《Born of Valar》Chapter 20

It soon became clear that all the giants were confident in the illusions of Utgard-Loki, as the giantess merely lead Tyr in zigzags and circles before stopping behind Utgard-Loki's throne.
"This shall be your room for the night." she said with a straight face though Tyr thought there was a mischievous look in her eyes. the space was mostly empty save for a bench over to one side, though Tyr decided to check and see if that was supposed to be there.
"Is that bench real?" Tyr asked, which caused the giantess to straighten and the Jotun, who had before been mocking him as he had been led through the hall to grow quiet.
"Yes."
"Thank you for showing me here." Tyr said with a bow and then went to lay on the bench. Once Tyr had closed his eyes, he listened to the talk of the Jotun as he waited for sleep to come.
"We should kill him now and be done with it."
"You think we can even touch him? Some say that after Thor he is Asgard's strongest!"
"Then let's just lead him around like we did Thor, break his spirit and throw him out."
"We can't."
"Why, great Utgard-Loki?"
"Thor was the first of Asgard to search me out, and as such did not know of my powers until after he left. But Tyr is different, he is aware that I can cast illusions. Why else would he ask about the bench?"
"But if we just give him Ivaldi, our lives will be forfeit. What can we do, great Utgard-Loki?"
"Fear not my Jotun, I have a plan, but first, burn some sleeping incense in front of Tyr so that he may not somehow hear us or wake up from a noise."

Clever and cautious, no wonder he is one of the great Jotun leaders. I think I'll let myself be surprised.
Tyr then smelled something sweet in the air and breathed deeply, letting sleep weigh down his consciousness.
Tyr awoke the next morning feeling somewhat refreshed and calm, sitting up and seeing the same giantess approach.
"Follow me to the dining hall, Aesir." she said politely, though Tyr could see the smile she gave never reached her eyes. Tyr once more followed her zigzagged and circled pattern back to the other side of the throne where Utgard-Loki and the others waited in silence. Upon being shown a seat, one of the smaller giants brought Tyr a plate that had food that seemed to shimmer slightly and a cup of dirty water. Tyr felt the eyes of the giants staring upon them.
I get it. They are probably casting an illusion on the food to make it look like something else to match the dirty water.
Tyr then acted as though he was moving the food around looking for something to eat, which caused the all the giants save Utgard-Loki to relax. He continued to watch Tyr for a while, staring at him like as if there was a puzzle he couldn't quite figure out. Eventually, Utgard-Loki spoke softly to a servant who then came back with a pitcher and two goblets.
"Tyr, come forward."
Tyr arose and walked towards Utgard-Loki, who proceeded to pour him milk into one of the goblets and handed it to him.
"I don't know what Thor may have said to you, but deception is not our specialty."
Tyr accepted the goblet and drank deeply before responding.
"Thor did not say anything to me about you. But tales of your abilities reached across the realms. Likewise, I am sure deception is but one skill you have in these halls, though not your greatest."

"That runt has gall saying that here." muttered a Jotun to Tyr left.
"And what do you think my greatest skill is, Jarl Tyr?" asked Utgard-Loki, shimmering an illusion in front of Tyr to him that he held up his hand to stop whoever was behind Tyr.
"I think it to be your charisma. I do not know of any other among the Jotun who can have Thought and Old Age serve them like you. Perhaps I am ignorant of these matters, but you are truly great among the Jotun rulers in ways they cannot yet match."
"Flattery is wasted in these halls Aesir, though not necessarily unwelcome." said Utgard-Loki.
"Nevertheless, we must remember your visit is not social. If you wish to have Ivaldi, then you must win him and the others in a few contests. Are you willing?"
"What is the first one to be?"

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.

This story follows Jack Chaque-Travail, an Illusionist determined to usher in the next generation of Druids to make sure he doesn't have to watch the earth die around him. 'Come with WildWise™ and get away from the buzz of the city and towards the buzz of the sacred bee!' as quoted from their website. As years have gone by, and ozone has deteriorated, Druid training is less summoning treants and more kumbaya-ing. Join Jack as he grifts his way through being a childrens educator, cheating and tricking them into being valuable members of society.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
