《A Dryflame Child's Life (Rewriting)》Chapter 42-Improvement

''Well, this doesn't seem like a castle''Gin said while scratching his little head as Grim and Maira looked around. After they were sucked in,they appeared in front of this simple house. There were nothing else than the house,as everywhere was filled with black void and bright stars at the horizon. It was quite a sight to see, though they had a feeling these were not real.
''Waiting won't help us,let's go inside.''Maira said and leaded the way.She opened the door and entered, followed by Gin and Grim. After everyone entered, door closed behind them and everything turned dark, then with a bright light a huge hallway appeared in front of them.Everywhere was painted with golden yellow and paintings were hanging at the walls. Some of them showed pictures of warriors or sceneries, while some of them contained horrifying sights. It was a very eccentric scenery.
At the end of the hallway stood a big throne, nearing to 10 meter. On the huge throne stood a man with pale skin, multicolored hair and white eyes.He had 2 flame images at his arms, but they were not black like Kasimir's,they were blue.
''You didn't take that long.''Said man on the throne,Ghost King.Grim's group smiled a little, then walked in front of the Ghost King.''I said i'll give you some good fortune, but you have to earn it yourselves. Now,i will give each of you 2 hours to show me your highest level magic.''Gin looked a bit sad,as magics at his disposal were not powerful.Grim looked a bit confused, only Maira's eyes shined with expectation.
Ghost King waved his hand and 3 box, size of a house appeared in front of them.''Don't lose much more time, you only have 10 hours left before dimension opens after all.''Grim and others thanked then entered their respective boxes. After they entered,Ghost King started to inspect what the trio was doing, his interest piqued.
...
''Let's open the gates.''Said Avenger, who was looking very terrible right now.Madam and Illya had their own thoughts, but didn't ask what happened nor tried to bother themselves with it.Their ignoring attitude made Avenger much more frustrated, but he couldn't say anything to both of them.
They took out the 4 keys again and sent them towards the leaf, which fused with keys. With a rumbling sound, same gate appeared and people started to get out. After confirming everyone was out, gate was closed.Trials started with 22 people, but only 15 were left.It was clear dangers were quite big.Though the Madam and other two didn't care. They also knew about the situation in there, but didn't warn competitors. If they always knew what was ahead of them, then what would be the point of tempering?
Still,Avenger felt quite terrible again when he saw numbers. There were 12 white dragons first entered, followed by 8 mist dragons and Grim with Maira. But after everyone got out, only 7 white dragons were left while Mist dragons were only 5.It was a big loss for White Dragons.
But it was their own fault, not others. Most White Dragons were used to acting cocky because of their sudden rise, especially with monsters like Kaiser and Cai.So,they very much underestimated the dimension. And the most embrassing thing was, this was a dimension belonging White Dragons,a place they had the most knowledge.
''Next trial will be a month after this, neccessary knowledge will be shortly before it starts so you can disperse.''Madam Deathcarrier said, not giving any heed to the losses of other families then left wtih Grim and Maira.Gin directly went to the Cai and Fei's side excitedly, giving a vibrant aura.Fei thought that her brother looked like he changed a little,so she was curious. But this was Gin's showing off time,so they only followed along.

...
''So,how was the trial?''Madam Deathcarrier said.Even though trials were brutal, and competition was harsh she wouldn't act that cold to White Dragons normally. But Kaiser has passed her patience limit, hurting her daughter. But it was a relief to see that they came out with no fatal danger. She wanted to increase the pressure on White Dragons, but looks like they got the ire of Sovereign,so there were nothing she could do anymore.
Grim looked a bit down while Maira smiled widely, her purple eyes shining. It was a well deserved smile,as she surpassed both Grim and Gin,taking 2 Ancient Book about Magic. Not only she managed to use a Gravity type spell,it was also at Lord level. She even used her inner mana pool at creating it,so Ghost King's evaluation of her was very big.
Grim was feeling regret because of not thinking it,but everything was late.He managed to touch the boundary of Grand level at Creation, but that was it.He also used minor lightning enchantment to increase the overall quality, but that was it.Rather than taking Ghost Kings reward,he requested large amounts of mana crystal and strange metals for runesmithing.Ghost King was a bit angry at him not accepting his personal gift, but still gave what Grim wanted.
Lastly,Gin.He actually very suprised everyone, including Ghost King, because he used a magic from Devil's pearl path.Actually,it was like a replica of Parasyte Mist spell, but he created a variation of it on his own with no knowledge of the former spell,so this was a very big accomplishment.Even so,it was at the bottom of Middle level,so he only got 2 compatible daggers, which's quality were at 2nd rank armament.
Other than that, they listened some advices of Ghost King and found some ways to improve theri shortcomings,so this could be considered as a very benefical travel. After talking about some things, they arrived to Black Dragon Castle. After entering, they both told about their experience and Maira showed the 2 books, astonishing Madam Deathcarrier.
''You are super lucky, little girl. One of them is a space based spell,it's name is Dimension Breaker.I'll translate some contents, but you have to derive what means by yourself. It is much more better this way.Other one is in our language so you can directly study it.It's a simple spell,Supression Ground. It's a gravity based spell, you can create an area around you to increase multiple folds.''
Or so what Madam said. After talking a bit more in detail about spells, she sent them back to their rooms to rest. After entering,Grim directly threw himself at the bed then fell asleep.
...
''Alright, alright. Here, take it.''Arihan said lazily then sent a ball of light, which fused with Grim's soul.''Thanks!''Grim said excitedly then disappeared from eternal darkness, leaving Arihan alone.''To think he could create Dryflame at this age.Anyway,he can't use it in fights anyway.Ramla!''
''What is it Arihan, will you brag about Grim again?''A buzzy voice replied Arihan, slightly laughing.
''Hmph,Of course not.He is still very naive,it would only increase his ego.Have you found out?''Arihan said
''You mean little boy Kasimir? He became quite strong,i suppose. He is the last Rainbow Phantom in Chaos World,so i don't know what to think.Shall we send him back to Endless Oblivion to gather his kind?''Arihan looked a bit conflicted about what to do.Then just sighed.

