《New Life》Chapter 138 - A Boy’s Dream (Part 2)

Saturday, 5th of October 2019:
He was at the beach, looking at the sunrise.
(What am I?)
It was a question a man asked himself inside his head.
“I am the Dreamer,” he said out loud. There was no one around but he said it anyway. “I dream.”
(What is my purpose?)
Inside his head, he asked himself another question.
“I dream over a place called the Dream World.”
And he answered it out loud again.
(But why?)
“I am the Dreamer.”
(Why do I deserve this power?)
“It is because of that brain, isn’t it?”
He closed his eyes.
(What are you going to do with this power?)
“Do what I am supposed to be… rule over the Dream World.”
(Do you have any idea what you have created?)
He started to float.
“I exist because I am one of the few new beings who came into existence. I came into existence because the residual energies that were left behind from the battle that took place the other night.”
Ever since he woke up, he felt a lot of power within him. And more than that, he knows things. And so to sort through that information, he asks himself a question inside his mind and answers it out loud.
“Beings way above us fought and their energies were stored in one place.”
He looked up.
“Once the barrier was removed, energies went into different beings across the universe. I was given the power to rule over the Dream World… and thus awakened.”
He started to fly up.
“I shall find the others.”
He was faster than the very speed of light.
However, he stopped as soon as he reached the edge of the solar system.
“Wait, why do I have to do that?”
He started to fly towards the earth.
“It is his fault… and his job.”
He stopped suddenly.
He held his head between his palms.
“I am a god.”
“I am human.”
“Kill them.”
“Save me.”
He was talking to himself.
“I am a god.”
“No. I am not a god.”
“Obey me.”
“No!”
“I have a mission. Ruin the life of humans. Humans who don’t understand anything. They are pathetic.”
“No. I am a human as well.”
“I have left that category a long time ago.”
“I AM A GOD!”
“I AM A HUMAN!”
“I JUST WANT TO DIE!”
All of a sudden, he was confused.
“Let's show these pathetic humans what it means to be a god.”
“NOOO--”
“YESSS!”
He has no idea whose thoughts that were.
He has no idea who is in this body with him.
What is he supposed to do?
“Humans are pathetic.”
All of a sudden, he stared at the Earth below him.
His face was ripped in half.
“Yes, they are.”
London:
Nazar’s back was pressed against the bed. He was sitting on the floor and was staring at the ceiling.
(How am I going to tell Emma?)
He has been thinking about this for hours. He could not sleep last night. He could not sleep yesterday either, so he shut off his brain just to try and feel a little better but it was useless.
He heard rustling behind him and turned around to see Laura was awake now.
She was scratching her eyes.
“What time is it?”
“6 AM.”
“I see… but why are you awake?”
“No reasons.”

“Is something on your minds?”
“No. Why?”
“Well… I woke up a few times and you were awake.”
“Well...”
Nazar thought about it for a second.
“I slept a lot yesterday. So, could not go to sleep.”
Laura gave him a suspicious look.
She tapped the area above her right chest and pyjamas appeared around her. It was one-piece panda pyjamas.
Nazar was a little confused.
She got up and sat in front of him on the floor. She crossed her legs in front of her.
“Tell me, what’s on your mind.”
“What do you mean?”
“Come on...I know you well enough to know when something is on your mind.”
Nazar was actually surprised.
“When something is on your mind or when you are thinking very hard… well, you usually stare at empty spaces, you barely blink, your cheeks seems a little tenser and you have your fist clenched for no reasons.”
Nazar was truly surprised.
“How do you--”
“Come on, remember how we worked together?”
She chuckled.
“Remember when your friend died? Well, you thought very hard and I picked on those things. As well as when we spent some time in another universe and in the past.”
“I… I did not expect that from you. Like seriously, that is awesome how you picked up on it that quickly.”
She smiled.
“But… how did you notice me when you could not see my whole body?”
“Well, I just guessed at first.”
“Ah...”
“So, what is on your mind?”
Nazar then told her what happened on Friday after she left. Everything includes the deaths and battles… and what Michael said above his adoptive parents.
“Oh.”
That was the response she gave.
Nazar slightly nodded his head.
“So, are you going to tell her.”
Nazar took a deep breath.
“I want to… but I don’t know if it is the right time.”
