《The Strongest Hero VS The Weakest World?》Chapter 5 - Alchemy

From this past week, I have gotten somewhat used to life here in the divine realm. My lessons with Akria are going swimmingly. I have mastered the Ancient Tones. With this, I stopped speaking Japanese and started only speaking in Ancient Tones. My instructors do the same.
After learning Ancient Tones, Akria started teaching me mathematics and science. Since I lived on Earth and was a programmer, I already knew a lot about these subjects, mostly mathematics; however, she told me that I had to master both of these subjects. Also, I was confused why science was being taught since the Light Novels I have read had worlds where science was far behind.
I asked Akria about this, and she told me that every world is at a different stage of science and magic. Some worlds are more science-advanced but not in magic, like Earth, while other worlds are more advanced in magic but not science. Of course, some worlds are both behind and ahead in these.
My lessons with Kevin have also been going fine. On my third day here, I was able to get my Status skill up to level five. The goal was level three, but I somehow got two levels higher. At three, one can view most of their status, like health and mana. At level five, they can view even more stuff like their equipment and the bonuses they give. Speaking of which, here's is current status using my level five skill.
Name: Wakaki Yemon
Race: Human
Age: 36
Level: 1
Class:
Sub-class:
Health: 60 / 60
Mana: 0 / 0
Mana Regen: 0 per hour
Strength: 16
Resistance: 30
Protection: 10
Endurance: 34
Speed: 10
Agility: 22
Equipement:
Skills:
> Ancient Tones (Level 10)
> Learner (Level 6)
> Lifestyle (Level 6)
> Intelligence (Level 2)
> Status (Level 5)
> Hardworking (Level 5)
> Mental Resistence (Level 3)
> Nobility (Level 3)
> Muscles Regeneration (Level 3)
Titles:
> Hero [Changes level's cap]
One main difference in this new status is that it's tidier. Also, I can now see the levels that my skills are.
Anyway, after getting this far, Kevin told me to continue opening and closing my status to level it up all the way to max. Afterward, he went and taught me about different worlds and types of heroes.
To summarize his teachings, heroes trained by the Gods have different missions based on the world. Some worlds need a hero to fight off a demon lord, while others need a hero to become King and govern the kingdom. Some need a hero to fight off the monsters or fight an evil god, while others need a hero only for farming. There are many scenarios or missions that heroes might need to accomplish when they get to the other world.
My lessons with Allie have been okay... I continue to get yelled at by her at the start. Well, all except today and yesterday. I have finally created a greeting that suits her. That said, she found new ways to yell at me. Once I mastered Ancient Tones, she began teaching proper Noble stances and etiquette. Each time I fail or do something un-noble-like, she gives me an earful at her max volume.
My lessons with Ryuma continue to be harsh and tiresome. Each day, I'm forced to do only situps. The reason being is to lessen the time it takes me. So far, I can do situps on an average level (31 per minute). Sadly, I'm not at the level that he wants me at (300 or 1,000 situps a minute).

In my magic lessons, I have read 1/100th of the books located inside the classroom. At this rate, I'll be able to read all of them within 23 months.
With the 1/100th books, I have learned something valuable - I'm unable to use magic! I first suspected something when I noticed my mana was zero out of zero when I checked my status with Kevin. To be sure, I tried meditating for an hour, but when I checked my status, I found no change in my mana or mana-regen. On my breaks, I would spend some time meditating, but there was still no change in my status.
I continued reading the books even though I'm unable to use magic. I'm currently in my magic class, reading a book about Alchemy...
"Unique abilities, like God's Eyes or Mana Eyes, can only be obtained at birth with a meager chance of happening. Through the use of Alchemy, one should be able to make artificial abilities, like God's Eyes or Mana Eyes. One should also be able to enchant their body with mana, which should give the user rich mana supply and regen abilities."
The current book I'm on is about Alchemy. Typically, Alchemy is used to transmute objects or to imbue items with mana. That said, this book also contains information about the other things alchemy is used for. The main thing I noticed is creating artificial abilities.
If I obtain these, will I be able to gain mana? Even if it's only one, with training, I should be able to raise it highly... Well, I don't know how to use any alchemy, let alone that advanced practice. Maybe there's a God of Alchemy somewhere around here...
I close the book, put it back on the bookshelf along with the other books I pulled, and left the room, heading downstairs. Once on the bottom floor, I start exploring the house in search of one of my maids. After exploring for five minutes, I finally find them doing my laundry. I walk up to Erina.
"Hey, I have a favor to ask. Can you see if the God of Alchemy exists? If they do, can you see if you could schedule an appointment with him when I would have my magic lessons?"
"Hmm? Sure thing!" (Erina)
Erina smiles as she agrees to my favor. I thanked her and left towards my bedroom, where I fall asleep within the other world. My new plan is to continue training with the other instructors. During my magic training, I'm planning to train with the God of Alchemy in hopes of gaining the ability to use magic. That said, I don't know how possible it is, so all I can do is to pray...
It is now the next day. I'm currently on my 2nd break (The one after my physical training) eating lunch. As I do, Erina comes up to me with a smile.
"Master, I have confirmed the existence of the God of Alchemy and have scheduled your appointment with him. After you finish eating, you should head his way. I'll provide a map to his location."
"This quickly?! Thanks a lot! Man, you work fast, don't you?"
"This is our job, after all."
I give a smile to Erina as she hands me a map. I quickly finish my food, change clothes, and left the house while following the directions on the map. After walking for twelve minutes, I reach my destination - A rusty and large mansion. I walk up to the door and give it a buzz.

