《I reincarnated as an octopus - There has to be a mistake》The Kelp Forest
Advertisement
Making sure I’m not noticed by the school of guppies I make my way towards the coral forest. The guppies might actually be pretty docile since the guppy that attacked me only did that when I attacked it but it’s better safe than sorry. Slipping past the fish’s notice I wander around aimlessly. I should finish a new cave while I’m at this now that I think about it. I still fit in the cave but I’m pretty sure if I evolve another time I won’t be able to get in or out.
To my right is the coral forest which eventually leads to the clearing where I found the swarm of Blade Sardines. To my left is where my cave is and behind me is where I found the Rock Grouper. I guess I’ll go forwards then. As I progress forwards the number of corals starts to drop which makes it harder for me to hide, eventually I stop seeing corals all together, and instead large green plants are all I can seem to find. I stop and use inspect on the long vine-like plant.
[Giant Kelp]
[Large kelp that can extend all the way to surface from the sea bed that grows predominantly in deeper waters]
So this vine-like plant is kelp… can I… eat it? I eye the kelp suspiciously half expecting it to come to life and try to kill me. After I confirmed it isn’t going to try to kill me I take a bite into it. After everything I’ve eaten, I’m not going to be surprised if this tastes like sand, but it’s surprisingly tasteless. Huh. It’s not that bad considering half of what I’ve eaten taste either like rocks or is poison. As I get ready to take another bite out of the kelp I notice a fruit growing above me on the kelp. I use inspect on the fruit.
[Kelp Fruit]
[They generally grow near the surface of the water and are packed with nutrients but is acidic]
I stop reading right after I see nutrients and I eat the fruit in one gulp. Wow, this is pretty tasty but why does my tongue feel numb?
[Acid Resistance lvl 1 has leveled up]
[You have lost 3 hp]
Ah, that’s because I don’t have a tongue… AH!!! My beak. It burns! I start moving around wildly as the acid is burning my beak.
[Pain Resistance lvl 2 has leveled up]
The pain becomes a bit more bearable and I stop thrashing like a mad octopus. Soon I come back to my sense and I feel like an absolute imbecile. Of course, I had to eat the fruit before I finished reading. Fucking retard. Next time read the entire description I scold myself as I give a good wack to my head. I swim away from the seaweed and continue swimming in a straight line.
About an hour passes and I don’t find anything of real interest except some clams and more of those horrible sea cucumbers. While I was busily searching for a new cave since I’m still pretty stuff from eating that Rock Grouper, I was back to full health and my mana was up to 10 out of 18. I look around and all I see is kelp. I’m getting real tired of just seeing kelp.
[You have lost 2 hp]
Near the base of my body, a needle has pierced me. What the… my body starts to go slightly numb.
[Paralysis Resistance lvl 1 has been acquired]
I look at where I was shot from and I see a black porcupine-like creature. I use inspect on the porcupine.

Race: Sea Urchin
LvL: 1/6
HP: 4/4
MP: 0
Rank: O+
Status: Normal
It’s a rank O… I feel confident after seeing the rank of the sea urchin. It shoots off another needle from its own body which I easily dodge. I move closer to the Urchin. How did it see me? I look at its spiky black body but I can’t seem to see any form of eyes. I try to rotate it to see what’s underneath but it has thorns everywhere. I pull out the thorn that was lodged into my body and rotate it with the thorn. It took sometime before I got it to rotate. I continue looking at its body but I still couldn’t find any eyes. I noticed it had a beak just like me. The Urchin realized it was flipped over and started to flip itself back. Huh… no eyes. How did it hit me tho? Did it just randomly shoot it? No, that wouldn’t make sense. I swim away from it and I use acid shot.

