《New Life》Chapter 145 - Hell (Part 4)

London:
Nazar appeared in the middle of the city. He appeared in a random location. And it was raining.
His body was all bruised up and blood was pouring down. There was also a massive hole in his chest.
Though he does not remember how he got that and he doesn’t care. He knows he got it from a demon so it's all right.
However, he was laughing.
“Hehe.”
People gathered around him.
“Hehe haha hahaha.”
Some people started talking among themselves. And they were talking very slowly.
“Wh-what is going?”
“What’s wrong with him?”
“Well… he is not as invincible as we thought.”
“Hahaha.”
Nazar continued to laugh.
“That was fun.”
He raised his hand and held it up.
“Insufficient amount of data… but still better than nothing.”
He continued to laugh.
After a minute, he sat up.
He then stood up and found himself surrounded by confused people.
“I guess its time to heal up,” he muttered under his breathe.
As soon as he turned on his healing factor, all the wounds and bruises vanished. And he also got rid of the blood.
A barrier appeared around him so he can protect himself from the rain.
He does not need to but he finds it annoying.
He used his clairvoyance to see how Emma was doing.
Before he left, Mikasa told him that she would look after her.
“That reminds me… I wonder what Laura is up to.”
He searched for her and found her within a few seconds.
“What is she doing?”
Nazar sighed and flew away.
Laura was sitting in a park. She was soaking wet in the rain but she didn’t move. And she did not have an umbrella.
She was just sitting down and staring at a tree.
All of a sudden, Nazar landed on his knees in front of her.
Nazar held out his hand and umbrella appeared in it.
He held it above Laura.
“What are you doing here?”
“Just clearing my mind.”
“At least bring an umbrella with you,” Nazar said very slowly.
“... I forget.”
Nazar sat next to her.
His hand twitched and the weather changed.
It was now sunny.
Nazar looked down.
“I am sorry.”
“About?”
“I didn’t know… I did not know about killing your parents. I thought--”
“It’s okay. You were saving the world. And you had to get rid of the plague that was going to destroy it.”
Nazar looked at her.
He actually seemed a little concerned for her.
He knew that she was angry and sad… but to call her own parents ‘plague’? Well, Nazar was not expecting that.
“All this time… They pretended...”
Her eyes welled up.
Nazar wrapped his arm around her.
“All this time, they pretended to be our parents but they turned out to be some abominations.”
“...”
“I just... That bastard... All this time they pretended to be our parents when they were dead and… and just...”

She started to cry.
After a few minutes, when she calmed down, Nazar spoke.
“He is dead. I killed that demon.”
She looked at him.
“I went to hell today. I killed him… the demon who did this to all of us.”
“...”
Nazar smiled.
“You will get cold if you stay like this. So, let’s go home.”
“My accommodations just five minutes walk.”
“No need for that.”
Nazar and Laura vanished into thin air.
They appeared in her room.
Laura sat down on her bed and Nazar looked around.
“It’s pretty small,” Nazar muttered under his breath.
Nazar went closer and placed his hand on her shoulder.
“You are soaking wet.”
And immediately afterwards, her clothes were dry now and so was her hair.
“Thanks but I was gonna get a shower anyway.”
“I see.”
“I will go and get a shower. You stay here.”
“Okay?” Nazar said confusingly.
She got up and started undressing.
“Wait, in here?” Nazar said as he averted his gaze.
Laura sighed and continued undressing.
She went into the shower.
Nazar took her clothes and teleported is into his home.
It immediately went to its washing machine. And he turned it on from here.
While she was in the shower, Nazar cleaned up her room and tidied it.
And then he sat on the floor and wrapped his arms around his knees.
When she came out of the shower, she was drying her hair.
As soon as Nazar saw her, he averted his gaze because she was naked.
Laura frowned.
She came close and wrapped her arms around his neck from the back.
“What the hell is wrong with you today?”
“I thought you would be kind of pissed at me...and--”
“Why would I be pissed at you? You just had to do something to save the world.”
Nazar turned around.
“But--”
“No buts. I am not angry with you. I am angry with that demon… but he is dead now, right?”
Nazar nodded.
And he seemed a little relaxed.
She then tapped her chest and clothes appeared around her.
Nazar was kind of confused.
“Why don’t you use this all the time?”
“Ah, this?” She said as she pointed to her chest. “I do use it all the time. It’s just I always take off my clothes to clean it and then put it back in it.”
“So you learned to do that?”
“Yes. It was kind of hard at first. But now I just have to place the clothes next to it and tap it and boom… it goes in.”
“But you know it also produces its own clothes. So, you know you don’t have to add your own clothes to it.”
“I know. But I have a lot of clothes.”
“Ah, I see.”
She sat in front of him.

