Arc 43 - Promise

Somewhere in the Middle East:

Nazar had dropped on his knees and Emma was holding him in her arms. Nazar was crying over the death of his close friend, Emily.

While he was crying, he was thrown away for a few meters. It was done by Nazar from Universe-11.

Nazar from Universe-11 showed up. He looks and sounds exactly like Nazar, but there are a lot of differences between these two.

“What the hell have you done, you bastard?”

That was the first thing the Nazar from another universe has said, right after throwing Nazar away with a kick to his sides.

He then later introduced himself to Nazar, Emma and Aria.

Instead of wasting any more time explaining anything, he just went and kicked Nazar again.

“Just what have you done?”

Universe-11 Nazar shouted again.

However, there was no response from Nazar.

“I came to this reality looking for someone and what do I see?” Universe-11 Nazar said as he pointed around. “Death and destruction.”

He then rocketed towards Nazar who was still getting up and punched him in the face.

This led to Nazar falling to the ground again.

“I looked around and could not see where you were. You were too fast, but then I saw something on the moon. Something I never had in my reality. A base on the moon.”

As Universe-11 Nazar was spat these words, Nazar’s eyes were closing and opening. He is still strong enough to lift a car above his head, but he does not have the will to stand up now.

“I went to your base and saw a pretty cool AI.” Universe-11 Nazar continued to talk. He started walking towards Nazar who was lying down in the desert of blood just a few meters away.

“The AI thought we were the same but when I asked it questions, it refused to answer. And I am pretty sure you already got notified about it.”

Universe-11 Nazar reached Universe Prime Nazar and lift him up by his throat.

“I followed the death and destruction and found you here crying. Your mental defences were down, so I entered your mind and learned everything I could about you.”

Universe-11 Nazar then squeezed Nazar’s throat.

“I found out what kind of pathetic being you are.”

He then tossed Nazar across with more force than before. Nazar was thrown away 10 meters into the air but mysteriously dropped just a few meters away.

“I placed a barrier around us. Small enough so Emma can hear what I have to say about you and what you have done to all of them.”

Both Emma and Aria were inside the barrier and they were confused. They had no idea what was going on but decided to just listen carefully.

“Answer me one thing, why did you kill everyone here?”

Nazar listened carefully. He could easily overpower the other Nazar, but he does not have the will to do anything.

Nazar forced himself to slowly stand up.

“They--”

Before he could finish, Universe-11 Nazar moved at subsonic speed and punched Nazar in the face, then in the stomach and then kicked him.

“They killed Emily? That is your excuse?”

Emma wanted to interfere, but Aria stopped her.

“Every single person goes through tragedy. The loss of a mother, father, sister, brother, friend, lover, and more. It is common in life. Do they go around killing everyone?”

Universe-11 Nazar then increased his speed beyond the speed of sound and starting punching Nazar.

“Do you understand what you are doing?”

He stopped punching Nazar and then picked him by his collar. He then slammed him against the invisible barrier.

“Answer me, do you know what you are doing?”

Before the Universe-11 Nazar could react, he found himself being held by the throat. Nazar was holding him.

“You think I don’t know what I am doing?” Nazar shouted in anger. “Do you have any idea what it's like to cause the death of someone close to you by yourself?”

Nazar let go of the other one and they were both standing opposite one another.

“So, we are using a more peaceful method now?” Universe-11 Nazar muttered under his breath.

He then raised his voice so he can be heard by others.

“I have killed in the past too. I am responsible for those closest to me dying. Hell, I am even responsible for the death of Earth in my universe. But does that really mean that I am going to go around the universe killing everyone in my path? No.”

As Universe-11 Nazar spoke, Nazar started to listen again.

Emma and Aria were surprised about what they heard.

“In my universe, I lost everyone I knew because of a mistake I made. I lost Emma, Emily, my parents, and everyone else. I could only save a handful of them.” Universe-11 Nazar paused. “I learned to live with it.”

Nazar clicked his tongue.

“You see, me and you, we are alike and different in many ways.”

Nazar looked up as Universe-11 Nazar said that.

“The first 5 years of ours, it was quite similar. In that time, you abandoned your emotions, while I lived it with. So, when I was out in the bigger world, after a while I accepted those around me and they accepted me back.”

“When I was inside your head, I saw everything. The things you did because you had no control and the things you did when you were in control.” Universe-11 Nazar added.

Nazar turned around in annoyance.

Universe-11 Nazar placed his right hand on Nazar’s shoulder, which stopped him from moving.

“You are still a child with the power of a god. You are still a child who doesn't understand life. You are still a child who does not understand his own feelings. You are a child who is still stuck at that experiment and looking for a saviour.”

Nazar moved his shoulder a little and Universe-11 Nazar’s hand was no longer on his shoulder.

