《The Epic of Gaia》Chapter 14: The Time I Woke The Prisoner
Advertisement
No way, could it be?
Was she the prisoner?
There were pulsating blue lines along the floor that also wrapped around the walls.
They started out under the coffin and seemed to end going up in to the ceiling.
This looks like some kind of elaborate magical circuit.
I approached the glass coffin and looked closer.
The pale blue light from this mechanism was the only light showing.
But I could see that she was special.
Somehow, she was still alive despite being submerged in water.
That wasn’t the strange part, it was the fact that she was unconscious and still alive.
She looked to be around the same age as my human form.
But her appearance could only be described as “cold beauty”.
She had pale white skin and long shiny black hair.
A blue veil covered her body and she had airy quality about her.
I could tell that she had a lot of mana just from this appearance alone.
She reminded me of stories of the Fae, an ancient magical race that the elves descended from.
They were also said to have such glowing skin.
No, I was getting distracted.
Well I hope she’s the one, otherwise this would be for nothing.
I raised my fist and shattered the glass.
CRACKKKKKKKK
The glass was pretty thick but it was still no match for me.
I stepped over the shards and started to shake her shoulder.
“Hey are you ok?”
Her eyes slowly opened but she quickly gave me a glare.
She pulled herself away from me and waved her hand.
!?!?
Ugh, she sent me flying back in to the wall.
She had waved her hand and the water on the floor knocked me back.
It looks like she could use ancient magic too.
More powerful beings like me could use ancient magic which was chantless and based more on one’s will.

But she stopped after knocking me back and absorbed all the water in the room.
Next, she turned her body in to water and only a vague female figure could be seen.
She rushed up the stairs after this and easily smashed through the sealed door.
“GAAAHHHHHHH”
“GET IT!!!!”
“RETREAT!! RETREAT!!”
I heard various guards shout upstairs and started to run upstairs.
By the time I got up there, I had my hood on and my sword ready.
There were guards on the floor getting up but the girl was nowhere to be seen.
“HEY YOU STOP!!”
A guard suddenly shouted at me as I walked by him.
“Sleep”
[Air Blast]
I sent several strong winds from my body and knocked every guard close to me away.
I felt a little sorry for them but not enough to not use that spell.
I quickly made my way to the front of the mansion and saw the girl in her aqua form.
She was now very huge and seemed to have been absorbing all the water around her.
CLLLAAANNNGGGGGG
She smashed through the front gates like nothing and continued on.
It looked like she was headed for the lower district.
There’s no telling where she’s going so I had to catch up quick.
I was starting to fall in to dangerously low levels of mana right now, so using magic intensively was not a choice.
I looked around and saw some guards starting to ride out.
Hmm, I could use this to my advantage.
[Air Shot]
“AAHHHH”
I knocked one off a horse and took it while they were helping their comrade up.
I started to see her figure as I got on the main street of the capital.
She was now about three stories tall and was still headed in the same direction.

I whipped the reins harder and harder to make the horse go faster.
It was a good thing it was night, there weren’t many people out.
But it seems like she’s avoiding breaking things.
She would reform past any structures so as to not hit them.
Also, it seemed like she knew the city well, she got on the main road and never stopped.
When suddenly a voice called out.
“HEY”
It was Arthur, he pulled up next to me in his white horse to match my speed.
“THAT THING CAME FROM DUKE MARREN’S ESTATE”
I shouted as we rode closer and closer to the girl.
But Arthur didn’t respond, he had a surprisingly angry face on.
“GO BACK NOW!!”
What the?
[Light Speed]
Arthur and his horse both started to glow and sped away from me.
Well two can play at that game.
I hope I do this right. . .
[Light Speed]
The horse and I started to glow as well.
“WOOAAHH”
I suddenly felt weightless and we probably tripled our speed.
It was a struggle, but I tried my hardest to maintain control of the horse.
He was starting to freak out, most likely it never experienced being weightless.
“RRUUNNN”
CRASH
The girl blew through the front gate and continued her way out of the city.
Unfortunately, by the time I got to the front gate, she was gone.
But a trail of upturned ground led me in the right direction.
Huh? What do you know it’s the direction of the holy lake.
