The next day

After yesterday's party, the maids at the house were given a day off by dad, my family activities for the day were suspended as well, so today we can have some family time.

Right now all of us are in the living room hearing mom telling another story about hero.

Cecilica listened to the story with excitement showed in her face., while both me and Lyle struggling with the boredo. I'm not really sure if that's the case with Lyle, but I'm pretty sure that he didn't like the story like me.

Dad on the other hand slept after 2 minutes hearing the story. The look in mom face when he does that… it's scary.

To occupy myself I start practicing magic. No, not the flashy one like creating a fireball, it's just circulating mana, spread out thin armor, and lift things with . I'm suprised that no one found out about it.

After mom finished telling the story, she wakes dad up with a frightening voice it makes me scared, but even with that dad didn't woke up, instead he started to talk in his sleep about some girl.

Hearing that moom was furious! She pinch dad nose, and when dad wokes up she begin to slap him over, and over again until his face became red.

Me,Lyle, and even Cecilica became speechless, or rather we were afraid if we talk even the slightest we will receive the same thing, seriously what is she thinking showing this to her children.

Since i can’t and don’t want to help dad,in exchange for that I pray that dad face will be normal again.

After series of consecutive slaps, mom eventually stop and prepare for lunch dad's face looks like he were hit a 1000 times. His face is all red now, and there's some bruises on his cheek.

I pity him, I really do. As proof I approach him and pat his swollen cheek. This may look ridiculous but it's really the best thing i can do for now.

Lyle, and Cecilica follow what I did, and comfort dad. He started to cry all of the sudden while we did this, honestly I'm pretty surprise. I mean would a grown man cry in front of a child? Well I do know a person with silver hair will probably do that though.

Soon after mom called out for us and tells us that the food is ready. Dad wiping his tears, picked me up and with dad leading we went to the dining room.

The lunch that mom made is a little bit… nasty. Okay I'm kidding it's totally nasty, all I see are black meat.

“Umm.. Honey. What's this?” (Ferlike)

“Oh that? It's my special grill meat.” (Cecilia)

Seriously? I thought it was poisoned because of the black colour and the ominous aura. Yeah, ominous aura I can't believe that food can have it must be one of those cursed chefs foods.

You know the legendary people who no matter how much effort they put in cooking, all of the foods they make will turn black just by heating it. I can't believe that mom is one of those many people.

“i-is that so? Then here I go.”(Ferlike)

Dad bravely cut the meat with a knife, and then eat it. His hands were trembling as he did that, and incidentally so did I. I mean I know I wouldn't eat that unless I have no choice.

As soon as the meat enters dad's mouth, I can see that it was so bad that he wants to puke but couldn't. Fight on dad! Fight on!

Lyle, and Cecilica stare blanky at the food. They're probably thinking what will they do about the food. Good thing I'm still drinking milk, otherwise I'll have the same trouble as they are having now.

Well this is the first time I'm happy that I'm still drinking milk, I mean between the cursed food and milk? Of course I'll choose milk, unless that milk is cursed too.

A minute has passed and dad has finally finish swallowing the meat. I know it's slow, but who could blame him? He just ate the legendary cursed food!

“I think I'm gonna puke.” (Ferlike)

“What was that dear?” (Cecilia)

“N-nothing I was just saying how tasty it is.” (Ferlike)

Congratulations dad! You just raised the bad event flag!

Lyle who heard what dad just say takes full advantage of it, and started to talk.

“Mother, I'm still full from the cake yesterday. Is it alright for me to give my share to father?” (Lyle)

Father face quickly darkened as he hear Lyle's words. Cecilica catching up to the conversation also took the advantage.

“Me too! I'm so full, I think I'm going to explode!” (Cecilica)

Dad's face once again darkened as he hear Cecilica’s words. Mom think gir a while and after a few moments she nod and talk.

“If both of you are really full then it's okay, and since both of you are leaving the table can you take care of your little brother for a while?”(Cecilia)

“Yes!” (Cecilica)

“Of course.”(Lyle)

Both of them answer her, and with mom nodding her head she let Lyle carry me and we left the table.

While we're leaving I can see dad's face getting grimmer and grimmer as we leave. His look is so grim as if saying “don't leave me!” As we leave.

For your bravery against the treacherous food I shall pray so you can survive and eat delicious foods afterwards. And if fate forbidden you to taste something good afterwards, well tough luck for you then.

Me who was being carried by Lyle, and Cecilica who is following us, the 3 of us humming a song as we go.

We went to Lyle's room, and the room is actually different from what I though it would've be.

The room was clean, and tidy. The books on the shelf are sort out according to the titles, and the author of the books.

On the desk are a bunch of papers who I know what it is for piled tidily, with a quill and an ink beside them.

The bed is tidy, and I see the chair and table are organise, and there's no trash in here too. The more I look around the more I think that this room is for girls.

“Brother let me carry Allen!”(Cecilica)

“Okay, but make sure you don't drop him.” (Lyle)

“Yes.” (Cecilica)

She hand me over to Cecilica, and took out a book from his shelf. Cecilica curious about the book decided to ask.

“Brother what is that books about?”(Cecilica)

“Oh this? It's a story book that I'll be reading for today.” (Lyle)

Cecilica tilted her head and ask “Brother will read book, and tell story?”

Lyle nod and say “Mother always does this doesn't she?”. Seeing Cecilica nod, he open the book and start reading

The story is about a princess who live happily ever after. Of course I'm bored hearing that, and so does Cecilica. Only Lyle is the one who shows excitement.

After the story finished Cecilica ask Lyle to read another book about hero and stuff. Lyle who seems like he's weak to her sister start reading it.

The day passed with Lyle telling us story. In the middle of it mom and dad also came in to the room.

Dad had a face that looks like he had just face a torture. In fact I can see he's skinnier than before, must be the effect of the curse food.

Mom took over when Lyle finished telling the 4th story. She tells us another story as time pass. Before I knew it it was already night.

Even with a single day spent like this, I was happy all of us are. Some family time isn't so bad, I'm looking forward for the next one.

I'm not sure if this a real chapter or not because of how the story is, so I'm just going to put this as a side story.