“Well, you would rather tell them sooner than later.”
“I know but--Hm?”
Nazar’s expressions changed all of a sudden. He looked worried.
“What’s wrong?”
He got up and opened the door.
Emma was standing out there.
"Something is wrong with me."
"What do you mean, Emma?"
"Something is very wrong with me."
He placed his hand on her head and his eyes widened in shock.
“What the…?”
His whole body lit up with blue energy.
He unleashed the energies and it directly hit Emma.
Her whole body trembled and then relaxed.
She was about to fall over but Nazar managed to catch her before that.
“What’s wrong with her?”
“I… I don’t know.”
He placed his hand on her head and she was feeling better know.
“What the hell was that?”
“I was going to ask you that.”
Emma took a deep breath.
“So, I was sleeping and all of a sudden I was awake… but not really awake. I was in this dark place and then… and then there was this guy who kept talking to me. And then all of a sudden the whole place was filled with people. And so ran and crawled out of there. When I opened my eyes I saw him… I saw the same person floating above me. When I blinked, he was gone.”
She was speaking very fast.
“And so I tried to get up but I felt like being pulled towards. At the last second, I managed to get here and then you pulled me out.” She paused for a little while before continuing. “I don’t know… but that guy seemed to have been helping me?”

“I see--Laura?!”
He immediately turned around and caught Laura before she fell over.
Her body looked lifeless.
He touched her with his hand and she finally looked alive.
She gasped.
“What the hell was that?”
“I don’t know--”
“It is happening all over the world,” Solace said as she took her physical form. “Everyone around the world is falling ‘asleep’.”
A few screens appeared before her.
She started tapping something on it.
“I will take care of all the aeroplanes in the air, so you take care of everything else. Stop all moving vehicles and get everyone to safety.”
Nazar did not waste a single second.
A massive energy ball appeared between his palms and he smashed it on the floor.
As soon as he did that, the energy flew out and covered the whole world in less than a second.
And so he started to work from there.
Every car stopped moving. Trains stopped moving. Boats stopped moving. Anyone who was swimming was brought up to a safe place. And more. Everyone’s physical body was safe.
It only took him less than five minutes.
“Seriously what the fuck is going on?” Nazar asked/
“I don’t know but it is happening all over the world,” Solace said.
“I see...”
Nazar’s eyes widened.
He felt bizarre energy. Something similar… yet so different.
He felt energy similar to his own… but it was very different.
Before he could react, someone appeared in the room with them. He appeared behind Emma.
It was the man who calls himself the Dreamer.
Nazar quickly moved Emma away from him.
When Nazar had time to look at the being properly, he knew who it was. It was someone he knew.
“You should be dead,” Nazar said rather casually.
The Dreamer smiled.
He used his index finger to point at his head.
“It is all thanks to your brain.”
“Brain? What is he talking about?”
“Brain? What is he talking about?”
Both Laura and Emma said in unison.
“I will tell you about it later.“
“Oh? You have not told them about it?”
Nazar sighed.
“How are you alive? You are supposed to be dead.”
“As I said… your brain saved me. Because your real brain is inside my head, I am alive today.”
“Nazar!”
He looked at Emma.
“What is he talking about? And more than that, who on earth is he?”
The Dreamer looked at Emma.
“Why, I am your older brother, Emma.”
Emma’s mind went completely blank.
Laura had seen a younger version of him in another universe, so she kind of noticed him. But she thought it was him from another reality or something.
“WHAT?!”
“I died… 19 years ago. But something else happened.”
Emma could still not take in everything he said.
“They put his brain inside my head… but it was useless until yesterday.”
“Hm?”
“The battle between angel, fallen angels, Archangel, the half-breed, demons, beings above that… and you. That battle left a lot of energies behind. Once the barrier was removed, that residual energies travelled across the universe, giving people like me, control over a fundamental force or… or… what’s the word?”
(How does he know about that?)
He thought very hard about it but could not come up with anything.
“Whatever… fundamental forces or thing in the universe.”
Nazar was still a little confused.
“In other words, a new breed of beings were created… Cosmic Entities.”
Nazar laughed.
“There is no such thing--”
“It wasn’t until now.”
Nazar did not know how to react.
“So--”
“Yes. There are more of us. So, I am here to ask you to do your job. To find them and keep them safe.”