“Thanks for coming today.”
“I should have come a little earlier… but things happened.”
“Hm? What happened?”
Nazar took a deep breath.
“Mary and John are both dead.”
“WHAT?!”
“It happened as soon as you left… or rather teleported out.”
“How?”
Nazar then told her everything that happened. And then there was silence for a little while.
“Is Emma okay?”
“Well, she is a little better today. Mikasa said she will look after her today.”
“Well, you should have told me. I know how you can be sometimes. She just needed some emotional support.”
“I know… but it was… I don’t know, I just forgot about almost everything.”
“I see.”
“I am not saying I forgot you or anything… but I wasn’t really thinking clearly.”
“That is why you went to hell?”
“Pretty much. I just needed to focus on something else for a little while.”
“And it helped?”
“I was kind of bloodlust at first… then I met this weird demon. She creeped me out. And then it was all went away.”
Laura narrowed her eyes.
“Oh?”
“No, no, no. I did not mean it--”
“I see how it is. You go to a sexy demon to help you calm down.”
She kept on shaking her head.
“No. It’s not like that. I know I worded it wrong--”
“I am just joking with you.”
She laughed.
“Thanks.”
“Hm?”
“I missed making fun of you.”
She then sighed.
“I was just joking. Don’t take it seriously.”
“I know.”
“No, you don’t.”
“Yeah, you are right. I thought you were being serious.”
Laura laughed.
“Again, I am sorry.”
“About?”
“Everything.”
She placed her hand on his face.
“Don’t ever apologise to me. Ever. Okay?”
“Hm?”
“But under one condition.”
“And what is that?”
“Don’t ever do anything that would make you want to apologise to me. Do I make sense?”
Nazar nodded.
“Yes. Loud and clear.”
“Oh, and don’t ever cheat on me.”
“O-okay. S-so, can you stop giving me that death glare?”
“Oh, sorry.”
She smiled.
“Ah, I am so hungry. Do you want to eat something?”
“Yes.”
“I knew it. I shouldn’t have asked.”
“I can just teleport it. That should be easier.”
“Okay. Make sure to pay for it.”
“Got it.”
Nazar vanished into thin and then appeared five minutes later.
“That was fast. What did you get?”
“Burgers. Got it from somewhere in the US.”
“You don’t even know?”
“Nope. Solace one day brought it from there and I still have the coordinates memorised.”
“I see.” She paused before continuing. “What happened to Solace?”
“Well, I made her again but she self-destructed immediately. I still need to investigate it.”
“Okay. But you should do it quickly.”
Nazar nodded.
“Ah, yes. That reminds me.”
“?”
“My phone is still in your home.”
“Phone?”
Nazar closed his eyes and then a phone appeared in Nazar’s hand.
“Here,” Nazar said as he handed her the phone.
“It's out of a charge--”
Before she could finish, Nazar charged her phone.
“Show off.”
While she was on her phone, Nazar placed a box of burger and chips in front of her. And one in front of her. From the plastic bag, he took two cans of drinks. And gave one to her.
“I am surprised you did not go through it.”
Nazar gave her a blank look.
“Why would I do that?”
“I don’t know,” she said as she shrugged.
“I didn’t even know your phone was there.”
She placed the phone on the bed and picked up the burger.
“How did you not notice it?”
She took a bite of her burger.
“Oh, this is good.”
“Well, I have not really been to that room ever since that day.”
Nazar took a bite of his burger.
“Why?”
“I was keeping an eye on Emma.”
“24/7?”
“Pretty much.”
“Why though?”
“I didn’t want her to hurt herself.”
She gave him a confused look.
“She wasn’t eating for a few days.”
“Seriously?”
Nazar nodded.
“Is she really okay?”
“She is better now.”
“That’s good to know--Urk?!”
While she was talking, a shadow appeared behind her and stabbed her in the back.
Nazar did not even see it happen. It was too fast for him.
The shadow then vanished.
Before Laura fell to the ground, Nazar caught her.
But she was already dead.
“Laura! LAURA!”
He touched her pulse and it did not work.
He then tried to resurrect but it did not work.
Nazar screamed on top of his lungs… but something unexpected happened.
The whole world went dark and then broke like a piece of glass.
As it broke, he found himself looking at a red sky.
It all happened too fast for him.
(Laura?)
He sat up, only to find out that he was still in hell and surrounded by the Council of Demons.
(Reality warping?)
Nazar looked around.
(No. I have reality anchoring. Then...)
“You are weak, human.”
“We are high-class demons...”
“We were not even using 1% of our power against you.”
“And yes, you have reality anchoring…” the demon paused to smile. “But it is weak against our reality warping.”
The demons laughed.
“You are pathetic, human.”
“Don’t even think for a second that you can defeat us.”
A fist came crashing down towards his face.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
