《Programming in Another World》Chapter 5 - The Programmer's First Real Battle

Unlike slimes, goblins are short humanized entities that can wield weapons and can work in a group with one another. I have heard a saying that if you see one of them, you'll typically see many since they are weaker on their own, especially in areas where monsters are concentrated, but those were in manga and games.
In the real world, they could work differently. For one, there is only one goblin at me, and I don't see any others. Hopefully, it says that way... I don't think I'll be able to kill an endless number of goblins as I can barely do with slimes.
"Aggggrua!"
The goblin made a disgusted sound and charges at me with some speed. It took it no time to reach me. About a meter apart, the goblin grabs hold of its club tightly and then swings it down at me. I quickly jump backward and duck to avoid the club. Lucky for me, I got out of the club's path in time, but that only angers the goblin more...
It once again charges towards me, trying to hit me with its club. With only rock at my deposit, I continue dodging the goblin's attacks. After about a minute of running around, the goblin howls and begins swinging his club wildly.
This time, as I attempt to dodge his attack, he changes expressions and aims for my leg, successfully landing a hit. Since he changed attacks, the power that he used is less than it would have been if he struck me earlier; however, it still hurts like a bee sting.
With my leg hurting, my agility and speed decrease dramatically. The goblin laughs and charges at me for the last time. Having no other options, I take a chance and grab ahold of my rock and charged thrust-first at the goblin.
Thankfully, my charge was fast enough to dodge his club, allowing me to get my attack off of him. I pierce the Goblin's skin with the rock near where a human's heart would be on the goblin's chest.
"Acka!?"
I back away as the goblin screams in agony. Still, that wasn't enough to kill him. Unlike slimes, I have to damage him overtime since piercing his core would be impossible to do. As the goblin screams, he drops his club and rests both hands on his chest. His eyes slowly turn red, and his anger builds.
Seeing an opening, I rushed him and traded the tock with the club. Holding the club tightly, I take swings at the goblin, smashing the club against its heads. Green body fluid flies away from the goblin's head. He continues to scream and making weird noises.
After about a minute of swinging and listening to screaming, the goblin's voice subsides, and his body goes limp. Out of breath, I slowly bring the green-covered club above my head, showing a victory pose. I then collapse onto the grass, slowly getting my energy back.
"Hu hu hu... That wasn't fun..."
I slowly close my eyes, and I continue to breathe for air and relax. Sadly, as I relax, I hear the rustling of leaves again. I instantly open my eyes and look in the direction of the noise.

"No!"
"Graw!"
"Grawl!"
"Graw!"
Not one, nor two, but three goblins appear! It seems the first goblin was in a group of four but thought that it could kill me without any help. I guess what they say about goblins is true... I'll refrain from finding them from now on.
I jump up and prepare my club. That said, due to my injury on my leg, my movements have become duller. Nevertheless, I watch diligently and prepare myself to dodge.
"Garwa!"
One of the goblins, who looks to be the group leader, yells at the others, which they both nod. Then, all three of the goblins charge at me with clubs in hand.
I gulp as I watch the goblins come near. Fear runs throughout my body, now unable to move. I watch as death comes near.
NO! I will not die again! I... I can win somehow! There must be some way...
The three goblins come closer while swinging their clubs as I face my future demise. Then, I remember the program I created a little bit ago...
It's do-or-die time, I guess. I hope this works!
"Switch X!!!"
I shout out the command that I set for the program. Unlike before, I could feel my body change as if I got a tad bit stronger. With this newfound strength, I feel like I can survive and win this fight.
"Ahh!"
With my fear gone, or maybe with newfound craziness, I charge the group with my club and swiftly swing it to each of their heads while trying to avoid the goblin's clubs.
I continued swinging my club and dodging for what felt like hours. Eventually, all three of the new goblins have fallen and are now considered dead. They got many hits on me too. Therefore, I also fall, collapsing in pain.
"Ugh... Ha..."
I take a couple of breaths and then thank the gods for my survival. With no stamina left, I fell to my back and stared up in the sky. As I do, a bell rings within my head. A window appears too...
You have leveled up! Your WP has increased by one. MP capacity and restoration increase by 30%. You have also unlocked a new package or import -> others. A new tab has been created in your help menu called Packaging Help. Refer to it if you have any questions.
"H-huh?!"
I l-leveled up? I have killed many monsters. Even if they were only slimes, the amount that I have killed should have gotten me to level two, but no... It required me to have killed four goblins, monsters that I assume to be tier two monsters.
Due to my current state, I decided to use the time to continue reading the help menu. I activate my power and maneuver over to the help section. I then looked for the new tab that was added.
Greetings once again. I have noticed that you leveled up for your first time, so I decided to write this helpful page for you! Although you leveled up the same day you were brought here, you should know that it should have been impossible to do so.