Nazar chuckled.
“And why would I do that?”
“OH, JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A MINUTE!” Emma shouted.
Nazar turned around in confusion.
“Emma…?”
“FIRST OF ALL… WHAT THE FUCK? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? AND WHAT IS THIS ALL--ARGH!! JUST EXPLAIN EVERYTHING.”
“Let me do that, sis,” the Dreamer said with a wide smile on his face. “Now, please take a seat.”
(‘Sis’? How does he know about that?)
Emma sat on the bed.
“Our parents removed his brain… to see if he could ‘heal’ on that level. Once they removed the brain, they replaced it with an artificial brain. So, they tried to put that brain inside of him… but it was not working. So, he was left with the artificial brain.”
Nazar did not know that part.
“So, they placed his brains within my dead body to see if I could be revived. I was ‘revived’ in a way… I was just in another place. In a place called the Dream World. Where people go when they dream.”
Nazar recently heard of a place called Mind Space. And he still does not know what that place is.
“While my body was ageing in the real world, I was ageing in the Dream World. I could hear things… but that was all. I tried escaping that world… but I could not. However, since yesterday, the residual energies from yesterday’s battle ‘revived’ me fully. And now I can go between the worlds as I please.”
“So, you are holding the world hostage--”
The Dreamer laughed.
“Oh, no no. Not all. It is just--Ngh!”
The Dreamer raised his palm to his head.
He covered his right eye.
“NO! Not now!”
As soon as he shouted that, he vanished into thin air.
Nazar tried to trace him but he couldn’t.
“Solace?”
“Nothing.”
“So, you don’t have brains?” Emma asked.
“I do now. I made my own a few months ago.”
“So, this is what Emily meant by you not being able to ‘think’, right?”
“Kind of.”
“And how did she know about that?”
“I… I kind of told her after I got my powers… but removed it from her mind. And then when I returned her memories… well, she remembered it.”
“I see… But you should have told us.”
“I know… I was going to tell you soon… but not now.”
“How did you live like that?”
“You get used to it after a little while.”
Nazar took a deep breath.
“Can I go inside your mind? I need to see that place for myself.”
Emma nodded.
Nazar placed his hand on her head. He went inside her mind.
From there, he went through what happened in that ‘Dream World’ to Emma. And from there, he found a way to the dream world.
Inside the Dream World:
The Dream World is a dark place. In that dark place… a figure--no, figures appeared. Hundreds, then thousands, then millions and then billions.
They were all wondering where they were.
But Nazar did not pay attention. He looked for one person. The Dreamer.
After looking for a few minutes, he found him.
The Dreamer was no struggling.
“Ah, so you found the way I left for you.”
“Hm?”
“Look, brother, I don’t want us to fight… but there is something within me. I cannot control it.”
“What do you mean by something inside?”
“Because I have your brain, I have your thoughts inside me. And my own as well.”
Nazar gave him a confused look.
“So, you are telling me my brain is doing something to you?”
“Haha. No. If it was not for your brain, that energy would have never chosen me and I would have never awakened.”
“So…?”
“No, there is someone else with me. Another person. Another consciousness. A normal human.”
“Who?”
“A copy of Zarathos’ consciousness.”
Nazar’s eyes widened in shock.
But the Dreamer’s face was ripped in half with a smile.
“And I, Zerathos, am in control.”
(Huh? How does that work?)
The Dreamer waved his hand and Nazar was thrown out of the Dream World.

Delvers
Welcome to Draitall. The land of adventure and dungeons. Of heroic and epic tales and journeys. The world of delvers. Or at least that's how it gets sold by the select few who are able to obtain such glory. What to expect: Our MC Andaris is a determined fellow. Determined to overcome hardship and determined to make his dreams come true as a delver. But this is a cruel, unforgiving and dark world. While there will be plenty of borderline cliche heroics from our MC and friends, bear in mind that this is still a crappy and f***ed up world. If you do not apprecieate the characters you've grown attatched to being eaten by the denizens of the dungeons or the equally malevoulant mankind above, then i suggest perhaps continue scrolling down the list of novels and give this a pass. There is an innate leveling system in a sense and a handful of innate skills that can be obtained, but beyond that there is not much to do with any form of game features. Certainly no bluescreens for this one.