I look at the melted sea urchin and start to wonder how it would taste. I quickly put aside that thought and got ready to swim away when I saw a cloud of green smoke. I looked at the cloud when I saw the fastest fish that I have ever seen in my life. What the? Before I could finish what I was saying, a shark fell to the bottom of the sea bed unmoving. The fish looked disgruntled and turned its face towards me and it started to roar at me. I quickly used to inspect as the fish started to slowly make its way towards me.
Race: Brimestone Gasfish
LvL: 7/30
HP: 17/30
MP: 3/10
Rank: D+
Status: Enraged(large), bleeding(small)
Okay, what the fuck. It’s D+ and it has a max health of 30!? Even though it has lost half of its health it still has more health than me. Also, this guy has mana? The fish starts charging at me and then out of its mouth a large ball of what I think is acid gets shot at me. I quickly dodge the massive ball of acid and return fire with 3 acid shots to the face.
[You have dealt 1 damage]
I’m fucked aren’t I. The tub of lard after it noticed I wasn’t dead yet roared at me once more and charge again. It wasn’t moving that fast but it was still faster than me. I check it’s health and I find that it lost another 2 health for some reason. The fish seems to be smarter than the Rock Grouper and it doesn’t mindlessly charge at me. It gets close to me and tries to smash me with its circular hammer-like tail or, continue spitting acid.
It may be smarter but then again the Rock Grouper most likely had a rock for a brain. I get ready to shoot out more acid at the fish but that’s when it sped up all of a sudden. Oh shit. I try dodging but the gasfish moves too fast for me and tears into my flesh.
[You have lost 5 hp]
[You have been posioned]
Ahhh! Fuck. I quickly return fire with a bite on the wounded side of the fish.
[You have dealt 4 damage]
The Brimestone Gasfish’s tail starts to glow green. This does not look good. I send out a cloud of ink as I make my way out but the fish still has my tentacle stuck in its mouth. Let go you stupid animal. I start pulling harder and harder but the fish won’t let go. I’m not sure what’s it’s doing but I’m sure I wouldn’t want to be in the middle of water ever it was going to do. I check the fishes stats and it appears that it has dropped to 7 hp due to the bleeding effect. I use my newest magic skill [Whirlpool] with all my mana and fire it right into its face. At that same moment, the fish finished whatever it was charging up and then a green gas starts to appear from its tail.

The whirlpool I had unleashed started to tear at the both of us and the current had pulled in the green gas before it could reach me. I clenched my beak in pain as I felt 2 of my tentacle that was stuck in it mouth being torn apart. As soon as I was freed from its jaw I again unleashed another ink cloud and started to swim against the current that was pulling me in by the whirlpool.

My vision starts to darken as I brutally try to fight against the current, in normal circumstances I would have managed to swim away but I’m missing two tentacles and 4 of them are wounded. My vision nearly fades but the Whirlpool has died down and I’m able to swim away.
[Exhaustion Resistance lvl 1 has leveled up]
As the whirlpool dies down the green gas that was trapped within it starts to spread and the Brimestone Gasfish sinks to the bottom of the seabed. I slowly start moving towards the fat fish.

Even after having its health dropped to 2 the fish continue to struggle and tries to fight me but it’s too wounded to move. It squirms as it tries to bite me. I got to hand it to you, if you were at full health you most likely would have finished me off with ease. The only reason I won was because, you were already pretty hurt. Slowly the fish starts to stop squirming as it bleeds profusely. I look into its eye as it stops squirming. Thank you. I then sink my beak into it.

