《New Life》Chapter 146 - Hell (Part 5)

Hell:
Nazar was punched in the face by one of the demons.
However, he did not feel a lot of pain.
But he was thrown away.
Before he could recover, another demon kicked him in the sides. And they another in the leg, and the bones in his leg broke.
His leg healed immediately, so it was no problem for him.
(My reality anchoring is weak…? I did not know it worked this way. Interesting.)
The demons were beating the shit out of Nazar.
He was being thrown from one place to another.
And he was also being mocked. Mocked for how weak he is.
“You were overhyped.”
“We actually thought you were as powerful as they made you out.”
“Just how pathetic you are.”
They laughed among themselves.
“Well, if his power levels turned out to be wrong… then he can die. I guess that was a lie as well.”
One of the stabbed Nazar in the chest.
Then another ripped his head apart from his body.
However, he did not die.
He cannot die. He is no longer turning off his absolute immortality.
Nazar’s head shot itself towards Nazar body and connected itself to the body.
Nazar tried to get up but a demon slammed his foot into his face.
Nazar did not feel any pain but he was thrown away.
He was rolling on the fiery ground.
(These guys… they are not playing around.)
Nazar smiled.
However, it was was not very long.
Another demon slammed his foot into Nazar’s back and it broke.
He heard the bones in his back crack.
But he did not feel any pain.
However, he was healed almost instantly.
Even though he has turned off his healing factor, he still heals very fast.
Nazar tried to get up but a demon crouched next to him, so he stopped.
“You really are pathetic.”
“I know,” Nazar replied immediately.
“To think you could take on high-class demons.”
The demon laughed.
“Why did you come here?”
Nazar thought about it.
“I just came here to kill that two bastards… but then I… I just wanted to test myself against high-class demons. I don’t know… what happened and I started attacking everyone.”
Nazar narrowed his eyes.
“But now… well, you guys made it personal. Now, I will kill all of you…”
(If I can.)
Another demon sighed.
“Can you really not die?”
Nazar shook his head.
“Then we have a perfect prison for you,” another demon said.
A barrier appeared around Nazar.
“It is an energy prison. We will place you in another dimension for an eternity.”
Nazar did not even try to fight it. He knew he will find a way out of it.
The demons stood in a circle and the barrier got stronger.
Nazar touched and he was immediately electrocuted.
“That wouldn’t work.”
(If I get stuck here, what will happen to Emma… and Laura?)
Nazar narrowed his eyes.
He analysed the barrier around him.
He looked at its energy structure and found out that it was magic.
(Basic demonic magic, huh?)
Demonic magic is darker compared to angelic magic. If someone is using demonic magic, the price is higher but it is stronger. With demonic magic, even an ordinary person can resurrect the dead.
However, the price is the problem.
The price of using magic - any kind of magic - is paying with your own life force.
Demons and angels are stronger magic users because they are immortals. They have an unlimited life force.

If a normal person uses angelic magic, they would not die immediately, no matter how much they use. They will not be able to use it if their life force is short. But demonic magic does not care about that rule. You can use as much as demonic magic as you like and if you use stronger spells, you will pay with your own life.
Nazar snorted.
The demons looked at him in confusion.
(Breaker Touch. Destroy magic with a touch.)
He touched the barrier and it vanished into nothingness.
The demons were surprised.
“!!”
One of the demons kicked Nazar and he rolled across the fiery ground.
They used a spell on him to try and make him unconscious. They managed to make him unconscious after a few minutes of beating the crap out of him.
They were about to put another barrier around him but someone interfered.
“Stop!”
The looked behind them and saw Alice.
“Why?”
“It won’t work. Don’t make him your enemy.”
They all laughed.
“He is a weapon - a tool to be used. So, if you don’t kill him, you will be able to use him at some point - like everyone else. You can take advantage of him when you need it the most.”
She took a deep breath.
“I have done it. Aarin has done. Lucifer, I think. His new team has done it. And so many more.”
