Arc 47 - The Demon

Moon of planet Xiem - Vanaha Empire:

The demon known as Bur’goth has appeared. He is known to be the mastermind behind the creation of the new superhumans.

“Demon?” Eddie muttered.

When he found out that he was given power by a demon, his spirit was crushed.

“What is your real plan? How are you planning on getting to become a high-class demon?”

Bur’goth smiled.

“Let me tell you what I have done and what I will do to achieve my goal.” Pride could be heard in his voice. “When I first found out about Zeratho’s plan, I wanted to crush his goals. Just because he is the son of a powerful demon, it does not make him my superior. We were supposed to be friends, but he used me like a slave.”

“Zerathos...” Nazar muttered. “I hate that name.”

“He said that he will get his power back and make Earth his new hell. I went along with his plan. In 2001, I created secret societies on your planet, while dressed as an angel. I provided them all the information to survive. The first stage of Zerathos’ plan failed.”

(So, it was him?)

“Once he commenced his plan, I broke the barrier around your planet by using many different artefacts. I also provided some superhumans with permanent powers without their understanding. Like that little girl is known as 010.”

Nazar’s eyes widened with surprise.

“However, when you killed her, she lost her powers forever. I planted the ideas in her mind about manipulating reality and how to do it. She wanted revenge and I provided her with the power to do so. I knew that once the reality is changed, the galactic empires will not sit down and watch.”

(This bastard. Now, you made it personal.)

“In that confusion, I killed the person known as Mother and replaced her. Once the reality was fixed, the others returned back without any problems.I implanted the visions in the mind of a few precognitions from Chochica Empire and they informed Iket about it.”

(Visions…?)

“You were supposed to be removed from the equation, but that angel had to interfere. Once she interfered, I did not really stop Iket from using Angel Fall. I thought he would take you out, but he did not because Lucifer showed up. My calculations and plans were all messed up.”

(...)

“So, I informed the Duluria Empire and let them know about what Iket had done. I angered them and implanted ideas of war on both sides. While this was happening, Iket used Death 100 to attack a planet that belonged to Duluria Empire.”

(Seriously?)

“After seeing how effective they were, I took control of them behind Iket’s back. Once the Death 100 failed, I found the person known as Eddie. I took him to another dimension where I experimented on him for days, but in this dimension only an hour had passed. So, I brought him here and used him to attack mindlessly.”

Bur’goth narrowed his eyes.

“That is until you showed up. One of the few people that mess up my plans and calculations. So, I am telling you this now because I can keep you busy.”

“Busy?”

“The final stage of my plan started when I showed myself to you. The first part of the final stage of my plan will be completed in a few minutes.”

“What is the final stage of your plan?”

“Destruction.”

Nazar sighed.

“So, what have really done to this guy?” Nazar said as he pointed towards Eddie.

“Oh, nothing. I just gave him power in return for his body. Unlike Zerathos, I don’t make contracts. I am little too generous.” Bur’goth said as he laughed.

He was about to look away from the demon in front of him and towards his ‘companions’, the demon stopped laughing.

“This is what I do,” Bur’goth said with a serious tone. “I give them hope. I give them power. I give them reasons to live. I even give them life… only to take it away or crush it for them.” Bur’goth pointed towards Eddie. “Look at him. I give him another chance. Another hope. A reason to live… but I took it all away from him now. He is broken. He has no hope. He will never be able to face anyone. He will cower into his old world once more. Even with all this power, he will sink deeper and deeper into the darkness.”

“And look at your other friend,” Bur’goth said as he pointed towards Kiet. “I have broken his very idea of belief. I have broken his future. He will never be able to trust his ‘Mother’ ever again. And he will be scared for the rest of his life. He will watch as I destroy everything around him.”

He looked at Kiet, who was still frozen in shock. It was a little too much for him to take.

He then looked at Eddie, who did not look any better.

Nazar waved his hand and all three of them were teleported into the battleship.

