《Beauty Perspective》chapter 18

As Nolan walked towards the entrance, he heard noises. He followed the noise until he rounded a corner. He looked out to see a fat goblin laying on the ground. 'What the hell is going on.' Soon something started to escape from the lower part of its body. "Wow, I didn't know that it was female. I thought they just popped up. Well, I'm not killing a baby and it's mother, right after birth. That just feels wrong." He then continued, quickly, to leave.
After exiting the dungeon, he sat down to read as he waited. 'Alright, to use magic, I need to concentrate and move the mana in my body. Focus. Focus. Focus.'
"Hey, you alright?"
"What!" Nolan looked around and saw five guys in front of him. "Where'd you come from?"
A tall one bald one spoke up. "We've been standing here, trying to get your attention, for five minutes. Something wrong with your hearing?"
"Oh, sorry about that. I was trying to concentrate on my mana. Did you need something?"
"Yeah, have you seen three people pass through here?"
Nolan looked at them closely. They all looked like bad people. The obvious gangbanger from a movie, type of people. "Why? They owe you money or something?"
"Yeah, something. He took something that doesn't belong to him. We're here to get it back."
"Okay, so their thieves. What's in it for me?" The bald man stared at him. "What, it's obvious you intend to kill them. You're going to make sure they can't do it again, right?"
"Help us find them, and we might not hurt you."
"Really, I help you and get nothing?"
"Just tell us where they went."
"Fine, they went into the dungeon. The guy said something about the monsters all being dead, so they have lots of privacy. They seemed like a weird group."

They walked towards the dungeon, as the bald guy called out. "We'll remember your face if we get any trouble later."
'Yep, I'm killing them. I wonder if they have any decent stuff?' Nolan waited a couple minutes and followed after them. "A killing I shall go, a killing I shall go. High ho a merry oh, a killing I should go."
... Nolan quickly ran through the maze of a dungeon, to reach Celine and Lina, before the five guys. "Ladies, sorry to interrupt, but we've got company. Five guys came looking for us and I think they want to rob and kill us. Are you both okay with killing people?"
They looked at each other, then to him. "Yes., master."
"Alrighty, let's go hunting."
"Master, how did you get here before them?" Celine asked.
"I waited for them to walk in first, then ran through the tunnels to get here first. They kept walking."
"They must be idiots. Also, why do you sound excited to kill them?"
"Well uh, it's like reading an awesome story, and you now can live it." Nolan said.
"I see. I understand, master. Do you also want to eat their hearts?"
"Are the both of you okay with that?"
"Of course. That is you ability. We should capture one to find out who sent them."
"Good idea. Let's grab the tall bald guy. He seemed like the smart one."
They then went to look for them. Nolan soon heard goblin screams. "This way." They ran to the goblin noises. Soon they found the group fight with a couple dozen goblins. "Kill everyone, but the bald guy." They then charged in and killed the men and scared most of the goblins off.
"Now, is baldy alive?"

"Yes, master. I've got him." Lina raised the unconscious mans body.
"Good job, Lina." Nolan walked over to pat her on the head. "Good girl. Now, Celine, go through their stuff. I'm starved, so I'm going to eat some goblin hearts. Lina, let me know when he wakes up."
About an hour later, they gathered everything of value, in one spot. "Okay. We've got knives, swords and a few clubs. Anything else?"
"I found twenty seven silvers and twelve coppers." Celine said while holding up a small bag.
"Master, I think the man is waking up." Lina piped up behind him.
"Finally, now let's see if I have any skill in torture." Nolan said with a creepy smile. He moved over to the bald man. "Hello there, why did you want to kill us?"
The man looked around, as he struggled in the ropes that Lina had tied him up with. "If I tell you, will you let me go?"
Nolan pulled out a knife and grabbed the mans hand. "It's impolite to ask a question, rather than answering my question. Maybe I should cut a finger off."
"Wait! It was Mary, Mary!"
"Why?"
"She wanted us to get the staff. We keep everything else as payment."
"Any proof?"
"... no?" He hesitantly answered.
"Alright then." Nolan then slashed the mans throat. He struggled on the ground, as he chocked on his own blood. "Well, that was disappointing."
"Master, did you want to torture him?" Celine asked.
"A little bit."
"Then why didn't you?"
"It seemed wrong to torture him, when he told us what we needed. Besides, I don't want you two to think less of me."
"You're going to eat this mans heart. Shouldn't that concern you more than a little torture?"
"Hmm. You've got a point, what fo you think Lina?"
"I think you're to concerned about unimportant things. We should be planning on how to kill Mary. She has sent men to kill us. We should respond and break her neck." Lina replied calmly.
"We can't. We have no proof. Let's just eat and think of something later." Nolan then carved out the bald man's heart. After he ate it, he waited a few moments.
'Ding'
(Congratulations, you've eaten your first human. You are officially a cannibal now. Since he is a regular human, you get nothing. Better luck next time.)
'Dang it. I thought I was going to get something.' "I get nothing from a regular human. Sounds like I'm gonna have to eat other summoned, if I want something from humans. Let get cleaned up real quick and head to the guild."
"Here, master." Celine handed him a wet rag, to cleanup.
After they cleaned up, they left the dungeon and headed back to town. Nolan explained what happened when he left the girls to talk.
"Master, you saw a goblin give birth? That's wonderful. It's said to be good luck to see monster a birth."
"Lucky me, I discovered a female goblin."
"Master, that wasn't a female. All goblins a hermaphroditic. That's why they reproduce so quickly."
"I see. Gross." They soon arrived to town. Nolan then discovered that it costs ten coppers each to enter the town. They then went straight to the guild. 'Let's see how much luck, that goblin birth gave me.'

Adelaide
The entries here are transcribed from the log of Marie Ruiz, first mate of the Adelaide. It was definitely, definitely not published without her permission or knowledge by a certain lovable artificial intelligence for the purpose of sharing it with my AI friends on other ships who follow it like a soap opera. No way, no how. Remember guys, don’t go spreading this around too much. Only pass it on to those you can trust. God forbid this should ever end up on a public network… (Adelaide is a science fiction web serial featuring the adventures of a crew of smugglers. In space. It’s on the softer end of the soft/hard sci-fi spectrum because the author got a C in physics. Updates every other Sunday.)
