《New Life》Chapter 155 - God's Plan (Part 2)

Sunday, 20th of October 2019 - approximately 500,000 miles away from Earth:
A massive explosion occurred.
The explosion happened because massive energy beams collided with meteors that were heading towards Earth.
This celestial view looked magnificent.
Bright lights shining in the middle of a dark space.
Eddie started to relax a little.
Solace was an AI but even though she looked like she was relaxed.
“The planet buster is definitely something,” Eddie looked happy.
“Yea--”
Solace trailed off.
She started analysing the explosion before her.
“Damn it.”
“Huh? What happened?”
“It did not work. It was completely useless.”
“WHAT?!”
Solace teleported herself and Eddie with her.
They both appeared above the Mount Everest.
“It didn’t work?!”
Eddie was almost shouting.
“Did a magic circle appeared before your shot the beam?”
Hearing Raj’s question, Eddie went silent.
He started feeling embarrassed and guilty.
“Uh… No?”
He started scratching the back of his head.
“Hehe… my bad?”
“Damn it!”
Solace redid her calculations.
“Try it from here. Under your own magic.”
“Okay?”
“We need to be sure you can do it.”
“But that would waste unnecessary mana,” Raj said.
“I will restore it for him.”
“Oh...”
Eddie started his spell.
He first drew a magic circle on the ground.
Once he drew the magic circle, he removed the armour.
Once it was fully removed, he cut part of his hand.
As the blood fell to the magic circle, it lit up with red magical energies.
The magic circle started to float and grow bigger.
“Woah! What is happening?”
“You did not draw the magic circle before, did you?”
Eddie shook his head.
Raj sighed.
“The energies… its stronger than before,” Solace looked up at the magic circle.
“Now start the spell.”
Eddie nodded.
He closes his eyes and thought about the spell.
The magic circle was getting bigger and bigger.
It was getting higher and higher.
After 1 minute, the magic circle was now 100 miles above the ground and it covered one side of the whole planet.
Within the massive magic circle, smaller ones appeared.
Between the smaller ones, even small ones appeared.
In less than five seconds, there was no space between the magic circles.
Eddie wanted to look at this glorious light above the earth but he could no longer waste any time.
“Do it!”
Eddie finalised the spell.
He unleashed all of his energies.
And then it happened.
The massive magic circle started to rotate.
The massive magic circle above the earth lit up with bright white light.
Then it shot it towards the meteor shower like a beam.
“It’s stronger than before,” Solace said.
The beam moved nearly 500,000 miles in less than a second.

And…
BOOM!!
Even in the dead of space, it made noise.
Solace could hear it all the way down here.
And so could Eddie.
He can see the future but for now, that power of his is not working. And it has been like this for a week.
He does not know why.
And neither does Solace.
“Did it work?”
Solace kept looking up.
She responded five seconds later.
“No,” Solace replied immediately. “It was completely useless.”
“Damn it.”
She held her hand towards Eddie and his energies were back to normal.
“If you can use his powers then why not do it yourself.”
“I tried. Something is wrong with that meteor.”
“What do you mean?”
“I should have told you this earlier...”
Solace’s voice could not be heard by anyone.
Not even Eddie.
“It doesn’t work. I destroyed it once but it came back. I thought if you try it - since you are different and all - but it was still useless.”
“WHAT?!”
“Sorry. But I had to try it with different power.”
“Shit!”
He slammed his foot into the ground.
Though he did not use all of his strength.
And if he did, the mountain beneath them would have been damaged.
Eddie took a deep breath.
“You can use all of his powers, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you can get any power you want? Like him?”
“No. I can only access the powers he has. But it is limited. He has limited my access to his powers.”
“Aaahh!! This guy is the worst. Where the fuck is he anyway?”
“I don’t know.”
“DAMN IT!”
“I will leave now.”
“Where are you going?”
“I need to find him.”
“And how will you do that?”
“I… don’t know.”
She waved her hand and Rak teleported out.
She then teleported out Eddie.
Screens appeared all around her once more.
She kept on searching for his energy signature.
She should be able to find it anywhere in the multiverse, but for some reasons, she cannot find him now.
“Last time we were at the centre of the universe. I need to go there.”
She created a barrier around the planet.
But she knew it was useless.
Everything she threw at it was useless.
On one screen, the battle from the other day was playing.
She pinpointed the exact location of where Arosus was.
“I hope I can find him there.”
The screens vanished.
“But… if I can’t do anything or anyone else… Will he really be able to do it?”
She then vanished into thin air.
Less than a second later, she appeared at the centre of the universe.
However, Nazar was not there.
“Welcome to the centre of the universe, Solace.”