He looked at them once more before teleporting out.

He returned about a minute later with Iket, Hoel, Luan and Wep.

Nazar then told them everything the demon said.

“We don’t have much time. I need you to figure out what the final stage of his plan is.” Nazar said to the leaders of the biggest empires in the galaxies. “Check what Mother has been up to, check for magic and anything you can. I will try to--”

“It can’t be...”

Kiet spoke as he looked down at the computer in front of him.

Nazar and the others looked at him.

“That demon sent a video.”

He played the video. The video was showing the destruction of a planet.

A few minutes ago - Planet Mial:

After a long time, Reaper finally found out where his son is. Iget, the previous ruler of Jabalot Empire kidnapped Reaper’s son to try and convince him to join his Death 100. Reaper, with the help of Kiet has been looking for him everywhere, but could not find him anywhere.

However, Nazar used his Nigh Omnipresence to find the boy and once he did, he gave the coordinates to Reaper. Reaper left them as soon as he could and he is finally reunited with his son.

Reaper teleported into this planet a little while ago and he found his son pretty quickly. He was working with a slave trader. He was with his new master and they were selling a few slaves from Duluria Empire.

He was standing on stage and was surrounded by slaves. Next to the stage were chairs, where people sat down and purchased the slaves.

“” Reaper shouted as he saw him.

However, there was no response from his son.

He teleported next to him and hugged him.

But…

“”

Those words stabbed into his heart.

He is a monster who has killed many, but for some reason, this hurt him more than anything else in his life.

“”

Ziet merely looked away from him and faced his customers once more.

“”

“”

“”

“”

Ziet chuckled.

“” He paused. “”

Reaper looked around to find that all the customers had left the area. The slaves were also trembling in fear.

“”

“”

Ziet did not get to finish his sentence.

Someone had shot him. Not with a normal bullet but with an atomic disintegrator. The same model that Eort and the Internal Order used on Nazar.

His son vanished before him into nothingness. And it took less than a second.

He saw him become undone atom by atom, while he stood and watched. He could nothing to stop that.

“”

Reaper shouted as he fell on his knees.

His eyes went bloodlust and he roared.

As he roared, he unleashed his full power.

As he unleashed his power, the place around him became undone. The place started to disintegrate atom by atom.

When he unleashed his full power, he blew up like a star. And with it, planet Mial became a history.

After a minute, Reaper returned into his physical form and cried in the darkness and coldness of space.

Near planet Xiem - Vanaha Empire:

“That was planet Mial...” Kiet said.

“Planet Mial?” Nazar thought for a second and then he noticed the name. “Isn’t it the same planet--”

“Yes, the same planet where Reaper’s son is. And he went there too.”

“So, his plan is to destroy planets?”

“Could be,” Iket spoke. “If he wants to become a high-class demon, then killing a few planets should be the first part of his plan.”

“Then we need to figure out which planets he is going after first.”

“We will try and find the targeted planets,” Hoel said.

(If he becomes a high-class demon, then he will be too powerful to defeat. And he might even destroy Earth and I cannot have that.) Nazar thought.

“We can analyse the magic,” Luan said as she and Wep exchanged glances.

“And we will search for most likely planets,” Iket said.

“And we will try to learn more or maybe buy some time... That is if we can.” Nazar said as he looked at Eddie. “Eddie, let’s go.”

Nazar and Eddie teleported to the moon of planet Xiem.

“Oh?” Bur’goth said. “Didn’t expect to see you here?”

Nazar slammed his right foot into the ground and shot himself like a rocket.

“Why did you destroy the planet?”

“I didn’t,” Bur’goth said as he placed a shield around himself. “Reaper did. After I killed his son.”

Nazar punched the shield, but it did not make any difference. The shield was too powerful.

Nazar expected to not do any damage to the shield, but he was still a little shocked.

He landed on the ground once more.

(“Eddie, power up with my signal, okay?”)