“And why would we do that? We are already strong enough.”
"Because I said he is a tool to be used. He is pathetic. He thinks himself above others... but he can be manipulated very easily."
The demons listened.
"And if you do make him your enemy, he will be harder to manipulate."
The demons exchanged glanced and nodded.
But.
They all heard a laugh.
It seemed so forced and out of place.
It did not even seem like a laugh.
They looked towards Nazar, who was now sitting down.
“I just pretended to be unconscious for a minute. Just to see what you guys were going to do… But damn, Alice, I never expected that from you.”
Nazar stood up.
He cracked his neck and his finger.
“Never expected that from you, Alice.”
Though he looked like he was laughing, Alice could see the anger in his eyes and on his face.
Nazar sighed.
(Accessing Nazar 3.0.)
“You know, I don’t take any fights seriously. I just don’t have enough motivation for it.”
Nazar narrowed his eyes.
“But when I do have motivation… the fight ends immediately after.”
The demons were confused as to why he was telling that story.
“I did not have any motivation today after killing Zerathos and the other demon.”
“We--”
“But now you made this personal. You made me motivated.”
Nazar’s face was ripped in half.
“Thanks.”
“And what are you going--”
“Alice.”
Nazar snapped his finger.
“Do your job.”
Alice changed. Her eyes were wide open. They were not blinking. Her body stopped moving.
(What…?)
Her body was not responding to her.
Nazar appeared behind her.
He placed his hands on her shoulders and whispered.
“I left your mind free. Try and take control of it. Haha.”
That whisper and a psychotic laugh sent chills through her body.
“Try and fight it.”
Alice tried to command her body but it wasn't responding.
"Now, let's sing your lullaby."
Nazar laughed.
“In the blackest day and brightest night. In brightest day and blackest night...”

“In the blackest day and brightest night. In brightest day and blackest night...”
Nazar said and Alice followed what he said.
“My black soul and white soul shall unite...”
“My black soul and white soul shall unite...”
(No… Don’t! Please!)
Nazar heard her cries but he instead laughed.
The demons finally noticed what Nazar was doing.
They attacked him with energy beams and a sword and physical attacks, but Nazar made himself and Alice intangible.
“Angel and demon shall become one...”
“Angel and demon shall become one...”
(No. Please!)
“Become one. Forget the differences. Stop rejecting.”
“Become one. Forget the differences. Stop rejecting.”
“No, no, no. This is bad,” a demon said.
The demons tried to move but they couldn’t.
Nazar had placed a barrier around them.
“I am Alice. The one above angels and demons.”
“I am Alice. The one above angels and demons.”
(I just remembered… it is a lot like a lantern oath.)
”Unleash my full power!”
”Unleash my full power!”
As she said that, her whole body turned into energy. She was so bright, yet so dark. Her angel and demon from was merging. She was a new form of beings. And now, she stopped pretending to be the same as others. She does not belong with any group. Not humans, demons, angels or Gods.
“That’s my girl,” Nazar said as he jumped back.
He flew up and the demons were still standing next to her.
“You can’t escape my wrath now,” Nazar was almost singing.
Alice shot a beam of energy towards the demons.
The demons couldn’t move.
They all looked concerned.
However, the beam of energy never reached them.
Lucifer appeared and deflected it.
He had created a barrier to keep the demons safe.
“!!”
Nazar looked on guard all of a sudden.
“What is…?”
“Let her go, Nazar,” Lucifer shouted from the bottom.
(Wasn’t he always calling me ‘human’? Oh well...)
“Why would I do that, Lucifer?”
“If you kill them, you can mess with all of the multiverse.”
“Oh?” Nazar said with a smile.
(Damn it! He is getting interested in this now?)
“Don’t do it! You will only regret this later. If you kill them, you can risk the destruction of universes.”
Nazar listened carefully.
“You already killed one of them. But you should be glad that I managed to reduce the damage to nothingness. So, if you kill them all here, I am not sure I will be able to do it in my current state.”
Nazar thought about it.
