《Beauty Perspective》Chapter 17

Soon Nolan arrived at the entrance to the goblin dungeon. "Why is the entrance shimmering?"
"Master, every dungeon entrance shimmers." Celine replied. "You were a bit distracted when we left last time. The dungeon is in its own pocket of space, the shimmer allows us in and out of this pocket. Until the dungeon dies, their will be a shimmer."
"Do you destroy its core or what?"
"You must kill every monster in it, then it will collapse. But, most would be unwilling to destroy a dungeon like this. Their is a good chance of failing to get out in time. Either the collapse crushes you, or the shimmer goes away. Then you're trapped in the dungeon forever. Also it is still a bit unsure what the limits for a dungeon collapse. Most are unwilling to test them, especially since most dungeons are still valuable to gather meat or materials."
Nolan stared at her for a moment. "Did you read the recently or what?"
She smiled, happy to inform him. "I found a book of compiled dungeon research, it was a bit expensive to buy, so I read a bit of it."
"How much?"
"One hundred gold. It was also an incomplete version, since the complete one would never sell if you could just read without paying."
"Yep, that is a bit expensive. Also, that answers a question I was starting to have. It make sense that it would be an incomplete version to get you to buy it."
"Master, I believe most of the books on the shelves are incomplete versions. It made a lot of sense when I checked a few we already have."
"Alright, let's go inside. If we put it off anymore, I'll probably end up going back to our room." He then stepped through the shimmering entrance. Let's go in deep. I feel a little paranoid, but I want to make sure we can talk in privacy."
A few hours later they stopped. "Alright, this is good enough. Let's talk about a few things. If you don't want to talk, feel free to let me know. Okay?" They both nodded. "Alright, how did the two of you become slaves?"
Celine spoke first. "Master, I was born a slave. The slaver had me do work around the shop, till Fred bought me for five gold. I was with him for almost two years. He would always take easy quests or with a group. I was only used for scouting. I am twenty three and very happy to be with you."

"Um, you didn't need to tell me all that."
"I wanted you to know my past. Also, aren't we discussing this stuff here, because we need to know each other a bit more?"
"Sure, you can tell anything you want about yourself. I just didn't expect that you would want to."
Lina stepped up and spoke. "Master, I was a willing slave. Some years ago, their was a large dungeon break. It caused many tribes to suffer greatly. After the monster horde was defeated, I volunteered to be sold to save my tribe. The slavers used me as a guard. Later, I was sold to Tom. He used me as a warrior. I was with him for a few years, till I met you. I-I am twenty eight and also very happy to be with you."
Nolan smiled at her. "Wow, your older then me by six years. You know, I've always had a thing for older women."
"I-I'm glad, master."
"Celi-." Nolan stopped when he noticed Celine scribbling something on paper. "Celine, what are you doing?"
She paused to look at him. "I-I'm writing important details."
"Like that I like older women?"
".....yes."
'I don't know if I should be flattered or annoyed.' "Okay, you both know that I'm from another world. There, slavery is mostly gone, at least in my country. I grew up with my dad and his dad. I hunted animals a lot. Till I got sick and died. I'm twenty two and very happy that you two were in the group to find me."
Looking at Celine, she was scribbling a few more things. "Alright, we know what the guild tests are. Celine, do we need to know anything else?"
"Yes, the first three ranks are the beginner ranks. F is for chore like things, usually meant for children. E is for heavier lifting and a bit of magic. D is for killing monsters, guard work and greater use of magic. Like healing magic.
"The next three ranks, are considered the experience ranks. Basically, the higher your rank, the more time and experience you have in doing this stuff. We would need to start at D-rank and do a few quests for three months, before we can become C-rank. B-rank requires at least a year and A-rank requires five. You have to go up one rank at a time. It ensures that people have taken the time and effort to be trusted with dangerous and even important quests.
"Lastly, their is S-rank. S-rank is usually a party of A-ranks that can be considered a rank greater than others. They are highly respected. Then their is an S-rank adventurer. They are respected and feared. They are powerful and tend to be wealthy. When a disaster happens, like a dungeon break, C, B and A-ranks will be required to help. They will be compensated afterwards. S-ranks will be requested, but not required."