She heard a voice.
A powerful voice that came from many directions.
She knew who it belonged to.
So, she turned on her offensive mode.
“Don’t be alarmed, I am a friend.”
“...!!”
Her plan was to leave this place immediately if he attacked her.
But.
“I am no longer mad with power.”
“Oh?”
Arosus took his human form.
He looked like Nazar earlier but now he looked different.
“Why do you have the same shape, size and face as Nazar? Your bone structure is the same as well.”
He had white hair now, pale white skin and red eyes. His hair was messy. And his build was exactly like Nazar.
They had the exact same height, weight and width.
Even his face looked a lot like Nazar.
But the colour of his skin was different.
Arosus looked like someone who has never been exposed to the sun before.
However, that was not the case with him.
He did this because he just wanted to look different from Nazar.
But he did not notice that his face looked exactly like Nazar.
“Ah?”
“I said why are your body features the same as Nazar?”
“Damn it.”
Arosus took his real form which was the same as Nazar.
Solace became alarmed.
“Nameless One?”
Arosus shook his head.
He was also waving his hands in front of him.
“Oh, no, no, no. I am not him. I am… it’s complicated.”
A lot of questions went through her head.
She thought that he had killed Nazar and took over his body. Or he has somehow replaced Nazar. But how? And why? And when?
She wanted to be sure.
But does she have time?
But at the same time, she needs answers. And this might help her find Nazar.
“I have time. Tell me.”
Arosus took a deep breath.
“I am his creation.”
Solace looked surprised.
She knew that Nazar would never use those kinds of powers.
She knew that he did not want to be a god.
So, why did he create him?
Why would he do that?
“I was created to contain his power and knowledge.”
“Huh?”
Arosus sighed.
He then told her everything.
From the start until this moment.
“Oh...”
“I know its too much to take in but this is what happened.”
“I see… So, where is he?”
“He is at the edge of the universe. He is… not sure how to take all this in.”
“Okay. Can you send me there?”
Arosus nodded and he teleported her.
She appeared at the edge of the universe.
And saw him there.
Earth - United Arab Emirates:
There was a summit.
There was a representative from every country in this summit.
They were sitting around in an assembly.
One person was standing at the front of all of them.
“We need to make a decision,” the representative of the US said. “The world will end in less than a day. And there is nothing we can do. So, do we tell the people? Or do we keep it to ourselves?”
“The people need to know.”
“No, we need to tell them. They need to know.”
“Then they will think of us as nothing but incompetent.”
“”
“”
The chatter in the assembly continued.
They were not listening to each other.
They had found out about the death of most of the planet, so they were in a little shock.
“Damn it,” the representative of the US muttered under his breath.
“We need to tell the world,” the representative of the UAE said.
“I know… but--”
“Knowing it… they will say their goodbyes to their loved ones.”
“Yeah...”
“Which is why I already did it.”
“Huh? What did you do?”
“I told the world.”
“...!”
The representative of the US was surprised.
He did not think anyone would tell the world before everyone in the assembly voted.
The voting was still left.
“Wh-When?”
“35 seconds ago. I sent an email to the biggest news sources on the planet. Like BBC, CCN, Fox, Al Jazeera and more.”
Cold sweat poured down on the US representative’s face.
His throat went dry.
He took a sip of the water.
“Oh boy… I will be in so much trouble. The POTUS told me specifically to wait for the voting to finish and then do it.”
“America is not being destroyed… Our countries are.”
The US representative did not know how to reply to that question.
“Why does America have to make a decision when we are the ones who are dying?”
“...”
“Yes, it affects the world that will be left behind… But today, we are dying.”
“Oh...”
In the outside world, everyone found out.
The world found out what will happen to it soon.
And thus, a world-level crisis begun.
It started with simple panic.
But it escalated quickly.
A lot of people did the unthinkable.
They started breaking into the shops.
They started breaking into people’s houses.
They started committing every form of crime.
For what reason?
They are about to die.
So, what good does stealing do?
No one asked themselves that question.
No one tried to save themselves.
No one tried to save someone else.
The biggest loss in human history is about to happen.
But…
But most people don’t care.
Billions will die... because a mad God willed it.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