That was intense. I looked around at my newly updated status. I was Poisoned by that fight and to make it worse I was pretty low on health. I watched my health for some time but nothing happened. After I made sure that nothing was going to happen for a while I noticed it was still midday. I had a Brimstone Gasfish carcass and some sort of shark.
Race: Wolf Shark
Rank: D-
Status: Dead
What happened to the other stats? Health, mana, and lvl stats are missing… Do they disappear when you die? I check my health to see if there has been any change so far and luckily nothing has changed as of now. Why did this dude attack that huge fish? Its opponents rank was much higher than itself… I don’t get it? Was it hungry or was it not fast enough to escape the gasfish? I look around trying to search for a clue when I come across an egg sac of some sort. I look at the egg in confusion. Where did this come from? I look at the egg and it seems that there is some sort of fish inside the sac.
Wait, is this that shark’s baby! If it is that would make sense as to why the shark didn’t just flee but fought the gasfish. I’m starting to regret feeling bad for that fish earlier. The egg sac seemed to be attached to the kelp. What do I do?... Should I eat it…
I remember about mother when she gave up her life fighting the crab instead of running away. That shark fought trying to protect her young instead of running away. Eating this egg sac would be mocking her attempt to protect the baby. A sense of respect builds up with me towards the shark. Guess I’ll keep it then.
I’m still not that hungry so I guess I’ll eat the Brimstone Gasfish later. Right now I have to focus on finding shelter but I don’t think I’m going to find any here. I look around me to see more kelp. I have to make one won’t I…
I start digging into the ground near one of the kelp and start piling up the sand into a mound. After an hour or two of digging at the sand making a cave of sorts from the sand, I swim towards the egg sac and cut it off the kelp. I was afraid that I was going to end up accidentally biting the egg but I managed to sever the connection to the kelp. I slowly drag the egg towards my new den and place it inside at one corner. My new cave is four times bigger than the last one and I’ve even made a door out of kelp I’ve tied together to seal the entrance.
[Posion Resistance lvl 1 has leveled up]
I check my status to see I’ve lost one hp which puts me at 3 hp so I don’t feel very safe right now. On the brightside the poisoned status has turned from small to tiny. I look around my skills once more and I remember about the alter skill that I had got from the evolution. If I remember correctly, the mechanical voice said it’s something about chasing my physical characteristics or something like that… I’m not sure how it works but I think it’s related to the image of myself I saw when I doing my evolution and made some changes to myself. I’m worried that alter might actually be something else but even if alter isn’t what I thought it to be there’s no harm in trying is there. Welp. [Alter]. I start feeling really tired and before I know it I’m already asleep.

A-Live AI
The year is 2247. For almost two hundred years Sentient AI research has been banned. Everyone knew this, and yet no one has ever given up on finding the perfect setup for it. Restricted AI are rare, but possible to get ahold of if you have the money and the clout to get through the law for it. Especially when it deals with the military. Alfred Homis is an engineer and has spent the last three years working for the United Terran Military's Research and Exploration Department. Specifically to help build a 'shackled' AI who's prime directive was to explore potentially habitable worlds. Worlds that are far cheaper to colonize and add to the United Terran Directorate's fold than terraforming. During the AI's maiden voyage things go horribly wrong, taking Alfred Homis along for the ride. Thrown into a parallel universe where the laws of physics are just a little messed up, Alfred finds himself trapped inside the very machine he'd helped to build. Add magic, hostile fantasy creatures, and two different pantheons of 'Gods' to the mix and things get even more complicated. Oh, and an invasion between universes to boot. But that's just all in a days work though for Alfred, the AI Lord. Authors Note: Hi guys! Long time no see. And yes, I know that's all on me. But I blame life for that. Anyway, this is my new work, and I hope you guys enjoy it! The chapters are a little shorter than I'd previously posted in my other stories, but I cannot say that I have the same amount of time or energy to write them like that anymore. Sorry about that. Still, some warnings: There is cursing in this story. I am not going to edit it out. There will be sexual content later. Blood, gore and cruel depictions are all planned. If that isn't your thing, I'd suggest you turn back now. There is also my dry, and often not-so-funny sense of humor. And oh, it's all in first person gain. Haha. I just tend to write better that way. If none of that bothers you, then enjoy the read! Feel free to comment, point out mistakes, or make suggestions! Reviews are nice too, but please lay off the criticism until the story gets good and going. Thank you. Note 1: Some edits to the synopsis.
