“So me matey, what can I do for you?”

“I need to know where the Warpers gang is, they stole something from my client.”

“You realise that the Warpars ar just a secondary parrty, they steal for hiarr.”

“I know that, I just need to find out who they stole for.”

George took a throwing dart from under the bar.

“Stand aside, throwing.”

A patron looked over as George hurled it at the city map on the wall, which was behind the patron’s head. Luckily the patron ducked

“THE HELL GEORGE!”

“Ye get free grogg, Happy?”

“NO, YOU JUST THREW A DART AT ME! I WON’T JUST FORGET THAT IT HAPPENED!”

“Ah, whatevar ye wankar. Any how Sam, the dart landed on their headquarters.”

“And if it didn’t?”

“Then you throw the bloody darrt.”

“HEY GEORGE, DON’T IGNORE ME!”

“Just take ye grogg matey.”

George threw a bottle at the complaining patron, and hit him on the head with it.

“See you later George.”

“Ay, matey, ye didn’t pay for the grogg.”

“I’ll pay you later.”

“Ye bettar, or I’ll bill your wife.”

“You know she would make your life hell right?”

“Aw, come now. She can’t be..”

“Look up St. Alexander’s case, she was defence. Also you said it was on the house”

“I think I’ve heard of that one. It was about the accusation of a suspected murderar. Turned out that the accusar was the actual murderar. AND I said that the grogg was on the house, not the information.”

“Ok, see you around George.”

I tossed him an antique coin

“Ya know they don’t accept these at the bank anymore right?”

“I figured you’d figure out how to get rid of it.”

I left George’s restaurant, the Sunken Ship, and went to find the Warpers.

The Sunken Ship bar and grill, the best place seafood, burgers, soup, poisoning VIPs, and information in the Undercity. George opened it after he retired, deciding to use the cooking experiences he had to use. Of course, he only has one living employee because of his ability.However,no matter how shady he is, the information is top notch.

While KAI is the brain of the city, George runs the information,which is probably why his restaurant is a neutral zone in the city.

Undercity is split into zones, each zone is the territory of a gang or family. The center of the city is the Command Center, which houses KAI’s cpu and the Force field generator.

The ring around the CC is split into three zones, one is higher class housing/residential, another is City Business, and the third is State Agriculture. The next twenty rings are filled with miscellaneous things, with every third zone in every ring being dedicated to agriculture. The farther away from the CC, the more zones, ring one has 3, ring two has 6, ring three has 9, etc.

The dart landed on the 15th ring, in the 23 zone, not the farthest from the CC, but close enough to know if there are troops on the way.

I open my file of the Warpers on my way to the Ring Transport; which is the transport to get from one ring to the next.

The Warpers are an elite group of thieves who have access to short warp drives. They use these drives to go through walls, security, long falls, and other things. The other thing they can use with these drives is very very short ranged psionic portals to warp away cargo. Their operatives are fast, nimble, and usually low mortality. Though the warp drives take a stupid amount of psionic energy to activate, and an even dumber amount the heavier the object is. The selection process to become a Warper is actually easy for higher leveled people, just steal a warp drive, and activate it to go ‘home’. Succeed, you get in. fail, well expect to never see the light of anything ever again… cause you are dead.

Why do I know this seemingly useless information? Because it’s my job… and I have file about them.

As I was about to purchase my ticket to go to the 15th ring, my phone buzzed with the most annoying ringtone ever…

(no I won’t put it in, to save time, and because you know the one.)

I always have set ringtones for each caller. Family, upbeat. Business, straight up old phone. Friends, soothing. Current clients, Jazz. KAI, Annoying song that makes you want to tear your ears off.

Normally KAI can’t call me because of the amount of water between us. This is not the case in Undercity, where he is the internet connection.

“What is it KAI?”

“You said that you were looking for the thieves?”

“I did, I confirmed that it was the Warpers and where they are, why?”

“Because half of the stolen things just showed up on the market.”
