Today Vaan has brought Media to meet his parent as the promised, Media come to Vaan house after she closes the shop and heads to Vaan house and now she has been an awkward situation. In front of her is a hero of the city sit near her and at the side of that man is sit a woman being well known as a sage that masters many types of magic. Vaan who sit beside Media can only feel sympathy for her. Despite her being nervous for the first few minute, but slowly Media start to blend in very well with the atmosphere at dinner together with Vaan’s parent.

During the dinner, the conversation is focused on Media background and also where she learns magic with some of the stories about Vaan himself. Media has learned 3 different elements of magic at the age of 11, her talent in magic far more advance compare to Vaan. Vaan sometime feels like he is a normal boy, even he successful kill Grey Boars in one strike.

“Well, my son I see you have complete all my trials for you, the promise is a promise I will allow you to go there,” says Vaan’s father.

“That good news right Vaan,” Media happy for him.

“But Media, why you agree to help Vaan going to that forest? I think you have known well very well that spirit is not an easy living creature to find and consider the danger at that place.”

“I know, but Vaan has helped my grandmother and her shop by collecting that flower and Vaan is the first person called me a friend here.”

“Heh, Vaan makes sure you protect this young lady with your life, I will kill you if something happens to her. You hear me, my boy?”

After dinner, Vaan has walking together with Media to send her home, during the walk Vaan several time apologies to Media if the dinner was bad or his parent act out of bound. Media says she doesn’t mind to kind of treatment and she enjoys her time with Vaan family. Upon reach Media house, Vaan has told Media to meet him here tomorrow at 9’o clock in the morning.

*Next morning*

Vaan and Media have finished their preparation to journey deep inside Forest Ruin today, Vaan brings a map for navigation and Media in charge of the potion and other support items. From the city to the Forest Ruin it takes around 1 hours, during the journey to their destination, they encounter with several packs of a wolf but the beast easily being defeated by Vaan and his sword skill. Media has kept her mana in check for worse cases scenario, Vaan also agrees to use Media skill to give last finishing touch to strong monster only.

“Where you plan to find the spirit Vaan?”

“Let us go to the center of this forest, hopefully, we can find one there.”

Vaan refers to the map he brings with him to find the shortest path to the center of the forest. Along the way, Vaan and Media found several types of plant that can be used in the potion and also some herb. They minimize their use of strength by avoiding an unnecessary battle with the monster inside the forest by hiding behind the tree when they notice the presence of the monster lurking nearby. Not long after that, Vaan and Media reach the center of the forest; in the middle of the forest has some sort of magic circle on the ground.

Vaan walks to the center of the magic circle and stands still there.

“I wish to make contact with the spirit”

Then the big tree in front of Vaan split in half where a giant lizard has appeared from it. Media ask is that a spirit he mentions before, Vaan quickly answers of course that not a spirit. Both of them prepare to fight but the giant lizard roar to its full strength and shaking the forest, Vaan start the battle by slash its feet with his sword and only deal minor damage and Media begin shooting out several of Aqua Lance toward the lizard and also deal minor damage. The giant lizard swings its tail around and breaks several trees around it but Vaan and Media manage to avoid that attack, knew that Vaan and Media don’t have the strength to deal damage to its big body the giant lizard try to step on Vaan using its front feet.

When Vaan jump out to out being stomp by that lizard feet, it’s giving a head-butt to Vaan on the air which causing Vaan to send flying and hit a tree behind him. Media quickly tend to Vaan wound in order to reduce his pains; Vaan has being throws out few meters from the location of that giant lizard.

“What should I do, I can’t let that lizard eat Media. I need to protect her.”

“I see that you having a trouble, human from another world.” A strange voice speaks from a distance.

“How you know, who you are, can you help me? Just please protect Media from that monster.”

“Oh, you still care about your friend even near dead.”

“She is my first friend and I won’t let her die on me.”

“If that so, then let me lend you my power. Just wish then you will gain power.”

Vaan realizes that something has happened in his body, he feels much more powerful than before. Vain remember that he just need to wish for power. He still in the confused state, should he trust the voice he hears just now but he has nothing to lose anymore then he closes his eyes and starts his wish.

“Under the light and in the dark, grant my wish to see the true path.”

Hearing Vaan wished, his left eye has changed in color to the color of yellow with the mark of a clock. Vaan takes a look at the giant lizard that moving closer to their location and some pop out came out in front of his eyes, it just like the status screen but this time it showing the information about the monster he fighting with.

Ruin Lizard – living in the Forest Ruin, high stamina, defense, and attack but lower in speed

“Media, that lizard weak is against fire magic. Use your fire magic and attack it”

Media listen to Vaan order and attack using fireball spell when Media spell hit the lizard it begins to roar in pain and try to run away but Media who notices that use her second spell from fire magic which is flame wall to block its path. Vaan also joins the attack using his fire arrow and manage to give a direct hit, knowing that is no escape the Ruin Lizard dash toward Vaan to eat him alive. Media shoot out a large fireball and flying toward that lizard and Vaan use Iai together with Media fireball and slash the lizard with a single strike.

Vaan has learned new Fire Magic – Flame Enchantment.

Vaan and Media hug together and rejoin with their battle because that is the first hardest battle they even face in their life. Suddenly a small light floating around Vaan, but Media can’t see that light. Vaan tries to touch it but it moving and spin around Vaan body.

“Look like you manage to defeat that beast using my power young man.”

“Are the voice that I hear just now?”

“Yes that is me, I heard you come here to make contact with the spirit, right.”

“How did you know, who are you exactly?”

“I’m Varias the spirit of knowledge, just now you have been using my power and win the battle.”

“You are the spirit, I surprise that you are so small.”

“Forget the small detail, let us make a bond shall we?”

“Really, you are willing to make a bond with me.”

“Yes.”

After that, Vaan body begins to shine and then return to normal. Media who is watching that moment can’t avoid feels worried about Vaan condition, Vaan explains the situation on what happened to him. Media just smile and believe in Vaan because she can’t see the spirit with her eyes. Both of them decide to call it a day and return to their home. Vaan reaches home and tells about what happens to his parent, they are shocked to hear their boy able to defeat that large monster with only help by of a single mage.

Vaan has created a bond with Varias, the spirit of knowledge.