''Contact him.If he wants to,then it's okay.If it's not then let him be.We are not responsible for his fate.''Ramla replied with a okay then cut the connection. As for Arihan, directly forgetting Kasimir's matter,he lied down and continued to his slumber.
...
Opening his eyes,Grim directly stood up.After resting for a day,he wanted to start learning Runesmithing as fast as he can.He was sure it would bring many benefits to his Creation Magic.Without even washing his face he directly sent his sense into his image, looking at the 5th ball.
He sent a wisp of mana, then started reading through the knowledge. But after half an hour, his face was terrible. He was greatly disappointed, not because Runesmithing wasn't useful or it was way too expensive.Reason was,it would take very long times to master.Even the lowest grade things would last several hours, let alone high grade weapons or armaments. His only consolation was, knowledge alone gave him some new ideas about Creation Magic.
After complaining about why his dreams never comes true,Grim retracted his sense and turned back to reality. He started to think about what to do.There were still 12 trials left. Each month,he would enter another.First 4 trails were belonging to White dragons.Other 4 belonged to Mist dragons while last 4 was for Black Dragons.13th trial was a Dimension supervised by Dragon Sovereign herself,so it was the greatest of them all.
With each trial, difficulty would increase.Or so was he thought. But this trial alone was very dangerous, though it was a thing at the side of Family Heads.Even thoguh he didn't fear death,as he couldn't die anyway,it wasn't a pleasent thing to lose arms or legs.He also had the matter of Chaotic Physique. He didn't want to lose control each time he used it.And he didn't even have a clue about it's reason. He only knew it may be because of his Dryflame bloodline. So,he directly asked Arihan.
Result? Not bad.As Gods' era was a brutal and 'Chaotic' one, everyone had to fight no matter where they were or what time it was. So,Chaotic Physique created some sort of effect to increase a person's battle spirit.Though it felt very good and he enjoyed when clashing with that captain, that was very dangerous.Arihan said that it could be resolved by training with another way.
He had to expend his whole energy many times, till his body became numb to that sensation. But to expend his whole energy,he had to fight or train with someone equal. And no one in here was his equal. They were way above him.Even Maira, her spells were deadly to him. It's best example was Captain, who was a bit above of Grim when it came to Fleshly power. He was easily crushed by that spell, without showing any resistance.
Even thoguh it expended a lot of mana and took some time,Maira could use other types of spells to slow him down or directly use another Destruction class spell to 'kill' him.Or simply, she could keep him interrupted till his energy was drained. And he didn't want to be the beating bag of her,so he simply threw this idea out of his head.
''Wait! If i were to train in Chaotic Physique while using it?Will it work?''He thought suddenly. The more he thought about it,the more feasible it became. Not only he would improve with his physique,he could also get rid of the effects faster. Then he tried it.Each time blood flow restarted,a small mist would appear which was directed towards his hear and infused with it.Pain was managing to slow his movements down, but that was it.Grim took out his iron sword and started to make several different slashes and cuts.
Each cut created currents of air and small vibrations could be seen on the door of his room.Madam Deathcarrier looked up from main hall, her gaze locked at Grim's figure.''Strange,i never saw a technique like that before.''Then paid no more heed. She thought it was a special technique from Dryflames,as she could see Grim using his own bloodline's power.
Like this, days passed and Grim completed other 3 trials belonging to White Dragons with Maira and Gin.They had many encounters and even fought with 2 groups of white dragons at the same time for a piece of divine metal. They managed to get a hold of it and crushed the other 2 party, leaving the dimension victorious.
All three of them improved rapidly.Gin also recovered his inner mana thanks to the help of Madam Deathcarrier,so there were no slowing down at his image. He also got used to his 2 daggers, cutting through everything with a swift speed. He started learning Illusion magic from Fei to improve his efficency while always sparred with Cai,taking pointers from him.
Maira learned the initial stages of Dimension Breaker, but she couldn't use it without Gin's help.As for Supression Ground, she managed to master it.It was a huge help at group fights, the most obvious example was the fight with 2 groups of White Dragons. When she used the Supression Ground,Gin swiftly traveled among them and attacked without them giving any reaction,Making a chaotic battlefield.
But the one most improved was Grim. Not only he reached Grand level at his Creation Magic in 4 months,he was also getting more closer to the Upper Tier Giant level at Chaotic Physique. But it would still take at least a year to reach it.Even so,he managed to supress the effect of Physique,so he was much more dangerous than ever.He was sure that he could advance to the 6th rank in 1 or 2 months.
With trio's rapid improvement, they started to rise in ranks. They were always at 3rd place, directly behind a Mist Dragon Group.Of course,at the 1st place was Kaiser, unreachable. There were always slight differences in the achievemnts of Grim's group and Mist Dragons' group. But Kaiser was at another level. He would always double or sometimes triple the point 2nd place had.So both of the groups gave up on competing with him.
Finally,it was time to enter 5th dimension,a dimension belonging to Mist Dragons.