Eddie was surprised to see someone speaking directly into his mind.

(“This is telepathy. So, calm down.”)

Eddie then nodded.

Nazar paid attention to his opponent.

“Reaper? How?”

Bur’goth sighed.

“Can you not figure it by yourself?” He paused for a little while. “I was planning on using him instead of Death 100, as he was the most powerful person on the team. So, I took his son from a planet in Vanaha Empire and stationed him on planet MIal. I messed up with his memories where he thinks he has been here all this time and I also implanted ideas about how much he hates his father… all false, but it worked out.”

“However, when he left the Death 100, I couldn’t contact him. I was going to use his son against him, but he showed up last week destroying battleships. In a way, it still worked for me, so I let him off.” But’goth continued. “When you used your Nigh Omnipresence, I allowed you to find him. I could have blocked him, but I wanted you to find him because I saw an opportunity.”

“Opportunity?”

“Yes. An opportunity. If Reaper went there, he would be able to easily destroy that planet. As soon as he left, I contacted someone, telling them about Reaper’s son. He has many enemies, so it was easy to hire someone on a planet like that.”

“So, how did he destroy the planet?”

“Once his son was shot in front of him by an atomic disintegrator, he was emotionally hurt. He let out all of his power and blew up like a star. Which, led to the destruction of the entire planet.”

“...”

Nazar did not think someone with quantum manipulation could be this powerful.

(I am glad he is not my enemy at this moment.)

“I am not sure if you know what I am talking about, but Reaper is the most powerful member of Death 100.”

Nazar waved his index finger behind his back.

As soon as he did, Eddie powered up.

CRAAACK!!

The thunder roared. Eddie shot uncontrollable lightning towards Bur’goth.

But… it did not do anything. The shield was too powerful to be penetrated by a simple lightning attack.

Bur’goth laughed.

“I am disappointed, in you Eddie. I gave you the power of Norse Gods and this is the best you can do?”

Eddie did not listen to his words. He continued attacking mindlessly.

He did not get close to his opponent. He focused on using lightning based attacks. He can use other powers too, but he is only focusing on lightning.

“...?!”

Bur’goth noticed something. Nazar was not around.

He looked around did not see him at all.

“Where is your friend?”

Eddie did not reply.

“Here.”

Nazar said that but Bur’goth looked around and could not see him.

Bur’goth kept looking around. He replied on his senes and he could not figure out where Nazar was coming from. He searched for his energy signature, but could not find him.

“Where--”

Bur’goth felt something wrong beneath him. The ground cracked open and he was swallowed up.

In less than a second, the ground cracked open and Bur’goth was swallowed by it. Then it was closed back. After a few seconds, the surface looked like it nothing had happened.

Nazar appeared next to Eddie, who was floating a few meters in the air.

“That should hold him down for a few seconds.”

“A few seconds? That’s nothing.”

“Dude, we are talking about a middle-class demon. Those guys are too powe-- see, he is already out.”

Bur’goth cracked open the surface of the moon with his bare hands and climbed up.

“That was good,” Bur’goth said as he clapped his hands together.

He then stopped clapping.

“But you are one annoying insect!”

Bur’goth clenched his right hand.

“I now understand why Zerathos feared you.”

He raised his right hand.

“And I need to get rid of you as soon as I can.”

He threw his fist towards Nazar and Eddie.

As Eddie saw the fist coming in, he moved back a little but Nazar did not move.

He merely looked at the punch that was coming at him.

(Vector manipulation… no. I will try something else.)

The fist was about to hit Nazar in the head… but it stopped. Not by Bur’goth but by Nazar. Nazar had stopped the demon’s fist with his palm.

“Wh-what…?”

“Oh? I thought I was an insect?”

“...?!”

Bur’goth pulled his fist away from Nazar.

Bur’goth felt himself being ‘pulled down’. He suddenly felt the increase in gravity under his feet.

