 minutes of continually squishing stingers, the swarm was gone replaced was a group of incredibly tired adventurers. Matt and John had gone through half of their mana potions; Barry was in bad shape as the poison from the stingers stacked, so even though John cured the poison he was still feeling the pain from all the stings. Sara and Beka were the only one still energetic as Beka had amazing stamina and Sara just needed to defend John from the stingers.

“This dungeon seems to have increased the difficulty and new monsters are appearing be careful everyone monster intelligence also seemed to increase. Also next swarm we meet, Matt save your mana potion for the boss same for John. Also John only heal and purify Barry once his health is low we need to conserve mana as this dungeon has no safe areas to rest.” Beka ordered
The group nodded and started to proceed more slowly. As they went along 2 more swarms appeared however Beka and the group were now able to more efficiently kill them, also whenever suckers would appear the group would target them first.
The group also steered away from the water to avoid surprise attacks from ampigators. John heavily insisted on this.
Well they saw the entrance to the next floor; they heard a low grumbling and 4 Ampigators appeared surrounding them. Beka quickly used her eyes to look at them.
[Name: None]
[Race: Ampigator]
[Level: 10]
[Health: 1500]
[Mana: 500]
[Abilities: [Sound Blast intermediate Level 1] [Swimming Max] [Stone Skin beginner Level 7] [Tail Whip intermediate level 1] [Crunch Beginner level 3]]
“Careful they have a new ability on them!” Beka warned
Instead of charging the adventurer group, created a circular formation with Beka, Sara and Barry on the outside and Matt and John in the inside.
The Ampigators instead of charging and biting the group had their back spikes start to glow white.
“Careful it seems they are charging an attack, Sara you and I will attack Barry you defend both Matt and John.” Beka commanded
After saying that both Beka and Sara rushed forward to attack one of the ampigators, Matt started to chant his own spell while Barry took out both of his shields.
The Ampigators seeing the group charged released their Sound Blast attacks knocking both Beka and Sara back; While Barry took the brunt of the other two attacks. Since the two attacks were sound based Barry was knocked unconscious, as the sound entered his armor and started to bounced around.
“Barry is down! And I can’t bring him up.” Yelled John, even though he could heal injuries and resurrect people, someone being unconscious or asleep was things John couldn’t heal.
“Sara you go handle the other two and I’ll handle these two alone Matt prioritize help for Sara.” Beka ordered
Matt nodded and Sara changed her attack target. Finally Matt finished his chant and a lightning spear appeared in his hands he launched the spear at one of the ampigators heavily damaging it.
Matt started to charge another lightning bolt as Sara and another ampigator both attacked each other. Beka had switched from a scythe to two hammers and was using both to attack the two ampigators.
John was either healing Beka or Sara to prevent their health from going too low while unaware to them a Spitter appeared and used it's tongue to swallow Barry and quickly run away.
Beka was quickly able to finish the ampigators she was facing and then went to help Matt and Sara. After joining the fray the remaining two ampigators were quickly slain.
“Guys… where is Barry?” Matt nervously asked
John looked around and said, “Do you think one of the monsters was able to take advantage of the confusion and ate him?”
“That’s hard to believe I mean we faced all the monsters that were supposed to be on this floor.” Sara said
“No you are forgetting those frogs before we only saw them on the second floor but maybe there was a couple on this floor we didn’t see.” Beka said
The group was silent for a couple of seconds before Sara started to cry, this was an actual death not like before where they would revive once they completed the dungeon. After an hour of getting their emotions together the group decided to avenge their fallen compatriot and slay this dungeon with that in mind they went to the second floor.

I was Reborn as the Villainess but I will become a Great Sage
Nova Allandis, formerly known as Suna Lee, remembers her previous life and realizes her current life is as the villainess in a fantasy novel she once read. However, as Suna, she was the laziest person with no motivation, possibly attributed to the fact that she didn't go into a major that was her strongest suit. Now that she has a high affinity towards magic and wishes to go into it, will she be able to change her lazy self for the better, or will she go back to being lazy like the villainess in the novel? Can she become a Great Sage and live life happily this time? Note: This is not a "revenge of the villainess" novel, but rather a "rise to fame" novel. A/N: This is just an experimental novel and criticisms are much appreciated, but I'm extremely defensive of my own work and characters. If you are here to put down a novel, please remember, first of all, you are not paying anything to read this, and second of all, authors are humans too.

RE: Choice
Misaka is a shy misunderstood 16-year-old boy in his first year of high school in Japan. His parents wanted him to be a girl, so they gave him a girl's name. He grew up being bullied and ostracized by his peers. In junior high, he developed a crush on a girl in another school who greeted him with a smile. Later, he found out the girl's name was Lucy and applied to the high school she was going to. One year later, he musters up the courage to confess his feelings for her only to find out that she was the wrong girl all along. Suddenly, a piano falls on top of him and he dies.He finds himself in front of one that calls himself God. He takes pity on Misaka and bestows him with the name Durrendal. He gives him another chance at life in another world and lets him pick a power of his choosing to take into the world. Story is going to be heavy reader interactive. Expect short frequent chapters. One chapter every few days. Two per week minimum. If I feel like it, more than that.Your choices WILL influence the story. It determines whether you get a game over (may discover new information), go around in circles never advancing the story, or advancing the story. Consequences of certain actions will shift Durrendal toward evil or good. The default personality of Durrendal may be ""pervy"" but depending on the actions that he takes it can be reversed. Think of the character as a game character. You are playing a game. It does not require that you make an account to vote. So screw around or advance the story? It's up to you.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