Twice Lived
Previously called Standard Reincarnation Story In a fraction of a moment, the Earth was no more. The planet was destroyed, and billions and billions of people were dead. And it was all an accident. This is the story of Elm. A regular American born once on earth and given a chance to be reborn again on a planet with magic and monsters and dungeons. Except that for Elm, this is far from the idealistic reincarnation into a loving family -- the standard story of a child raised by loving parents who teach him the ways of the world, Instead, Elm is born into a family of inquisitors. An order of nobility that is dedicated to hunting down and killing "Twice-Lived" -- the name society has for people like Elm who are reincarnated with all their memories of their past life intact. Disclaimer This story is: 1) Extremely violent and graphic. 2) Still in a rough draft stage. I see what I am writing more like a synopsis than a fully fledged story. I periodically will go back to flesh out earlier chapters, build characters, etc... If you find the words "Show don't tell," comforting accept that unfortunately, I'm not at that stage of the writing process yet. 3) At one point this story was called "Standard Reincarnation Story," and I had written an extremely off-putting description of the story. This was mostly to keep out people who would just read the silly first few chapters then rage quit as soon as the violent stuff got started. Since I just had my first .5 star rating (without a page read count increase) that technique is not working, so I might as well treat this as a regular fiction and try to get regular readers.

A-Live AI
The year is 2247. For almost two hundred years Sentient AI research has been banned. Everyone knew this, and yet no one has ever given up on finding the perfect setup for it. Restricted AI are rare, but possible to get ahold of if you have the money and the clout to get through the law for it. Especially when it deals with the military. Alfred Homis is an engineer and has spent the last three years working for the United Terran Military's Research and Exploration Department. Specifically to help build a 'shackled' AI who's prime directive was to explore potentially habitable worlds. Worlds that are far cheaper to colonize and add to the United Terran Directorate's fold than terraforming. During the AI's maiden voyage things go horribly wrong, taking Alfred Homis along for the ride. Thrown into a parallel universe where the laws of physics are just a little messed up, Alfred finds himself trapped inside the very machine he'd helped to build. Add magic, hostile fantasy creatures, and two different pantheons of 'Gods' to the mix and things get even more complicated. Oh, and an invasion between universes to boot. But that's just all in a days work though for Alfred, the AI Lord. Authors Note: Hi guys! Long time no see. And yes, I know that's all on me. But I blame life for that. Anyway, this is my new work, and I hope you guys enjoy it! The chapters are a little shorter than I'd previously posted in my other stories, but I cannot say that I have the same amount of time or energy to write them like that anymore. Sorry about that. Still, some warnings: There is cursing in this story. I am not going to edit it out. There will be sexual content later. Blood, gore and cruel depictions are all planned. If that isn't your thing, I'd suggest you turn back now. There is also my dry, and often not-so-funny sense of humor. And oh, it's all in first person gain. Haha. I just tend to write better that way. If none of that bothers you, then enjoy the read! Feel free to comment, point out mistakes, or make suggestions! Reviews are nice too, but please lay off the criticism until the story gets good and going. Thank you. Note 1: Some edits to the synopsis.
