Meanwhile 19 - Freedom
*This one needs some work, I think. Need to get better with drunken colloquialisms*
~At a bar, located near the edge of the galaxy~
"I use to think freedom was a real thing you know?"
"Why isn't it?"
" B'cause... no matter what you do, you live and then you die."
"What?"
"Listen. Freedom is when you can do whatever you want right? When nobody can tell you what you can and can't do.
I'm saying that we're all limited by livin' 'n dyin', no matter what you can't choose anything to do."
"I think I get that. That is kind of depressing."
"It's not that bad. Its like.... perfection. Its an unobtainable something we all want but can never have.
There's nothing wrong with getting as close to it as you can."
"So besides living and dying, what else can stop you from being free?"
"Other people, mostly. They enforce living and dying all the time. Another person can give birth to you, that same person can kill you.
You can fight back against the dying part but.... well, the living sometimes comes down to the laws of nature."
"You mean natural selection?"
"No, I mean quarks and shit. We can't do anything about how our dna comes together when we get conceived."
"I guess so..."
"Yeah. So; life, death, nature, and people. Maybe people belong in nature... but nature never really makes it personal you know?
Those four things are the basics. From there... heh... people get all sortsa fun concepts to help them cope. Like "fate" or "destiny" or "karma" or even..."
"?"
"Purpose. Purpose also is a constraint to freedom. Tha's a hard one for people. People need purpose... but purpose is what holds them back."
"..."
"Well, I'm just passing on some of my little insights in life. Just wanted to let you know I did my best to be free.
Also, I understand... its nothing personal. It's natural. It's people."
"It's people."
~That day, Kerthuim drank his last Hartuasiam Braindeath with his assassin. The assassins name.... well, much like natural disasters, the code name of the assassin was "White Death"~

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