“I--”

Universe-11 Nazar punched Nazar again.

“I was not done talking.” Universe-11 Nazar paused for a little while. “You were looking for a saviour, but when you met that saviour, you pushed them away.”

Nazar was lying on the ground and his eyes widened a little.

“You met many saviours in your life, but you pushed them away before they could help you.” Universe-11 Nazar eyes narrowed a little. “But Emily… she was the one saviour you did not push away.”

As Nazar heard that, he clenched his fist.

“You helped her when you first met. She had fallen over and you helped her get up. But… when it was her turn to help, she reached her hand and you did not get up. Instead of getting up, you dragged her to the ground with you.”

Nazar started getting up again.

“She just wanted to repay her debt of what you had done for her, but instead you ruined her life without even thinking about it.” Universe-11 Nazar paused. “Do you know what your existence did to Emily and Emma?”

Nazar was standing up now.

“...??”

“Of course, you don’t.” Universe-11 Nazar chuckled. “Just you being here, pushed both of them into a world they did not want to be in. Loneliness.”

Nazar relaxed his fingers. His fist became undone.

“What…?”

“Last year, when you went and killed many people, some of her friends found out you were related to her, so she lost of all of her friends. People stayed away from her.”

Nazar then turned his gaze towards Emma, who was standing a few meters away to his right.

“The same thing happened to Emily. Just because she was your friend, she was thrown into a world of loneliness too.” Universe-11 Nazar paused. “You might have loved that lonely world, but they did not. You might have chosen that world, but they did not.”

Nazar then lowered his gaze.

“Oh wait, you did not like that place, did you?”

Nazar’s eyes widened.

“You always wanted to someone to come and take you out of this darkness, that is loneliness, but when the time came, you did not react and dragged others down, too.”

“Shut up,” Nazar said in a low voice that could barely be heard.

“You are the most selfish person ever. You think you are the only one that matters. You think you are at the centre of everything. You want people to think that you care about them, but at the end of the day, all you are doing is acting.”

“SHUT UP!” Nazar shouted as he swung his fist.

However, Universe-11 Nazar dodged his attack without any problem.

“SHUT UP!”

He threw another punch into his opponent, but instead it was dodged again.

Universe-11 Nazar stopped dodging for one second and kicked Nazar in the stomach, which threw him away.

“Let me tell you something. Our real parents never showed both of us any affection. The most they told me and you were ‘I love you, Nazar… you make a perfect lab rat’ and a slap to the face.” Universe-11 Nazar paused. “After that day, you abandoned a thing known as emotions. You started hating everyone.”

“When you were taken out of the experiment, you did not understand what to do. You did not want to get attached to people because they might betray you like everyone else. You did not want them to get attached to you because you knew one day you will leave them behind and never return.” Universe-11 Nazar added.

Unirverse-11 Nazar then paused talking for a little while and looked around.

“You know why I started punching and kicking you? You know why I started shouting at you?”

Nazar did not reply. He was standing up once more and he was just looking directly at the person in front of him.

“It is because you are in too much emotional and mental pain to understand what I am saying. So, I added a little physical pain just to get your full attention.”

Universe-11 Nazar got ready to move again and punch Nazar once again, but he stopped. He heard someone’s voice.

“STOP!”

It was Emma who shouted.

“Just stop it already.” She said with a trembling voice.

Universe-11 Nazar turned his gaze towards Emma and then looked at Nazar in anger. He knew what has happened to her because of Nazar, but right now he noticed how bad it was.

“What have you done to her?” He said in an angry tone. “In my universe, she was always a happy person. I barely ever saw her crying. She… she was everything opposite she is now. Those eyes have been turned red.”

Universe-11 Nazar shot towards Nazar at even higher speed.

“Just what have you done to everyone?”

Nazar saw him coming, but he did not try to dodge or counter his attacks. He just stood there.

Universe-11 Nazar full range of his abilities to attack Nazar. Punches, kicks, energy attacks, telepathic attacks, and anything else he had access to.

“Just what have you done to everyone?”

He held Nazar’s head in both of his hands.

“What have done to mom and dad… or as you would refer to them as Mary and John?”

Universe-11 Nazar then took Nazar’s head and slammed it on his knee.

“STOP!” Emma shouted again as she moved closer towards them. “JUST STOP!”

Universe-11 Nazar stopped as soon as he heard that. Nazar’s body was thrown back to the ground.

“Why are you protecting him?”

“Because no matter what he has done, he is my brother and he is in more pain than most of us could understand.”

Emma rushed over and held Nazar tightly while he was still lying on the ground.

“I… I have lived for millions of years and I was happy to finally see you... but not like this. Not all this… broken and sad.” Universe-11 Nazar as he slowly walked backwards.

