A banana cream pie and a rhubarb custard pie rolled into his foreground. Pies in front of him, pies behind him. There was nowhere to run. The chomp tensed and crouched slightly in an action hero pose, though deep down inside he wondered if that would actually be of any help in this situation. He tried to think of an actionable plan.
He could chomp on the pies, but he had only one chomper. The pies were trying to attack from every direction. There were many. He was one. What in the Great Pug's name could he do?
"Poot!" He screamed.
"Where are you?" There was no response. The chomp was not surprised. Right from the start, Poot had revealed himself to be driven by selfish motives. There was no benefit in helping out the chomp right now.
The pies in front of him began to levitate a few feet from the ground. A quick over-the-shoulder glance revealed that the apple pie and the key lime pie were doing the same. Clearly, they were getting ready to smash into him - all four pie faces faced in his direction.
The chomp had an epiphany. Of course...
He lowered his arms, stood up straight, and closed his eyes, appearing to completely let down his guard. He would have to time it just right.
The pies were overjoyed, of course. The banana cream pie couldn't contain the banana slices garnished on its face. A few slices popped from its surface and flew towards the chomp, landing on a jiggle and sliding down to the ground. The chomp ignored this, and waited.
The pies couldn't resist any longer. They converged at his location with the rapidity of a cartoon flinging a pie in someone's face.
The chomp remained still.
He waited, eyes closed.
