Arc 78 - The Nameless One (Part 5)
Nazar appeared in a dark world. It was not the same as the world where the Nameless One. This one was different. In that world, he could create light but here he cannot. The darkness envelops any kind of light.
(The void, huh? I really wish there was a Sentry too.)
Nazar moved around but it was too hard to move. The darkness was enveloping everything within it.
(Damn… I hate this place.)
Nazar moved and moved and moved but could not find anything.
(Damn this place.)
Nazar thought and thought and thought.
(Is the multiverse really not destroyed?)
He closed his eyes.
(Was Lucifer telling the truth? Can he be really trusted?)
An energy ball appeared between his palms.
(When will he betray me? I cannot trust him but he is my only chance.)
He opened his eyes.
(I don’t want me or anyone like me to be used as a weapon.)
His eyes lit up with white energy.
(And Lucifer is the only one who can save them. So, I should be ready for his betrayal.)
And he vanished into thin air.
Earth:
He flew into a wall in Laura’s house.
He smashed into the wall and there was a dent in it.
When he fell from the wall, he fell on top of a table, which broke.
As soon as Laura heard that, she came out.
“What the hell--Nazar?!”
“Oh, hi, Laura.”
Nazar sounded casual, which pissed Laura off. She just kicked him in the stomach while he was laying down.
“What the hell-- wait, why do look like you are about to vanish any second now?”
“I am basically projecting myself from somewhere else. My real body is somewhere outside the multiverse. My ‘soul’ is basically in the Void. And this is just me manipulating the matters and dark matters of this universe to create a body for myself. Being in the Void is taking too much energy, so I cannot keep this ‘body’ out for much longer.”
“I see. And sorry about the kick.”
Nazar tried to get up, but he couldn’t, so Laura helped him stand up.
“Thank you,” Nazar said with a smile on his face.
“What are you doing in that void again?”
“How long was I gone for?”
Laura thought for a minute while supporting Nazar to stand up.
“Come on, just guess it. I don’t have much time.”
“I think over 3 weeks.”
Nazar frowned when he heard that.
“3 weeks of constant death, huh?”
“What do you mean constant death?”
“The Nameless One has been killing me over and over and over again. Just to power himself up.”
“Are you okay?”
“I would be lying if I said yes.”
She helped him sit down on the sofa.
“And you are just letting him do that?”
She sat next to him.
“Well… I don’t have a choice.”
“What do you mean you don’t have a choice?”
“I need to… This is the only way to kill him.”
“By powering him up?”
“It’s Lucifer’s plan.”
Laura looked at him in shock and maybe a little fear.
“L-Lucifer?”
“Yes. But I don’t really trust him.”
“Then why are doing this?”
“It’s… It’s a long story.”
There was a little silence.
“So, what are you going to do?”
“I just came here to see if Lucifer was telling the truth. I wanted to confirm if the multiverse is destroyed or not.”

“Destroyed? The multiverse?”
“...”
Nazar looked at her.
“What happened when the other person, who looked like me, showed up?”
“You exchanged a few words, and then you vanished. Not as you usually do, but you started to… to… what’s the word? To...”
“Disintegrate?”
“Yes. That’s it.”
“I see.”
Nazar sighed.
“Well, I need to get going.”
Nazar stood up, but only with Laura’s support.
“And,” Nazar looked at her, “I am sorry about… uh… what happened in that other universe. I… uh… well, you said that you did not mind being seen by me, so I thought you wouldn’t mind… Anyway, I did not see anything. I was seeing all your energies instead of seeing your actual body.”
Laura just smiled.
“To be honest, I think I overreacted.”
“Yes, you did.”
She elbowed him in the stomach.
“Ouch.”
Nazar’s form started to slowly fade.
“Its… ngh… it's taking everything from me. Anyway, I might be back soon. So, I will apologise properly next time.”
“You don’t need to do that.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. As I said, I overreacted.”
Nazar lost his footing. He was about to fall over but Laura supported.
“And if I don’t come back, I just want to say two things. I am sorry about everything. The whole thing with you and your brother.” Nazar paused before continuing. “And thanks for being there for me. Even if only brought you nothing but pain.”
Nazar’s hands started to disintegrate too.
“Please don’t die.”
Nazar smiled.
“I don’t want to… but it is the opposite of the plan. I need to die a few thousands times more. And I… I am not sure I will have enough power after that.”
“So, you came here to tell me that because you couldn’t face your sister like this, right? Because you don’t want her to know that you might not be coming back?”
“More or less. And no, I originally came here to confirm if Lucifer was right. Also, the only reason I ended up here is that I left from this place.”
“I see.”
Nazar’s feet disintegrated and fell to the ground.
“I need to leave now. Bye.”
Nazar was about to vanish, but Laura said something.
“Wait!”