Everyone else seemed surprised when they heard that.

Universe-11 Nazar has lived for millions of years. Meaning that he has lost his friends and family a long time ago, but he remembers them perfectly.

Emma placed Nazar’s head on her lap.

“Why?” Universe-11 Nazar said slowly. “Why are helping him? He does not deserve any of that.”

“I don’t know about that…” Emma started scratching Nazar’s hair slowly. “But what I do know is, he needs help and no matter what happens, I am going to help him. Even if it costs me everything.”

“I… I don’t understand.”

Emma raised her head and smiled.

“....”

She wanted to say something but she could not come up with words to describe it.

She then looked back down at Nazar whose head was on her lap.

After a little while, Universe-11 Nazar then crouched down next to Nazar and spoke.

“Come to my universe when this is over. I will tell you everything I know about us and the importance of Emily in our life.” He paused. “You might not believe me at first, but we are bigger than you thought. There are hundreds of us across the universe and I have learned the secret of why we exist and why we have powers. I will tell you all about it when you come to my universe.”

He then stood back up and tapped a few buttons on a small device which was in his hand.

“Also, if you really want to change, then become someone who Emma can be proud of. Someone who can save her from this darkness you dragged her into.”

He then looked back at Emma and smiled.

“It was good to see you again, sis.”

He then turns away from them. He was about to leave but he heard Emma’s voice again.

“Nazar,” Emma said that but Universe-11 Nazar knew that it was for him.

He immediately turned around.

“Why were you here today?”

“I… I was looking for someone who went missing a few days ago. She was accidentally thrown into another universe. So, I came here searching for her. I am going to another universe soon.”

“May I ask who it is?”

“My daughter.”

Emma raised her head.

“What’s her name?”

“Emma.”

She smiled as she heard that.

“I always thought that you might name your child after a fictional character or something.”

“I was thinking of that, but then I then I thought, why not my sister’s name. It's a beautiful name.”

He then tapped a key on the small device and he vanished into thin air.

She then looked back at Nazar, who was just staring up at her.

“Why did you never tell me any of that?”

“Tell you what?”

“You should have told me how your life was being affected by me. You should--”

“Shh… what’s already happened has happened. Just think about what you should in the future.” She paused. “So, what are you going to do now?”

“I am going to find the person behind this. I… am going to make them pay.”

“Just… don’t kill anyone anymore. And don’t play God anymore. Please?” She said slowly. “Can you promise me that?”

“...”

Nazar thought for a second. He then raised his right hand and stroked Emma’s hair.

“Yes. I promise.” Nazar said as he forced a smile on his face. “I will not kill anyone. Ever again. If I find the person behind this, I am going to make them pay without killing them.”

Emma smiled as she heard that.

Aria was watching the whole thing happen before her. She was standing close by, so she heard everything.

No one noticed, but the majority of the superhumans had heard the whole thing between them. They were on the moon and some of them were on Earth, but Solace had shown them the whole conversation.

Nazar just lay down and Emma and Aria stayed with him.

One week later - Monday, 29th of July 2019: Near planet Xiem, Vanaha Empire:

Kiet stands beside Reaper, Hial, Lian, and Weq on planet Xiem’s moon. They were talking about what has happened since the war started about a week ago.

As Kiet was explaining this, he looked towards Weq who shrugged suggesting he did not know what happened to them.

“”

“” Kiet paused. “”

“”

“” Kiet then looked at each one in front of him. “”

Both Lian and Hial nodded.

“”

“”

“” Kiet then looked at Hial, who was standing next to Weq. “”

Weq then handed over a few books to Lian, who moved away and started reading them immediately.

“”

Upon hearing that, Kiet’s body suddenly stiffened.

“”

The room was filled with silence. It was good news in one way, but it was bad news as well. It was good news because Vanaha Empire was safe, but what if Duluria used that weapon on Chochica Empire?

After a little while, Kiet noticed something. Reaper has been busy in the war and he has not taken a single break.

“”

“”

“”

Kiet chuckled as he heard that.

“”

Both Weq and Hial started staring at Reaper, which made him pretty uncomfortable.

3 Days ago - Outox Empire:

The queen of Outox Empire, Wep was sitting on her throne in the throne room. The throne room changes its design every other day. It is made of advanced technology that automatically changes the settings based on the situation. Right now, it looks like a throne room you would find in 15th Century China.

Someone entered the throne room using teleportation.

As soon as he entered, he kneeled down before the queen. He was no elf-like. He looked a lot like a human, but different. He had long hair and big eyes, without the sclera. The eye colour is red. The head is shaped like an egg and he is very short.

“”

As the queen heard that, you would expect tension and fear on her face, right? Instead, she had a smile on her face.

“” She said this in a very low voice.

She forced her smile to disappear and gave an order to the person before her.

