《The Endless War》Chapter 23: To The Castle!

“What… why am I staring at the ground…?” One of the foul Basilisk whispered softly, his eyes lifeless now that it was disconnected from its body. The only thing its eyes were able to pick up was the endless sea of sands as it lied there dying in a trail of blood.
Blood gushed out of the limbs of the snakes like a hose spraying water over the immediate area. Their tainted red blood stained the warm brown sands and soon their bodies would follow as its strength left it.
In one sudden motion, they collapsed onto the bed of sand, pressurized blood still shooting out from the limbs that were forcefully removed by those wires from the Prince of Ingrann. They were sharper than modern day blades if they were able to cleanly remove bone, tendons and muscle tissue.
Going against the normal laws that upheld Terra was magic’s game with it people could use it to achieve almost anything. After all the greater your mana and your potential for magic the more things you could get away with.
“There… that’s taken care of now.” Lamont muttered carelessly. He didn’t seem the least bit bothered by the execution he delivered to his kin. His attention soon returning to the group of humans that his father had a relationship with.
“Thank you for your help, Lamont. But, I’m afraid we’ll need to ask another favor of you.” Jace asked politely.
“What else do you need of me?” The prince asked curiously.
“One of my troops was bitten and now the poison is quickly killing him. Is there an antidote on you by chance?”
“Bring the boy to me, Captain Jace. I’ll be able to absorb the poison, but the effects of it will linger.” Lamont turned his attention to the vehicle.

It was worth a shot with how quickly the venom was spreading throughout his body. This venom was killing him from the inside and soon he would enter into a coma-like state. This was the main method for them to find food and weaken their enemies. It’s what made them so dangerous to the others.
Everyone pretty much figured that Noel was the weakest link of the group. He showed the least amount of promise out of the squad and was simply leaning on his parent’s status. His reasoning for joining Seer was unclear and by this point why did he even consider it?
Lamont had Jace rest the boy on his back against the sand, grabbing ahold of his right arm. He didn’t waste any time going in to sink his teeth into the boy’s soft flesh much like a vampire sinking their teeth into its victim.
Of course, everyone watching was alarmed by this and in the back of their mind, they wondered if he was actually trying to finish their comrade off for good.
Yadon’s hand fidgeted nervously as he watched someone whom he was just meeting for the first time sink their teeth into his friend as if he was just some kind of chicken dinner. “Hey Jace, you sure we can trust this guy? This could all be a trap you know.”
“I’ve known Lamont for some time. He’s as trustworthy as they come. Noel is in good hands.” Jace confirms.
Isaac looked on between the two, but his attention quickly returned to Noel who was completely out of it. Right now he was powerless to do anything but watch. Hoping that this same ruthless man could bring their friend back from the verge of death.
Lamont ignored everyone around him and focused purely on the boy that he was biting. Although he opened up his skin enough to cause some bleeding his main intention was allowing his fangs to enter his bloodstream.

That way he could focus a bit of his mana into the tips of his fangs. This allowed them to act as something of a magnet attracting just the venom that was circulating around his body. Basilisks were well versed with their venoms and although it was unheard of Lamont figured he should be able to absorb the venom back into his fangs.
Still, this would take some time as there was quite a lot of this in his system. It was a surprise he was still able to breathe. If they hadn’t run into him then the boy would have surely died. In just a few minutes the prince confirmed that all of the venom was removed, however…
“Your friend is going to be weak for a while. I suggest drinking plenty of fluids, eating light foods, and plenty of rest while he recovers. If you didn’t have business with us I would want you all to take him back now.” Lamont instructed.
“He’s going to live? That’s great! Man, he had me spooked for a moment!” Yadon cheered loudly.
“Don’t get too excited this mission is far from over. We could be attacked again.” Keianna shook her head.
“You don’t have to worry about being attacked again. I’ll accompany you to the castle. Normally even the most hostile Basilisks wouldn’t dare attack humans under the presence of an Ingram.”
“What if they’re as stubborn as these guys?” Claire pointed out, not trying to look at the deceased bodies that would soon be devoured by the sands.
“Then they’ll meet the same fate.” Lamont put it bluntly before taking a stand. “Anyways, we should head for the kingdom. My father will give you all a warm welcome and offer refreshments.”
“That’s the kind of welcome I’m talking about! Let’s hit the long dusty trails then fellas!” Yadon signaled for everyone to get back inside of the truck as he made sure he was the first.
“Okay, we’ll head on over, but you guys are going to have to make room. There’s only room for six.” Jace reminded.
“It’s all right, Isaac can sit on my lap. He’s about the same size as the girls.” Yadon started to laugh.
“Hey, why does it have to be me?” Isaac frowned not wanting to have to sit on a big, sweaty guy’s lap in a tight truck.
“I’m a committed man, so I couldn’t live with myself if I had either Claire or Keianna sit on my lap. Two lovely ladies… I don’t think I could restrain myself before we reached the castle.”
“Disgusting pig… I’d walk to the castle before I did that!” Keianna muttered with disgust just thinking about the foul imagery.
“No… comment,” Claire said bluntly.
“I’m just being honest. But, now do you understand Isaac? Come to think of it… you could easily go for a girl too. To me, you possess a lot of feminine qualities.” Yadon narrowed his eyes at the blond boy.
“What!? I do not! And I’m not sitting on your lap! There has to be another way!” Isaac complained.
“Isaac just sit in his lap. It’s not going to kill you.” Jace said slightly annoyed.
“But!? Oh, whatever, fine. I just hope this isn’t a long drive.” Isaac sighed.