I wait.
"..."
I continue to wait.
"..."
I give the door another buzz and wait. The same thing occurred, so I repeat the same process. After about ten buzzes, the door finally opens, revealing a shabby man with long white hair and facial hair. He's wearing a white robe and has light blue eyes. He looks at me, irritated. Nevertheless, I smile while giving my greeting.
"Sorry for the interrupting, but my name is Yemon. It's a pleasure to meet you. Are you perhaps the God of Alchemy?"
"Yes..."
He gives me a rough answer. I can tell his displeasure just from his voice alone...
"Alright, I arranged an appointment with you for around this time. There's something that I want to make, but it requires the teaching of Alchemy. Would you be so kind as to teach me?"
After finishing my sentence, I notice that his expression switches from annoyance to anger.
"Ha, and for what reasons are they?! You're just an irregular hero who just so happens to be given a chance to stay in this realm for bla bla years. I bet you want to satisfy your curiosity and greed to turn things into gold. Just for your information, that is not what true alchemy is about! Leave! Those who don't understand the true value of alchemy have no reason to learn from it, less think of it! Now, begone from my mansion."
He glares at me as he begins to close the door, but I move my leg in front of it to stop it while quickly giving my counterargument.
"You're wrong, sir! I don't care nor want to change things into gold. That's meaningless! What I would like to know is how to create artificial abilities and to imbue my body with mana through the teachings of Alchemy!"
As I say this, the God attitude takes a 180. Instead of being angry or annoyed, he looks at me with curiosity and amazement. Then, he starts laughing.
"Haha! I'm sorry, lad. I judge you wrongly. You see, I have met others from your planet or similar ones and all of them wanted something to do with turning things into gold. Please forgive me for that! Anyhow, I would be happy to teach you Alchemy for that purpose; however, there is a slight problem. I'll explain in a moment. For now, please come in."
He opens the door and motions me to come in. I bow and enter his abode. As I walk inside, I notice paper and books scattered everywhere inside the house.
"Sorry for the mess. Oh, and my name is Tetsu. As I said before, there is a slight problem. To use any Alchemy, you need to have mana within you. Therefore, you are currently unable to perform anything. That said, there are ways around this, but for you, getting mana within you as fast as possible will be ideal."
"I thought so... Wait, are you telling me that there are ways to obtain mana?!"
"Yes. First, the reason why you don't have any mana is because of your old world. You see, mana comes from what is known as a source. Sources are constructed differently depending on what world you are born in. For earth, sources are mainly constructed to hand vast information and better independent thinking and problem-solving. This is one reason why science is highly developed in that world."
"Now, to be able to gain access to mana, you are going to need a new source. With alchemy, such a thing is possible; however, to do so, you will need a high level of alchemy. To be more precise, you are going to be at level 13."
"Huh, level 13? I thought the cap was level 10?"
"Hmm? You haven't learned about that yet? Well, I guess it is too early for you. I'll explain. Typically, skills go from level 1 to 10, as you know, but this is only for beings who are not Gods. Us Gods can ascend in level all the way to 20. We call any above 10 God's leveling. We use our time here trying to get our specialized skills to level 20. Most of us are only at 15 and below. Only one God was able to get their skill at level 20... That person is known as the True God."
"Anyway, for you to be able to ascend higher than ten is to get a God's blessing. With one, you'll get a portion of their power, allowing you to increase your skills' level cap. You'll also get a bonus too. For my blessing, your alchemy productive will improve, and leveling up will be slightly easier. You'll also be able to raise all skills that are related to alchemy to level 20. Now then, to give you my blessing, you first need to get your main skill, alchemy, to level 10. Therefore, let's begin!"
"Yes! Oh, wait. Didn't you say I need mana to use alchemy? How will I be able to level it up then?"
"Ah, good question. The answer's simple. To use someone or something's mana. Like this magical tool that I created."
Tetsu lifts his hands and shows me the gloves that he has on.
"These gloves allow me to transmute and imbue objects with mana easily. It has magical crystals inside, which give the glove power. In a sense, it uses the crystal's mana instead of mine. By the way, you should still be able to level up the alchemy skills. Here, I have a second pair that you can use."
He hands me a pair of gloves that look almost identical to his. I graciously take them while giving my thanks. Afterward, he begins teaching me about alchemy that is way more in-depth than the information inside the books in the classroom had.
We spend hours talking and practicing alchemy until it was time for my lesson with Akria to begin. I spoke with Tetsu and informed him that I have to leave, but he said that I would return later today at the same time if that's okay. He gives me the okay and tells me that I should come every day, which replaces my magic lessons with alchemy lessons. I agree and headed out.
...
Days go by as I continue this cycle. At this mark, three months have passed by. Although I have gained some strength with my physical training and have gained more knowledge from my first three instructors, my alchemy sessions have improved the most.
