Author note: I tried making it anonymous who was in this chapter. Is it easy enough to figure out who it was? I hesitant to show who it was at the end so i leave it anonymous for now. I might edit it later.
Yup i skipped the heartwarming, encouraging part that should be there. Why? i'm not a inspirational person....... Joke aside. It would be a hassle to cover all of the character thought. I might add it later but, not for now. It will only make the opening part longer. i predict it will be more than 3k and almost 5k words.
Ah, and i also might skip the battle scene after this depend on whatever it was clear who it was or not. Enjoy
Night, it was the time when moon replace the sun in the sky and the time where people fell into deep sleep.
Tonight, the moon was in full moon with clear sky. The illumination entered the gap of the building that was made of wood making some of the hallway visible.
If you close your eyes and focus on your hearing you can hear the sound of cricket and other insect. Tonight was such silent night.
However in the inn where the heroes stay a crying voices and the sound of people talking can be heard.
Some in a room, some in the hallway, some at the back of the inn, and some at the bar below.
Man, female, children, adults, that night, everyone were unable to sleep.
That was an unavoidable thing. Because today too many things had happen to them, when they close their eyes, they were force to be reminded of the event that happened today.
The things about meteor fell. The things about them survived. The things about this world. The things about Asche. The things about their future.
Night was also the time they reviewed the event today. Except the one that in the cocoon everyone was awake.
From the room that was already prepared for them one by one got out from there. They wandered around for a while until they settled down on the place they liked. Either way no one was asleep.
That night it was as if a ghost was wandering around the inn. The weak hearted heroes were wandering around in search for something that can support them.
Friend, sibling, senior, boyfriend, girlfriend, teacher, anyone was fine. As long that they can become their talking partner anyone will do even if it was a cocoon or adventures they just met today. They just wanted someone that can reduce their heart burden.

Tomorrow they undoubtedly are going to get a black circle under their eyes but, that wasn’t a meaningless thing. In exchange for this sleepless night some of them will be able to face tomorrow on this harsh world. Or that was what most of them were doing.
While the other was preparing for tomorrow, in this silent and sleepless night there was someone who was having a mid-night rendezvous.
That person was called out with a piece of paper at dinner. Before anyone noticed there was a paper containing message beneath that person plate.
Because it was given to him in secret, he also silently put it on his pocket and planned to read it when he was alone.
At first that person was worried when he received that paper because he feared that he can’t read it because of the language barrier. However when he read it, it turned out that on the words was written in English.
The message was simple.
“Midnight, entrance of the forest. Don’t come, kill.”
It was so easy to understand that the person who read it let out a sigh.
In that person’s life it wasn’t the first time such message came to him. In the past there were numerous invitations that were aimed at him because of what he did. There were so many candidates that it was impossible for him to figure out who and why it was send to him.
Nevertheless that person had no choice but to go along with the letter because he hates involving by stander.
That person waited until mid-night before he got out from the room. To be honest that person was slightly surprised to see many other were loitering around the inn at this hour. At first he thought that this was planned by the sender
Unlike the other that person wasn’t shaken that much from the whole event.
That person life was already extraordinary, so a strange thing or two won’t bother him anymore. If he had to say it he thought that this would be convenient to him.
A chance to start a fresh life.
Although this world was more dangerous he was fine with it because it solved most of the annoying things.
That person went down and headed toward the entrance. He noticed that the door wasn’t locked with the big thick wood that was supposed to hang on the door.
He pulled the door and it opened with a creak sound. He closed the door and got out from the inn to head toward the forest.
On his way he noticed that a handsome blonde man also went outside.

Maybe it was him, thought that man.
However the handsome man wasn’t headed toward the forest but to the opposite direction. He went outside from the village and walked toward the place where there was black circle mark on the ground.
He also saw a short girl with dyed yellow hair, and the girl with long brown hair that had some of it braid to her shoulder near the black road that Asche made.
Because it wasn’t his business he ignored them and went passed them without them noticing. The man finally reached toward the place where he thought was the entrance of the forest.
There wasn’t anyone there.
There wasn’t any clock at the inn. So he depends on his internal clock to know when is mid-night.
Maybe it was messed up because of the time different, thought the man.
Then he noticed the fresh footmark on the ground. With that he was convinced that someone was definitely inside the forest.
Although he wanted to retort that it was different than the message, he thought it was it can’t be helped. The sender definitely didn’t think that many would loiter around this late.
That person then followed the footstep and entered the forest while erasing both his and the sender’s footstep just in case.
He entered deeper into the forest. Of course the deeper he entered the forest it also reduce the light he received. His vision gradually became darker and darker because of the lack of light. He also can hear the cry of a beast from within the forest.
He let the light that passed through the gap in the leaf guided him deeper into the forest. After around five minutes he finally reached his destination.
There was someone beside him this deep in the forest at night. The place he stopped his feet was at a slightly open space in the forest. That’s why the light also better and he can see who was there.
It was the hooded woman from Ein’s party. That fact made him confused and he titled his head to the side.
“I know you’re there. Show yourself.”
The hooded woman called out to him. But, he refused and stayed in the darkness of the forest with the reason that it calmed him.
“Fine then. Let’s end this quickly.”
The woman pulled her hood back revealing her long silky blonde hair. The moon light illuminated her hair making it look like it was shining together in this night with starry star. However that wasn’t what that person was
looking at.
Instead of her hair, that person was more focused on her ear. Long point ear that almost twice of human’s size. That person had a basic knowledge about game and fantasy themed books so he immediately realized the identity of that woman.
Elf. A forest creature that have high intelligent and the protector of nature. The common characteristic of it was their beautiful blonde hair, well-shaped body, long ears, and their eternal youth face. They was a like a hybrid of human with a fairy or goddess of beauty.
“What is your objective?”
He was silent. Not because he didn’t want to answer her but, because he doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
“So you choose silent. I have no choice.”
The elf looked toward the place where that person hide and muttered.
“Wind Blade.”
The wind around her changed and together with that the air was filled with killing intent. That person immediately sensed that and moved to the nearby tree to cover himself. A second later there was a large slash mark on
the place he was before.
He looked into the damaged ground while still keep his guard toward her. Around one meter slash mark was made there, and the wide was around five centimeters. Judging from the mark on the ground he knew that it was incredibly sharp.
Before he can analyzed it further the next attack already went toward him. The next attack cut the tree he was in, leaving him vulnerable to her invisible blade.
Right now the choice to talk about it doesn’t exist. Although he felt that there was misunderstand between them he had no choice but to fight her back. At this point he also felt that he was as expected unlucky.
He pulled out the fork he took at dinner and jumped to the air.
At the place he was before two slash marks was made that will split his body to four pieces if he was hit by it.
He finally got out from the shadow of the forest and showed his figure while he was in the air.
The moonlight reflected his fork and his sharp eyes. With the moon on his back his figure was like hunting bird that was about to hunt it prey and the smile on his face made it as if there was a crescent moon on the sky.
She who saw his smile immediately send her invisible blade toward him and the fight between the elf and that person begin.
In this silent night where the other was bracing themselves for tomorrows, two people were fighting in the deep forest.

None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
