Chapter 12:Being Led In Circles

Luckily 10 minutes passed and no one came by to claim my sword and 5 copper coins. I revived myself. Picked up my sword and ran to an area to wait for my health to restore to full. People can restore their health and mana through sitting in a meditation pose in this game. After 5 minutes of meditating I got back up. I really need to go buy some health potions, and mana potions later.

This time I found another fox. I charged forward and thrust my rusty sword into her or it could be a him. It is not like they have guide tell me the gender of each monster I kill. This time I killed it in less than 15 seconds. I saw the other foxes swarm around me again. This time I am not going to be that stupid and just stand there waiting for them to maul me to death.

Instead I chose to charge toward one of the fox. As gruesome as this is gonna sound I thrust the sword directly through his head. A damage number I was not expecting popped up.

Then I pulled it back and stabbed it in the head again. Except this time only a negative thirteen appeared. Still sliding backwards I continue to stab the head.

-32 appeared this time. It seems it does emulate reality a bit. Hitting the brain part of the head would cause double damage to it. In other words a critical hit.

There was still a swarm behind it but once I got that down killing these foxes became incomparable easy. My speed was about equal to their speed. Each hit to the head causes 30 to 37 damage and sometimes I would hit the heart too causes 50 damage.

After killing all 15 of these foxes I collected a total of 70 copper coins and 13 fox fur. I also leveled up to three in a matter of 6 minutes.

“Stat window!” I called out.

I looked at my health and mana stats and felt ecstatic. This was comparable to a level 5 Mage or knight class growth in health and mana. Feeling ecstatic I killed a couple more foxes and until I reached the required mission requirement. Once I had the 20 fox fur I ran back to that greedy hag(really want to put b*tch but decided against it).

“Well done young adventurer,” she said. “you are now an official Mage. Mhmm. I see that you are not a normal mage but a Quasi Mage. Please go to the warrior training camp to find Warrior Guide Shin for your warrior class instructions.”

I guess she is useful for something but isn’t she forgetting something?

“Beautiful Mage Guide Hua,” I said politely, “what about my mage skills?”

“Once you complete your warrior class require missions then I can teach you the skills you need.”

“Thank you,” I said as I left but I was swearing in the profound language in my head.

After a while I found the Warrior Guide Shin in a gray barrack at the edge of this beginners village. He sat at a normal looking chair. His maroon gold armor dazzling bright in this depressing barrack.

“Brave Warrior Guide Shin my name is Dark Bunny and I was told to come here by Mage Guide Hua for your instructions,” I said.

“I see you have completed the mage mission. If I assume correctly you are a Quasi mage. My mission for you is to kill 20 gray wolves at the outskirt of this village. Once you finish this mission bring me 20 gray wolf tooth as proof of completion.”

“Thank you,” I said and turned around to leave and realized that an acceptation screen of this mission did not appear. Please don’t tell this instructor is just as shameless.

“Ahem! Before you leave you must pay me 5 copper coins for the processing fee before I can start your class mission,” His stern voice echoes behind me.

Just like last time I unwillingly hand over 5 copper coins. As I was leaving I was about to leave through the door of the barrack I saw another adventurer came through the door.

“Magnificent warrior Guide Shin King James has sent me here to receive your instructions for a mission to become a warrior,” the other adventurer said.

“Young Adventure go kill 20 gray wolves at the outskirt of this village. Once you finish your mission bring me 20 gray wolf tooth as proof of completion do you accept?” Warrior Guide Shin asks.

“Yes, sir,” the adventurer said and leaves. As he left I chased after him thinking he might have not got the mission yet.

“Hey Fryton,” I yelled chasing him out of the barrack.

“Oh hey? Do I know you?” he asks.

“I doubt it but did you really get the mission?”

“Yeah.”

“Did you have to pay 5 copper coins?”

“No.”

“Why?” I asked feeling cheated.

“Oh did you read the guide that came with the game?” he asks.

“Yes,” I replied.

“Then I suggest you read it again but this time just focus on the completion of class,” he said and ran away.

Hearing that I opened the guide again and begin to read the passage from the completion of a class mission. It reads. Never mind I will just summarize for you no wait I’ll give you the line that brought me to tears.

[To be exempted from paying a fee of 5 copper coins you must drop the King’s name James in the conversation for your mission.]

How the hell did I miss that! I was piss. To calm myself down I had to lie to myself saying that 5 or 10 copper coins is but a drop in the ocean. In the future I will have millions of gold so what is a 5 or 10 copper coins. Chump change thats what it is. Still I felt kinda cheated. How many gently souls have been cheat I like this. Oh well thats got nothing to do me.

I went out to the outskirt of the village and began to kill the wolves. The good news is that were on the same level as the fox with 2 or 3 extra points in defense and attack but their speed was slow. At first looking at them was scary but then I realize this was a game and they were easy to kill. After killing 25 of them I finally obtained all 20 wolf tooth that I needed. Furthermore my level jumped to lvl 4.

Not bad I thought. With another level I can finally leave this village and wander this world. I felt excited because in the 16 years that I have lived so the furthest I have traveled is probable 100 to 150 miles away from my house. In this game I can probably wander the world and meet many new people from all over China.

I ran back to that instructor and handed him all 20 wolf tooth.

“Great job young adventure Dark Bunny,” praised Warrior Guide Shin. “Currently the guides cannot teach you anything. You must seek out the great Dual Mage. He has a very strict personality will only take the greatest of the greatest of students. In order to meet him you must go back to the Mage Guide and receive an emblem from her. Then come back here and show me that emblem. Once I see the emblem I will give you my emblem of recognition. Then take both these emblems to the dark mage Rabi. He will give you one final test. Once you past that test your true journey will begin. He lives on the outskirt of the West side of this village. Good luck my young adventurer.”

I face palmed myself thinking that this is just one big giant circle. Since there was nothing I could do I said my thanks to the instructor and ran back to the Mage Guide Hua. Since this is pretty simple I am not gonna bother writing out everything. Simple put once I got the emblem from Mage Guide Hua I ran back to Warrior Guide Shin. Once I got his approval I ran to the outskirt of this village on the West side.

There I found a run down cottage. This cottage looks poor and desolate. I guess this is where my adventures begin.