He waved his hand and Alice was back to normal. She was in her normal form.
She looked at Nazar.
“And we need to talk, Nazar.”
Lucifer was still on the ground.
“Later. Bye.”
Nazar vanished into thin air.
(Why is the most powerful being in the universe an emotionally unstable idiot?) Lucifer thought.
He looked at the demons and then vanished into thin air.
Nazar reappeared on Earth.
He was in London but it was not raining. And it was evening. He has been in hell for hours. He did not even notice it.
“I gotta go and see Laura.”
He then looked for her and found her.
He talked to her for a while and apologised. But she was not blaming him for what he did.
Laura was very surprised when she found out about John and Mary is dead.
After a while, Nazar went back home.
He found Emma alone.
“Where have you been?” Emma asked.
“Took care of some stuff.”
“Want to me about it?”
“Sure.”
Nazar told her about what happened in hell. He left out the part about Alice.
“So, you killed a demon, huh?”
Nazar nodded.
“And nearly destroyed a universe?”
“Well, I did not know about that...”
She pinched his ear.
And karate chopped his head.
“Ow!”
“Idiot. You should think before doing stupid shit.”
“I am trying...”
“Well, you should try harder.”
“Okay.”
Emma let go of Nazar’s ear.
“And what happened to Aeron… the Dreamer?”
“No idea...”
“I see.”
Emma stood up.
“I am hungry. What about you?”
Nazar chuckled.
“I am always hungry.”
“I don’t even know why I asked,” she muttered.
Nazar and Emma ate food and then she went to bed.
Nazar did not go to sleep.
He instead lied down on the sofa in the living room.
“This house seems so much bigger all of a sudden,” Nazar muttered under his breath.
As he was lying down, he felt a portal being opened. He knew who it was. It was Alice.
“Nazar… I did not mean what I said,” Alice said as soon as she came out of the portal.
Nazar laughed.
“You know, I have never been more disappointed in my life, Alice. Never.”
“...”
“No, I am not disappointed that you said that. I am disappointed in myself. To fall for the same thing. Over and over again.”
“You know I didn’t mean what I s--”
“Yes, you did mean it. Why are you trying so hard to pretend it didn’t happen? Why do you care?”
“Huh?”
“You calling me a weapon is nothing new. I don’t know why you pretend like this is the first time.”
Nazar got up.
“I am not sad that you called me a weapon. In fact, I am happy. I am happy that you are finally being truthful with me.”
“Wha-what are--”
“Do you remember the day when my biological mother told me ‘I love you, Nazar... you make a perfect lab rat’?”
Alice nodded.
“And then I basically lost control and the whole facility started to shake. It was on the verge of destruction. And then you came. And you told you two things. One which you said and the other which you didn’t.”
Alice looked at him in confusion.
“You held me tight and told me that everything will be okay and that I could always rely on you.”
Alice nodded.
“But I also remember what you didn’t say… but I heard it anyway.”
“I am… I am conf--”
Nazar did not pay any attention to what Alice was saying.
“I also remember what you thought at that time. Do you remember what you were thinking at that time?”
Alice shook her head.
“Please calm the fuck down before you kill us all, you pathetic creature. Sigh. Why do weapons have to have feelings?”
Alice’s eyes widened.
“That’s what went through your mind. That’s what you were thinking.”
“But--”
“All this time, I wanted to believe you didn’t mean it. And then you came back and I thought you probably did not think the same anymore… But then today happened. And I found out that you actually meant it.”
Nazar sighed.
“You know, I don’t hate you for thinking like that. I am a weapon...”
Nazar placed his hand on her shoulder.
“But so are you. We are both weapons. We are both meant to be used as tools. So, there is no hard feelings between us.”
Nazar smiled.
And then Alice vanished into thin air.
She appeared in hell once more and she could not go back.
Back on Earth, Nazar took a deep breath.
“Damn it!”
He lied down on the sofa and closed his eyes.
He touched his head and he was asleep.

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.
