《New Escape》New Escape Chapter Twenty Seven

Continuing rather quickly we make our way further up the tower. There are rather large discrepencies on the size of this tower compared to how little we have to walk, most likely there is some extremely powerful space bending enchantment on the tower. We near the fourth door and excitement comes once again. I push open the door and extremely excited by what I find. While it may not be treasure it is quite valuable to me specifically. The room seems to be the actual workshop. I look around briefly before I realize Maddy has already begun going upstairs.
"Aaah Maddy wait up please!" I quickly chase after here after closing the workshop's door, 'I wonder what kind of stuff is in there I hardly got to look.'
Running up to the fifth, and last door on the staircase Maddy throws it open in hopes that treasure will be sprawled everywhere.
"Where's the treasure?" Maddy walks in and immediately finds that there is not a single bit of treasure, but instead there is a giant glowing orb in the center of the circular room with some sort of base underneath it, the orb hovers lightly over the base which seems to have a couple stairs to more easily get onto it.
"Ah! Is this perhaps a portal?" I immediately become ecstatic because portals are not easy to come by, especially if this happens to be a limitless portal that could teleport us to any location, or at least any known location.
"A portal? You mean we can teleport around with this?" Maddy's complexion quickly changes as she realizes the true power of the floating orb.
"Excuse me! Floor guardian!" I call out to the air hoping that there will be a floor guardian for the portal room as well.

Answering my call a purple ball of energy appears in the middle of the room, expelling a fire like energy around it we all back up a step. A human like face appears on the orb and it looks us over.
"I have come at your call, Magia Corvus. My name is Erz, what information do you seek?" The Erz moves their focus towards me as their voice sounds out clearly through the room.
"Ah yes, i would like information on this portal first off, is this portal unrestricted like I believe it to be?" I first ask the question to understand the strength of the massive color shifting orb in front of me that appears not all that different to the smaller purple orb named Erz.
"You are in fact correct, this portal will allow you to travel to any place you have previously visited by choice or will randomly teleport you to an unknown location should you choose. This draw back is due to the lack of maintenance on the tower these past few hundred years."
"I see, so if we were to choose a random location it would most likely send us to a very inhospitable area?" I continuing probing Erz' mind in order to figure the safety of this portal.
"That is not incorrect, yet it is also lacking. While it will 'randomly' teleport you it does have a sort of understanding and will generally not teleport you to an area in which you cannot survive." Erz' words put my mind at ease that we could end up in the middle of a volcano or near extremely powerful monsters.
"I see, what about the treasure?" Maddy is seriously impatient about this treasure.
"Yes, the armory cannot currently be accessed as there is no Tower Master, I will add you as the Tower Masters as you are the only ones who have entered for some time. As tower masters you have control over the whole tower. Adding and removing rooms, changing their locations, improving and using the facilities already provided. As Tower Master you can govern Heaven's Workshop in any way that you see fit. While Tower Masters originally needed to be judged that is no longer necessary as you are here with Esmir, guardian of the gate."

"Cool cool, can you add the treasury right now?"
"To manage the tower you must open the 'Tower Management' menu."
"Tower Management." I quickly open up the menu to see what we can do.

"Add new floor, armory. Add new floor, treasury. Add new floor, enchantment workshop. Move gateway directory to floor 6. Move enchantment workshop to floor 5." I call out the three rooms I wish to be added and that may be recognized as rooms that previously existed here, and move them to my liking.
After a few seconds I feel slightly light for just a moment until I feel grounded again.

"Okay time to go look at the treasure." I lead Maddy towards the door and wave goodbye to Erz.
Walking up to the next level we enter a door labeled "armory".
"This is the first treasure like room, let's see what is in here." Maddy jumps in front of me to open the door. We enter the the large circular room with a number of hallways linked to it.
"Excuse me floor guardian, what treasure do you have in here?" the best way to find things in here is to contact the floor guardian.
Rather than having a form this floor guardian seems to be more of a disembodied voice.
"Welcome Tower Masters, my name is Orz. I do hope you find everything to your liking here. While I wish this were untrue a large quantity of our items were taken and never returned by the previous Tower Masters. I will reveal to you the names of the items and may display them to you at your request."

Items:
Blood Sabre
Soul-eating dagger twins
Heaven's Respite
Sigil of the Crestfallen
Norad's Queen Crystal
Gauntlets of the ice god
The Windcaller's flute
"Ooooo I would really like the daggers." Maddy declares her choice and the Orz summons the twin daggers to levitate in front of her.
The two daggers appear a tad unremarkable for being an ancient treasure stored inside Heaven's Workshop, or so I think until I get a closer look at them. Embedded into each hilt was a blood red crystal which shined beautifully in the light. Each blade was pure black from the blade to the hilt, the metal seemed to shine dully under the light and could hardly draw attention away from the crystal. Grasping onto the two daggers the whole group is startled by what happens next.
"Hello, thank you for choosing us Raven." The two daggers seem to resonate with each other and a pair of voices sound out. "We are the spirits of the daggers, Wes and Lin. We are known as the twin siblings, brother and sister respectively."

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Ghost Girl, Ghost Girl. She Gonna Take Your Soul!
Ghost Girl had no name or she didn’t want to use it, for she… is dead. Ghosts like her appeared due to lingering attachments to the physical world or unfinished business. I thought this image was a great fit as a cover.

Cry of the Mer Extras
A collection of Cry of the Mer shorts and extras. This will mostly be a series of scenes from Luna's point of view. Things from her past and scenes that have already happened, but from the different perspectives. It may also include the same for other characters such as a look into the pasts of Katie and Riley as well. Basically all the world building stuff there isnt time for in the main plot. This is mostly what I'll be writing on my phone on my breaks at work to keep readers having some content as I cannot work on Heart of a Mer while there. Most of you know the situation already, so this is my compromise for less main content. I do take requests if there's something specific you want to see.