Nazar stopped disintegrated.
“What?”
She kissed Nazar on the lips. It went on for about 5 seconds.
“Wah?!?!”
Nazar’s mind went completely blank.
It took him a few minutes to recover from that shock.
“Your face is all red.”
Laura laughed after that.
“Where did this come from? I hate when a romance comes out of nowhere?”
“When you tell a girl that you love, I bet she will feel something, right?”
“I never said that to you, though.”
“Well, why don’t you say it then?”
“Why would I?”
“Well, you said, that you came back from the dead for me and something else.”
“What was I even thinking?”
“So, now say it.”
“Say what?”
“Say it properly. Instead of bringing death and darkness into it. Say you love me.”
Nazar looked down.
“I… I think I love you...”
Nazar chuckled.
“I never knew I will say this again to anyone this soon.”
“Never thought you would actually admit to it,” Laura said. “It seems like you just needed a little push. Your sister was right.”
“Haa?”
“And who was the other one?” Her expression became serious, but she was only joking.

“Emma. The Nameless One brought her there to try and ‘break me’. But it did not work.”
“I see. For a second, I thought you were cheating on me.”
“...”
“Anyway, don’t die, okay?”
“I don’t think I can change my mind now.”
She kissed him again.
“How about now?”
“Still not changing my mind.”
She kissed him again.
“Nope.”
She kissed him again and it went on for much longer. While they were kissing, Nazar disintegrated into nothingness.
The Void:
Nazar’s eyes opened in the Void once more.
(It was not… disgusting?)
Nazar took a minute to finally recover from this shock.
(It was not disgusting?!?!)
Nazar moved in a random direction.
He moved, moved and moved. He flew in a random direction.
(Where did I see that man… being when I was here last time?)
His eyes lit up with bright white energy.
(6th dimensional plane of existence. I made this plan without thinking about it. But if I die now, it means he will still not be at full power. Which means he won’t be able to destroy everything.)
Nazar’s whole body started to lit up with bright white energy.
(I don’t have enough power to light up the whole dimension, but at least I can try. Anyway, was around here? It is hard to tell.)
He blew up like the sun in this dark world.
As he blew up, the whole dimension lit up with bright light.
When the surrounding area around Nazar lit up, he noticed a few people were very close to him.
He quickly moved closer to one of the people. It was the same one he saw a few weeks ago when he entered this dimension.
(“Ah. You are back.”) The man said to Nazar telepathically.
The man before Nazar was an alien who died a few hundred years ago. He has been around here this whole time trying to find the doorway to the 6th dimensional plane of existence.
(“Have you found it yet?”)
(“If I had, I would have already achieved my goal.”)
(“I see.”)
Nazar looked around and saw so many more of powerful beings who are being held here.
(“Did you know, some of them escaped to your universe some time ago?”)
(“Lucifer told me about it, but I did not believe him. So, it was true.”)
Nazar looked at the man before him and found him frozen in his place.
(“What?”)
(“Lucifer? As in the Lucifer?”)
(“Yeah?”)
Nazar’s reply was casual.
(“Are you sure you are a human?”)
(“Yes, I am.”)
The man took a few minutes to recover.
(“Bris, how did you find about the 6th dimensional plane of existence?”)
They started to move in a random direction. There is no sense of south, east, west, or north in this place.
(“Um… I used to be a scholar on my planet. Our people left physical bodies a long time ago and we moved beyond the physical world. In there, I studied different dimensions and found the possibility of more than 5 dimensions existing. And after being here for a long time, I noticed a few things.”)
Nazar looked at him without stopping.
(“What kind of things?”)
(“A bright white light appeared. It seemed like a doorway. I just heard from someone else. This door was supposed to be the doorway to the 6th dimensional plane of existence.”)
(“So, it's just a rumour, huh? A bit disappointing.”)
(“So, why are here again? You told me you hate this place?”)
(“If the rumours are true, I need the help of these people to defeat a God. A nigh-omnipotent god.”)
(“Hm? But why don’t you just become nigh-omnipotent and kill him yourself?”)
Nazar did not reply for a while.
(“I promised my sister I will no longer play god. And… I want to live my life a little normally. If I become too powerful, it means I will not be able to live with my family or even enjoy my favourite food.”)
Bris laughed.
(“It’s good to have goals.”)
Nazar sighed.
(“Where was the doorway?”)
(“The rumours say that it is close by. If we go forward, we will find it.”)
(“You know, if you go to a dimension higher than your own, you will be shredded into small pieces, right?”)
(“I do. It will be better to die forever than be stuck in this place. Plus, I will achieve the goal of my life. I will prove to myself that my life was not wasted away, chasing after something that did not exist.”)
(“I see...”)
(“And you?”)
(“I want to get their help. If I die… I will at least be able to die forever. And at least I don’t have to see the destruction of everything.”)