“”

As she said that, the man nodded and vanished into thin air.

Outside the planet, Death 100 appears.

“”

Professor Death, a frog-like man said.

“”

“”

Darkness sighed.

“”

Most of the Death 100 dropped themselves to the planet. They all combined should easily destroy the whole planet, but that is not their mission.

As soon as they dropped to the ground, they were surrounded by hundreds of soldiers.

All the soldiers were not alive. They were robots. Robots made of technorganic tech. Unlike the Vanaha Empire’s technorganic tech, this one is almost ‘alive’. It cannot be hacked.

“”

Darkness said while looking around nervously. The reason? It was because her access to the interdimensional energy known as magic was severed.

It was not just her.

Bloodlust was turned off immediately. Hurricane was teleported somewhere where her powers would prove useless. Graviti was sent into a pocket dimension. Brawn was taken out like he was nothing.

“”

Professor Death wanted to say ‘Let’s get back to the ship’, but he stopped halfway.

It was because their ship was blown into pieces.

“”

As Professor Death looked at Meltdown, he was being disintegrated slowly. His energy form was disappearing. It was like his energies were leaking out and he was returning to his normal form. However, as his normal form has been destroyed, it meant he will be gone for good.

All other Death 100 members were losing their battles too.

In less than a few minutes, the Outox Empire managed to take out the remaining members of Death 100 like they were nothing.

When they were part of the alliance, most of the other empires made fun of them because this empire solely focuses on knowledge, but it did not mean they were incompetent. They were more than capable to do something that most other big and powerful empires couldn’t do.

Now:

All of them listened to Weq who told them about what had happened to the remaining Death 100 members.

They all seemed confused, surprised and awed.

Hial placed his hand on Weq’s should with a massive smile on his face.

“”

He suddenly stopped. They all stopped doing what they were doing. They looked scared. They were confused, too.

CAAARRAACK!!

The voice of thunder echoed through the moon.

It did not just echo through the moon, but it could also be heard for millions of miles.

“” Kiet said slowly.

“” Hial asked nervously.

“” Weq said.

“”

Everyone turned their gaze towards Reaper.

“”

“”

CAAARRAACK!!

“”

THUD!!

Something landed. And the thunder had stopped now.

All five of them hurried out of the small cave they had built for themselves and rushed outside.

There was lightning. Uncontrollable lightning.

CAAARRAACK!!

They looked at one stop. The lightning was hitting this one particular place a few hundred meters away from them. Or it was being produced from that place.

“” Kiet muttered.

At that moment, lightning started to fly everywhere. It went straight and hit Reaper, but he was able to live through it. However, if it had hit someone else, it was would have killed them.

The lightning stopped. And there was an unfamiliar figure standing.

It looked like a human.

A sparkle of hope appeared in Kiet’s eyes.

“”

The unfamiliar figure walked towards them.

Once they saw his face, he did not look like the person they were expecting.

“The name is Edward Hunt but you can call me Norse God.” The man identified himself in English.

He had blonde hair. Green eyes. He was about 1.78 M tall.

An evil smiled ripped his face in half. His body started emitting a blue spark everywhere. Before they could react, then a few miles around them were covered with uncontrollable thunder.

“Prepare to die.”

As Edward Hunt shouted, the whole place for about 5 miles or so was nothing but uncontrollable lightning. Blue sparks were flying everywhere.

The others teleported out to a different place where they could not get harmed, but one man stood behind. Reaper.

Earth’s moon:

It’s been one week since Emily has died. Since then, Nazar has been searching for the person behind this.

“Nothing?” Nazar sounded angry.

- I am sorry, Master, but I have found nothing. -

“Did you follow the energy signature?”

- Master, I cannot find the right energy signature. It is hard to read. -

“Hard to read…?”

Nazar’s eyes widened with surprise.

“Magick.”

- Magick? What do you mean, Master? -

“Magick was used.”

He then closed his eyes and looked at every single energy signature he did not understand.

While he was looking at different energies, he found one magical energy signature that should not be here. Demonic magick. He saw something similar not long ago, so why would this energy appear out of nowhere?

As Nazar was thinking that, someone showed up behind him. He teleported behind him, but Nazar did not notice.

The man walked slowly behind Nazar and then placed his chin on Nazar’s left shoulder, which surprised Nazar.

However, before Nazar could react, the man said something.

“You will find your answers in the middle of a cosmic war,” the voice whispered in his ear.

“Cosmic war…?” Nazar said slowly.

He did not get an answer.

He turned around to see the man walking through a portal.

The man looked back and he had a smile on his face.

(I wonder what will do against him. Will you abandon your promise when you see him?) Lucifer thought.

“Lucifer…?”

Just as Nazar said that Lucifer went through the portal and left Nazar confused.