He tried to take a step, but the gravity increased even more.

“I never really used gravity manipulation before but I can say this; it is one cool power.”

“I have…”

Bur’goth clenched his wings. His eyes lit up with hellfire. And so did his hands.

“...had enough of you.”

Bur’goth slowly walked towards Nazar.

“You think you are the only one with power?” Bur’goth said as he walked towards Nazar. Even though the gravity under his feet was increasing, he did not care. “Think again.”

Bur’goth shot hellfire towards Nazar. It was a massive fireball that could fry everything in its way.

Nazar managed to place a shield around him and Eddie at the last second.

“I am a middle-class demon. And this is my trial to become a high-class demon.” The fire in his eyes vanished. “You might have stopped an army of millions of undead… but you had help.”

The fire from his hands vanished too.

“Do you really think this human can be of any use to you? No. He is so scared that he is trembling.”

All of a sudden, his whole body started emitting hellfire.

Nazar stood speechless in front of a 5-meter tall fiery demon.

“I was not even relying on my power until now, let alone my demonic magic.”

And then fiery demon started to laugh as Eddie started to tremble in fear.

In Vanaha’s battleship:

Kiet and the others watched as the fiery demon appeared.

Iket, Kiet and Hoel were monitoring the planets in their empires. They were looking for most likely planets and try to figure out which planet will be taken out.

They came up with a few suggestions. They chose the most populated planets and sent orders to try and investigate it. Of course, they cannot investigate the whole planet to find a weapon, but it is worth a try.

Next to them was Luan and Wep. Luan was sitting in the middle of a green magic circle while Wep was looking at a book.

“”

“”

“” Wep spoke.

“” Kiet paused. “”

His father wanted to ask him about his relationship with Reaper, but it was not the time.

Kiet teleported out.

“” Luan said.

“” Wep suddenly stopped.

She then picked up another book.

They did not have enough time to give her confused looks.

She flipped through pages.

While she was doing that, Luan analysed the magical energies around them. She tried to follow the trail of demonic energy to see which planets Bur’goth has been to.

“” Wep muttered.

“” Luan sounded annoyed.

“”

Everyone’s eyes widened with shock and fear. They all stopped doing what they were supposed to be doing.

“”

“”

Luan nodded.

The magic circle around her vanished as she stood up.

“”

While she was speaking, something came crashing in. Wep lowered her head with her hands to try and dodge the attack.

Luan was just barely managed to dodge it by jumping in a little in the air.

Iket and Hoel looked back and saw the ship repairing itself.

They looked on the floor and saw a battered Eddie. He was beaten within an inch of his life.

His skin was burnt and so were his clothes. He was also bleeding.

“” Iket said that into a communication transmitter.

A few seconds later, a few soldiers showed up.

They were dumbfounded now. They saw the leaders of enemy empires standing with their emperor. And they also saw a human.

They had no idea what to do.

“”

“”

The soldiers said, but they did not move.

Even though Iket ordered them to do so, the soldiers hesitated to move.

Iket’s eyes lit up with white energy. His whole body started to radiate brightly while light around him.

“”

He used his divine power on his people. One ability the divine power gives its user is the ability to take control of his people.

Eddie was taken into the infirmary immediately.

As soon as Eddie was taken out, another figure came crashing in. It was Nazar.

Nazar landed with his face down.

The others looked out to see a fiery figure coming in towards them.

Nazar was getting up but the figure was coming in closer.

It would take Bur’goth less than 10 seconds to reach the battleship and destroy it completely.

Nazar got up and he was about fly out of here towards Bur’goth but something happened.

Bur’goth was taken off-course. He was forcefully thrown onto the nearby moon.

Nazar did not stay for long. He flew as soon as he could and followed the fiery demon.

Once he reached the moon, he found the demon to by lying down on the ground and standing above him was Reaper.

“YOU KILLED MY SON!” Reaper spat out these words as he pounded the demon beneath him with his fists.