For the world's civilians, they can level up at the start reasonably quickly after killing a few slimes; however, I had to adjust my power to fit the world's balance. I mean, at the rate you are going, you would be at level 5 or 6, which along with that level of WP, would have been very dangerous, for the other Gods, that is...
They don't know about your powers yet, but they are all currently watching you. True, they found it strange at first that you didn't level up after killing all those slimes, but I told them that I increased the threshold for you because of the compromised skill that you 'got.'
Anyway, you're in the clear but be wary; the Gods are always watching...
Oh, and so you know, I made a monster encyclopedia for you on three of your tabs... It has some helpful information, so you should look at it before fighting any other monsters. Good luck!
Hmm... I guess I understand, but I'm still mad that he didn't tell me this beforehand! Anyway, I think I'll read up on those monsters... If it had some helpful information, like how to kill them, I'm going to punch myself for not reading them earlier... Well, maybe not, but I'll be depressed.
I switch tabs and start reading the first tab for the monster encyclopedia.
This world has entities that are called monsters. They are not friendly and are usually seen as a source of evil throughout the world. They can change statuses like everyone else and level up on their own, but they typically stay the level they are when they are born (they can start at any level based on their parents).
Monsters can drop their weapon, clothing, or equipment they are using, allowing the opponent to steal or use their stuff. Once a monster is defeated, you can use its body for food, medicine, or other fun things. Inside their body is their core, which is their life essence and mana location. You can sell them at a guild or use them for magic (Harder for you to use)!
At first, I would give you some of the standard monsters, but I got bored... Therefore, you have most, if not all, of the monsters in this world, including where they are located and how rare they are! You're welcome in advance <3!
That God... Man, I wish I could strangle him right now.
Frustrated, I continued. The rest of the tab begins telling about monsters in alphabetic order. I skipped most of them and searched for the two mobs that I encountered today.
Slimes:
These monsters are oval-shaped beings that can only jump for their movement. They are the weakest monster known globally and can only fight by sucking mana from an object but fusing it (the object goes into the slime's body).
They are common and can be found in the plains. The color of the slimes is based on the biome that they are in. For example, forest plain slimes can be any shade of red, blue, or green.
To kill them, you'll have to destroy their core which can be found in their body, which can not be easily obtained. They range from level 1 to 10. They can drop 0 to 2 MP.
Goblins:
These monsters are humanoid beings but on a smaller scale. They are mostly a shade of green and work with their own kind most of the time. Their main weapon is a club, but they are known to use other advanced weapons like spears or swords.
They are common and can be found on the outskirts of any forest. They attempt to make settlements close to others to attack them once their colony gets big enough. They are only located in warm-ish biomes where wetness, like rain, can be found, like plains or forests.
To kill them, you'll have to do enough damage and slowly lower their health. Their core can be obtained once they die but are typically low in mana and are worthless. They range from level 1 to 30 and can drop 1 to 10 MP.
Interesting... Well, that was some useful information, but I doubt that the fight would have been easier if I knew that information.
Wait, 1 to 10 MP? Right! My MP increased by 30% too! What is it right now?
I switch over tabs to see my status. A smile forms on my face as I find the value...
MP: 80 / 142
Although that might not seem that much higher, any increased amount helps. My program that made is proof of that...
I still have my program on, which I should try not to do since I don't have much mana to waste. That said, before, my physical strength could only reach 25 and stay like that for an entire minute before it would return to five.
Now, my strength reaches 51! Indeed, I couldn't feel any difference in 25 and 5; however, I can feel a tiny difference in 51 and 5. Sadly, I doubt this much is that helpful. It allowed me to defeat those goblins, but I don't think I'll last long without increasing those other stats.
Speaking of which, I can apply the same program to those attributes; however, to have enough mana to keep them at that value for an entire minute, I'll have to lower their values. For instance, I might only increase each of the stats by +5 instead of that +50 like I did for strength...
"Ugh... Alright, I should head out... I'm going to need to find someplace to sleep that's safe."
I nod to myself and slowly get off of the ground. As I do, I hear a loud growl.
Growl!
It came from my stomach... Embarrassed, I try coming up with ideas on how I can get food when my eyes landed on the goblins...
"Oh, God..."
Tears start falling from my eyes as I do what's needed to be done to survive...

A Bloody Game

Having just awoken from a pre-op only to find himself confused and all alone in a changed world and a hospital consumed by chaos he must do all he can to survive. In a new world where society crumbles and laws are merely pretty words on written paper, how will a boy who has been restricted his whole life live now that there is nothing to hold him back? When everything turns into a zero sum game of dog eat dog, they'll find that The Hunter is an all too willing participant, but he will soon find out that he isn't the only player of this game. First story I'm posting and I don't really have a cool synopsis, sorry everyone, but this story is just another LitRPG apocalypse. I guess the only difference is that the main character isn't a hero. He's not here to save the world, he's not here to make friends, and he's definitely not here to save everyone. He's probably what the villains in other similar stories would be actually. Just writing for fun, advice or constructive critism is welcomed, writing style prone to change. Warning: Incredible amounts of poor grammar, Gore, Profanities, Traumatizing content, and cliches(I plan to have multiple main characters, maybe this is too ambitious for my poor skills, but it seems like it would be fun to try, the other MCs won't show up until later on.) The cover image isn't mine I just found it online. It's a piece by Stephanie Frey This takes inspiration from a lot of great stories on here, but I find the beginning to be most similar to Blood Lust by DefinitelyNotJormlung. Starcraft and Warhammer 40k and survival world rpg by S_Conary will also influenced this (at least that's my plan if I ever get that far or finish this) Also please stay with me until chapter 3. I suck at starting stories, but have been told I get better as I'm further along.

The Black Lord's Promise
It is said that the path to hell is paved with good intentions. Perhaps this does not matter if the world itself is corrupt. Change, then, is to be feared only by those who are themselves corrupt. The first chapter is an extended prologue that sets the scene of a riparian frontier of an alternate world, somewhere between medieval and the pre-industrial age, during an era of turmoil and possibility. A mysterious man is summoned to bring forth a new kingdom, but does he bring hope or calamity?
