Without any plan for today, Vaan only spends most of his time to learn about his ability. With the help of Varias now he can understand his skill even better, Vaan realizes each time his fight in battle some of his stats will increase and other will stay at the original point. But he doesn’t plan to go crazy and seek for a random enemy or going to hunt monster in the jungle just to make him stronger, to him that is suicide thing to do.

Vaan plans to go and help Media with her store and herb gathering but according to Media grandmother, she has returned to the city of Vismuld yesterday morning. Media just leave a piece of note telling Vaan she had to return to her parents because she has something important to do. Separate with his first friend, and Vaan feels empty and loss in idea what to do after this. It first time he feels that kind of feeling and doesn’t know how to handle it.

Several days past, Vaan only doing his basic training without leaving the house until one day his family receives a letter from the king of the nation, tell that will be an event for the princess in the castle a few days from now. His father and mother have to be present at the event, so they will bring Vaan together this time because Vaan has become a boy with a good attitude and proper manner.

“This will be your first time meeting with the king and the princess right Vaan, well just be yourself there,” says his father.

“Well, you need to learn how to be socializing with other my little boy Vaan, this will be a good opportunity for me to show off my son,” says Vaan mother.

To prepare for the incoming event in the king palace, Vaan has dedicated himself to studies about the proper attitude when face the king and princess by the help of his mother. Vaan also find out the city he lives now is under the territory of the kingdom name Vious, the king that ruler, the kingdom is Victor and queen Viuow. They have been granted a single princess by the name of Virtie, the beauty of the princess is well known despite not many noble has seen her face because the king has given the order to hide his daughter until she reaches a certain age.

The day of the ceremony has arrived, Vaan and his family departure to the castle to meet the king’s family, upon arriving at the castle Vaan can see there are many royal guards watching over the gate and inspect each person who going to enter the castle. But because he is born in the noble family, they have been a grant an exclusive path to enter the castle, the event being held in the garden there Vaan can see there are nobler come the from different city and also several people from the ambassador of a different country.

“Well, is that the hero of kingdom Sir Gaia is it?” talk a noble with a fat body.

Vaan’s father has stopped a noble from continuing his talking, and Vaan realizes that noble want to arrange his daughter married with Vaan, that why his father gives cold shoulder to that noble because that fat noble try to treat his only son like tools for gain fame. Gaia really hates those kinds of noble, but he keeps a barrier to that hatred because of his position and family. The parties begin with an arriving of the king and the queen but the princess is nowhere to be found after king greeting all his guests then he comes to greet Vaan’s father. Both of them don't shake the hand instead hug each other like a close friend, Vaan doesn’t believe his eyes, but his mother says Gaia and the king have been together in all war and there are few times when Gaia save the king lives in battle.

“Vaan how about you go to child side, let your parent has their talk right now.”

Receive order from his father Vaan goes to the child side to eat and drink. There he can meet with other noble kid, but he cannot blend in with their arrogant attitude. Each one of them only talking about how good and powerful also wealth their family is and some will begin to fight just because of that reasons. Vaan only stands on the far away side and enjoy himself with food and drink, Vaan also notices there is a maid that serve the food to the noble and for child side, a girl around the age of 8-10 be used to serve the food.

Vaan tries to avoid any unnecessary problem with other noble sons until certain case happens in front of his eyes. A young maid girl has split a juice on one of the noble sons, all his friend laugh at him because his cloth has been dirty. The maid girl has asked for apologies and bows down her head to the ground, but that noble son gets angry and steps on her head. Still not enough with that, he draws his short sword out and tries to behead that maid on the spot but Vaan acts fast by grabbing that boy's hand and throw of his sword to the ground.

“How dare you stop me from punishing that ugly bitch? says the noble son.

“You have been acting out of bound just for that cloth, I will pay for the damage and I hope we clear this mess up.”

“Who do you think you are, I the son of count Alsir, cousin to the princess you dare treat me like this?

“Sorry but I don’t know who you really are and I could care less about that either.”

Count Alsir son dash toward Vaan with a sword in his hand, before that sword cut Vaan, Vaan has given that boy a gift with a kick on his face. Realize that he cannot defeat Vaan alone, he gives a signal to his bodyguard and 3 young boys come and ready to attack Vaan on the order from their master. Vaan doesn’t want any other problem, so he closes his eye and the moment he opens it again Vaan has to release a serious killing instinct and that sensation has made those 3 boys piss in their pant and start to cry.

“That will be enough kid, please stop with you’re playing and continue to eat and be friendly okay,” says the king himself.

Vaan nods his head and goes to help that maid girl who is bow down his head, Vaan takes her to his place where he eating and offer her some of that food.

“Why do you help me? I just a dirty servant and do not have anything to offer at you,” says the maid.

“Well, I can’t ignore when someone is about to be killed in front of my eyes you known.”

“But you are noble and I just a maid, we are not the same in status.”

“If I throw away my noble status and you throw away your maid rank, are we, not just a human and humans are all equal right?”

After listening to what Vaan has said, that maid's face turn into red and she cannot face Vaan directly, then suddenly she runs toward the king and hides behind him. Vaan, who watching that can’t believe what has happened, that girl whispering something to king’s ear and after that king look at Vaan location and start to smile on his face. Next, the king called Vaan’s father to his side and talking about something, Vaan’s father just shock and shake his head left and right then he calls Vaan to go to his side and meet the king.

“Listen very careful Vaan, the king and I have been discussing something about your future,” says Vaan’s father.

“Vaan actually, the maid you help just now is my princess and because of you brave action, my daughter has fallen in love with you,” continue the king.

“So will you marry our princess Vaan?” says the queen, who joins in the conversation.

That maid girl, repair her hair and her cloth and right after that, in front of Vaan standing a girl around his age with the beauty that can be par with the goddess. Vaan becomes speechless with that situation, and he looks into his father eyes. His father then, whispering something into king ear then the king once again smile.

“Vaan I will not force you to marry my princess yet, but you will be engaged with her until you reach a mature age and you learn to love my princess back. Until that time both of you now is a fiancée,” declares king to his guest.

Vaan still can’t process the thing that happens now and his father and mother just laugh together with the king and the queen. They leave Vaan alone with the princess and goes to have a drink as a new family. At Vaan side, the princess comes and talks to him with a soft voice yet show courage in her eyes saying something.

“Please take care of me from now on, Vaan-sama,” and princess closes her face with her hand.

Vaan just smiles and don’t know what to say back, he just finishes drink juice that he is held for a long time and gives a look at princess' face. Vaan thinks in his mind that he might be the luckiest guy in the world or maybe the unluckiest guy.