"Good, that is very good to know. But, what is a dungeon break?"
"A dungeon break is when a dungeon gets so over populated, that the monsters rush out of the dungeon. Almost all of them will leave the dungeon and usually do one of two things. One, scatter and spread out. Two, form a horde and destroy whatever they find. Hordes tend to move towards populated areas. Rarely, some will move into another dungeon. Making the dungeon even more dangerous."
"So some dungeons will have more than one kind of monster, because of this. Sounds interesting."
"Master, some dungeons change from C-rank danger to A rank danger because of this. These types also grow faster and send raiding parties to pillage an area and return to the dungeon. These types are guarded and watched for this. Only letting in appropriate ranks to enter."
"I see. Then we shall avoid these types. Let's go to the guild, register and find some appropriate quests."
Nolan turned to leave, till Celine stopped him. "Master, aren't we supposed to return to the slaver after we register?"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry, I kinda forgot. Also, you should get dressed first."
As Celine undressed from her casual clothes, Nolan looked away, but glanced at her often. "Master, why are looking away while I undress?"
"Because, it seems inappropriate to stare at you while your changing clothes."
Celine smiled. "So it's more appropriate to pretend to not look, but steal glances when you think I won't notice? Doesn't that make you a peeper?"
"I'm sorry, I should probably give you some privacy." He turned to leave and a hand grabbed his shoulder.
"After our fun at the tavern, I would think you would take this chance to watch me. Do you not like my body, master?" Celine sounded hurt, but her eyes had a playful look. "You said that you consider us your lovers, but you don't want to look at me."
"I-it just seemed wrong to invade your privacy." Nolan panicked, unaware of her game.
"But master, we are your slaves. We have no privacy if you want." She then looked away. "I'm sure if it was Lina, you would look at her. You would even ravage her and love her. But, I am just a rat."
"But I-I-."
"She was your first, you hunger for her body and even said that you wanted her for being older." She paused to sniffle. "What would you want with a disgusting rat like me?"
"Celine, that not true." Nolan grabbed her and looked her in the eyes. "I don't find you disgu-, wait." He noticed she wasn't crying, she even had a slight smile. "Were you messing with me?"
"Yes, it was fun. Do you want to continue?"
"What do you mean continue?"
"Well, everything was going smoothly till you stopped. You were supposed to tell me how you think I'm beautiful, and then you prove it by making love to me here. Roaming my body, kissing me everywhere." As she talked, her face turned red. "Then you would make love to me till morning. Proving how much you love me."
"Sounds like the script of a romances novel. Also, it's already morning."
"W-well, not everything is perfect, but it was going the way it was supposed to."
Nolan stared at her for a few moments. "Are you trying to reenact a romance story?"
Celine looked away, embarrassed. "Maybe."
Nolan let her go with a sigh. "Lina, let's go. We will leave her to get dressed, so she doesn't get distracted."
"Master, c-could I stay and talked with Celine in private? I wish to ask her a few things."
Nolan looked at her and noticed that she was looking away. "What do you want to ask her?" 'I'm not sure if that would a good idea or not.'
"Master," Celine quickly jumped in. "Their are some things that women are too embarrassed to talk about with men. Could you please give us some privacy. I'm assure you, you won't regret it." The last part was said in a flirtatious way.
"Fine, I'll wait at the entrance for you." 'Maybe I will regret this, maybe not.' "I'll trust that you was scheme something that will trouble me."
"Don't worry master, I'm sure you will be happy later."
Nolan walked away as they talked in hushed voices. Even with his hearing, he couldn't catch enough to understand. "Welp, I guess I'll find out tonight."

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