(“I see.”)
The light disappeared once more.
Bris then took the lead.
After travelling for a few hours or so, Bris stopped.
(“This where the door apparently appeared.”)
(“I see.”)
A light appeared in Nazar’s right hand. The light then got brighter and brighter and brighter, until a few kilometres around Nazar lit up around Nazar.
(“How can you do this? I have seen people with light manipulation who couldn’t do anything like this. As soon as the light appears, it gets enveloped by the darkness.”)
(“Darkness manipulation.”)
(“Interesting. So, what will you do now?”)
In Nazar’s hand, a sword appeared. It was made of energy.
(“I am going to break the barrier between this place and the 6th-dimensional plane of existence.”)
Bris laughed.
(“I am actually serious.”)
Nazar’s eyes lit up with white energy. He moved around a little. He moved his hand about, like trying to feel something.
The light then vanished.
Nazar slashed his sword randomly. And in that slashed place, a bright white light appeared. It was brighter than the light of an angel.
When Bris saw that, his eyes were wide open. His mouth was open as well.
And then he smiled. It was not just a smile, it was a smile with a lot of meaning behind it.
(“I…I never knew… I never thought that my goals will be achieved. Thank you.”)
(“You’re welcome?”)
Nazar placed his hands in the rift and then pressured it. He then ripped open the rift. It increased to a point where someone could enter through it.
Nazar looked back and smiled.
(“Thanks for your help, Bris. If it wasn’t for you--”)
(“Can I come with you?”)
Nazar turned around and looked surprised.
(“You… you can die there.”)
(“It’s better than ‘living’ in this place.”)
(“Are you sure?”)
(“It will be the best thing ever.”)
(“Okay. You can come.”)
A paper appeared in Nazar’s hand. He wrote something on it.
(“What are you doing?”)
(“If we don’t survive, I need to find a way to send them a message.”)
(“That’s very smart.”)
Nazar took a deep breath.
He then placed his right foot inside the rift.
He entered the place, expecting the worst, but he entered the dimension and he did not find himself shredded into small pieces.
(“Ah?”)
(“You are alive? Are you sure you are human?”)
Nazar’s mind went completely blank.
He took a few seconds to understand what was happening.
(“You know what? I am not so sure anymore.”)
Bris entered the dimension too.
(“Thank you for everything. I will be dead in a few seconds.”)
Nazar turned around to find Bris’s feet being shredded into pieces. Then his hands.
Nazar tried to push him back into the Void, but Bris shook his head. He smiled as he was shredded into small pieces. Then that small pieces vanished into thin air.
(Damn.)
He faced the dimension full of light.
(I can’t see anything--what?!)
All of a sudden, the bright white light vanished. Nazar could see what was in front of him.
The whole place looked like it was made out of diamonds. Everything was shining. And there was a sun in the middle of the blue sky.
Nazar flew high above the place. And he looked down on the ‘city’ below him.
There was also an ocean. A blue ocean.
After a few seconds, Nazar was surrounded by beings who resembled humans. They were wearing thin white dresses.
“It’s a human?” One of them said.
“That can’t be possible.”
Nazar could understand what they were saying.
They all looked young. Young as in their early 20s.
More and more of them showed up around Nazar. He looked confused for many reasons. One: how is he not being shredded to pieces? Two: why do these beings resemble humans? Three: why do they speak English? Or does Nazar hear that? Four: why do they all look so young? All of them look the same age.
Among the new people’s, one of them looked like their ‘leader’. Nazar thought she was their leader because when she appeared, everyone moved aside, so she could come closer to Nazar.
“The Nameless One, huh? Never thought I would see you here.”
Nazar started to become surprised.
“I am not the Nameless One. I am a human.”
The woman laughed.
“A human? Then how can you survive in the 6th dimensional plane of existence?”
“I don’t know.”
The woman’s all of a sudden became serious.
“It can’t be… can it?”
Nazar looked at her in confusion.
“On a closer look, you are him.”
Nazar frowned when he heard that.
“I said, I am not the Nameless One.”
“No, you are not. You are the human.”
Nazar looked confused once more. Everyone around him exchanged glances and their expressions became serious as well.
“Then who--”
“You are Nazar of Universe Prime, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then, you are him.”
Nazar frowned again.
“JUST WHO DO YOU M--”
“You are Nazar, right?”
Nazar took a deep breath.
“Yes.”
The woman moved back a little.
“Do you why you are not being shredded to pieces?”
“No.”
“It is because you are the being from the 8th dimensional plane of existence.”
(Ah. So, it was not a hyper state of consciousness but a higher state of existence? Come on, Zerathos, how did get this so wrong. All this time I thought I had a hyper state of consciousness but it was--Wait, what?)
“Wait, what?” Nazar shrieked in surprise.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
