It has been a week since I lost everything. Crow told me she was going to teach me how to actually use magic instead of just trowing around mana like I have been doing. During our travel she told me a lot about the system of the gods.
The most import thing she told me was that there are around a million gods. Actually they aren't really gods, they are just creatures with an insanely strong soul core which gives them enormous power and immortality. Well they can be killed but the only way to do so is by removing or destroying their soul core or their soul essence, the soul part in the brain.
Normally the gods that govern worlds like this are actually the outcasts and weaklings of the society who most of the time don't belong to any bigger faction, this is also the reason why this world only has six gods. Of course there are exceptions.
Apparently the god from earth was actually strong enough to kick out all the other gods. The chance of a mortal reaching godhood in such a 'lesser' world are extremely slim. Maybe every hundred years there will be a mortal that reaches godhood in one of the thousands of lesser worlds.
The strongest of the gods creating something called the Gathering. The Gathering decides everything. They decide which god gets assigned to which planet and are also the judges of the gods. Crow also told me that they are extremely corrupt and don't care about mortals at all. The only time a god gets punished is when they try to go against the Gathering. She also told me that there are three big factions in the council but she didn't really explain those and when I asked why not she just said that it don’t matter as long as I have not reached Godhood yet.
She also explained about the twelve major worlds. The stronger gods live in these so called 'major worlds'. These worlds are way bigger then this world or my old world and therefore have tons of gods. In the society of gods the bigger world you are assigned to the more important you are. There are twelve so called major worlds and each of them has ninety nine normal gods in them and one overseer who is an important person in the Gathering. Every of the three big factions of the Gathering only has Three overseers. So one can imagine how important they are. This means that the Gathering controls nine of the major worlds. The remaining three major worlds are governed by alliances of smaller organizations or by an insanely powerful god.

She also told me how one can reach godhood. The most common way to reach godhood is to grow a soul core that is strong enough.
The way of doing this is by cultivating the soul core. The problem with this way is that the manuals on how to cultivate it can only be found in the major worlds. This is also the reason why many gods want to govern such a world. That way they can recruit potential gods or remove future troubles early on. Well I make it sound like reaching godhood is simple with such manuals but it still requires enormous amounts of luck and talent. Maybe every few years a god is born in one of those worlds.
Another way is to gain enough understanding in the laws of the universe. The chances of one gaining this understanding are almost nonexistent.
Crow told me that the only way for me to reach godhood is by consuming other cores. Since my soul core is pretty messed up I first need to stabilize by devouring normal soul cores then I need to consume hero soul cores, the soul cores granted by the gods of a world to each of their chosen ones in order to increase their power. I need to do so until I reach the peak of what a mortal can possibly reach. After that I need to absorb a God soul core. That is the biggest hurdle since I will need to kill a God while I am still a mortal. Oh and I so know who's core I am gonna eat when I reach that stage. Heard that death god take good care of your core for me.
You would think that there would be millions of gods by now. But apparently they have the habit of waging war with each other resulting in the yearly deaths of gods.
“Crow when are we finally arriving I have been walking for days.”
“Soon.” -crow
“You have been saying that for two days already.”

“Yes but this time we are but a few minutes away” -crow
“Really? But there aren’t any city's or towns nearby.”
“When did I say we where going to a city or town?” -crow
“Well you said you where going to teach me how to use my powers.”
“Think about it I am going to teach you death magic.” -crow
“So?”
“Are you stupid or are you just acting stupid.” -crow
“Dammit crow are you gonna tell me or not.”
“Fine, the reason is simple if you fuck up then you won't drag a whole city with you into the grave.” -crow
“Ohh makes sense........Wait dragged into my grave?”
“Yeah learning death magic comes with great danger.” -crow
“And you could not have told me this beforehand?”
“Does it matter if you don't train in it you will die.” -crow
“Fair argument.”
…...............
After a few minutes we enter a plains with a length of something of a two hundred meters and the width of a hundred fifty meters, located in the middle of forest that based on the height of the trees should be an ancient forest that has stood here for thousands of years.
“We have arrived, now that we are in the forest I will release your death aura I have been keeping under control.” -crow
As she says this I can feel a dark energy gushing out from me. I can literately feel my life force leaving my body. Her releasing my aura also forced my horns and tail out. Ever since that incident one of my eyes turned crimson but the other is still golden. The problem with this is that I can not mask the crimson eye so I have to wear an eye patch in public.
I desperately cry out:“CROW, I am gonna die like this do something.”
“You will be fine. Learn to control your aura for now for that is the first step thing every death mage must learn. It is almost the same as controlling mana. Looking from your aura I can see that you have around two years before you die if you keep letting it gush out like that. Have fun I will be gone for some time.”-crow
“CROW COME BACK HERE!”
And she is gone. Well lets just sit down and try to get a feel for this. Luckily I don't need sleep or food. Crow told me it had something to do with being both dead and alive. Well lets see how this is gonna work. I can feel it a bit. I guess you could say that my aura is the same as mana like she said but at the same time it feels so different. Well I should be able to control it just like I control mana. This can't be that hard.
I try to retract my death aura that has spread into a circle of a few hundred meters around me. As I focus I notice that my aura is eating away the plants that it touches. I can feel the life energy of the plants being consumed by my aura. I think that if this takes to long to master that the forest will have a big problem.
After painstakingly trying to retract it for a few hours I was able to retract it a single meter.
“Well this is gonna be fun.”
