Chapter 3: Getting a new roommate
When he saw that it was only 8 AM, he decided to get up. AS he looked around the room, he noticed that on the other couch a girl, who seemed a bit short, was peacefully sleeping. She had long brown hair and pretty face. Her body was could still use some development. As Remy looked at her, he noticed that she was quite skinny.
Thinking back to last night, he realized, that after the orphanage closed down, she was on her own. She was suffering from malnutrition. Remy no longer thought about it and stood up. He stretched body a bit before heading downstairs. While he was walking downstairs he thought to himself, “Damn, guess I am not as small as I used to be. Sleeping on that couch is a killer on the back now.”
When he reached downstairs, he saw Alex pouring coffee in the kitchen. When Alex heard footsteps, he turned around and smiled to Remy, “Hey, you are up already. Did you see the dream again?” Remy was startled by the question but as he sat down at the table, he lowered his head before answering with a bitter smile, “Yea, it isn't happening as frequently as it did in the past but still, it happens too often.”
Alex walked to the table with two mugs in hand, one for him, one for Remy. As he handed Remy the mug, a quite charming old lady walked in from the front room. She was medium height with brown eyes and nearly gray hair, there were some brown streaks still left in it. She was a bit plump but not too much.
She smiled to Remy and said in a caring voice, “Hey, you are back kiddo. When did you get back and why didn't you give me heads up about coming here? I would have made you a hearty breakfast.” She walked to the coffee machine and poured a cup for herself as well. Remy just gave a warm smile as he said, “I arrived last night but I was too tired to go home, so I slept upstairs on the couch in the break room.” These two were the only people he cared about in this world.
They took him in when he had nowhere to go and no one to care about him. The delivery had taken him a total of 5 days. 2 days to reach the place to pick up the package and 3 days to reach the base where the drop off point was. They talked a bit about how his delivery went and if he is excited about school.
In reality, he was a normal teenager if you exclude the fact that he is a Courier who is deeply trusted by the government for his various “achievements”. He had delivered everything from supplies to personal. That included weapons, information, medicine and so on. Since the government knew they could trust him, they used his services a lot. For the government, it was hard to find a good courier, that they could trust.

Currently there was no telling where the enemy spies were, so people who could be trusted were extremely valuable. Also, earning a governments trust was no easy task, so a person, who could pull that off in an unstable time as that one, would also be quite heavily in demand by others as well.
As they talked there for about half an hour, they heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Everyone's head turned to look at the stairs and soon they saw a young girl walk down. She looked at the three sitting at the table and lowered her head before she said, “Good morning, thank you for letting me sleep upstairs. I will go and buy some food before heading to school.”
As she started walking towards the door Erica stood up and said with a warm smile, “Oh dear, you don't need to be such a stranger. Come sit down and have breakfast with us.” Before the girl could refuse the invitation, Alex said as he looked at her, “Remy here will attend the same school as you, and he can give you a lift, when he is going to school. So relax and sit down. In our employment contract it also said that we will cover the food expenses during breaks.”
She struggled to find an excuse, she wasn't used to kindness and believe you have to earn your keep. She thought for a second before sitting down at the table, across from Remy. Erica brought her a cup of coffee and a few sandwiches. Before eating she introduced himself to Remy, “Hello, my name is Sandra Tihane. Pleasure to meet you.” Remy looked at her and smiled, “Hello, my name is Remy Lumi.” They sat there and ate breakfast.
In the meantime, Alex asked how she liked the job of a waitress and what she planned to do for now. She told him, that she would like to work here as long as she could because she liked the atmosphere of the place. Everyone were friendly there was her reason.
Remy was just quietly drinking coffee thinking about the school when he was pulled out of his thoughts by what Alex asked Sandra next, “You don't have a place to stay right, how about you stay at Remy's place until you gather enough money to buy yourself an apartment of your own? You can just pay him rent for the time you stay there.”
Remy's eyes flashed for a second as he thought to himself, “Now then, how will you answer?” Sandra looked at Remy for a second before asking him, “You live on your own? You wouldn't mind me staying over at your place?” Remy was surprised, Alex had told him that she blatantly refused him when he asked her to stay at his and Erica's house.

He didn't expect her actually consider the offer. He gathered his thoughts for a second before answering, “Yea, I have two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and a bathroom. Currently one of the bedrooms is vacant, so I don't mind renting it to you if you follow my rules there.” When Alex heard Remy talk about the rules, he gave him a confused glance. He hadn't talked about any rules yesterday.
Sandra thought for a second before asking, “What rules do I need to follow if I want to rent that room?” When Remy heard that, he started cursing Alex in his mind, “How the hell is this stubborn? She is considering it too fucking easily.” He had thought that she would shoot down the idea the moment it came up but he was very wrong about that.
He took a sip of coffee before saying, “Well, the rules are simple. 1. You are not allowed to go into my room. 2. When you want to bring someone over, let me know 3. Not you or anyone you bring over are allowed to touch my stuff without permission and 4. Do not pry into my private business.” As Alex and Erica heard that, they sighed. They had thought that he was going to place some heavy rules and restrictions on her but instead it had basically been a “You live your life and I will live mine.”.
Sandra thought for a second before asking him, “If I wanted to rent that room, how much would I have to pay for it?” Alex just smiled to Remy as he had understood that Remy didn't mind renting the room but he would rather not if he had the opportunity. “I don't know. How about 100 Krones a month?”
Sandra looked between Remy and Alex suspiciously before asking, “A 100 Krones? Isn't it a little too cheap?” Remy just shrugged his shoulders as he said, “I have bought the apartment not rented it. I only pay for water, electricity and heating in the winter.” Hearing that Sandra understood why the price was so low, it was probably half the cost of water, electricity and heating. She nodded and said, “I agree to the terms. Is it fine if I pay the rent for this month alongside next months?” Remy just looked at her and said “Yea sure, I don't mind.”
Remy causally glanced towards the clock that was on the wall before being startled. It was 10.20AM already. Unknowingly, they had been talking there for two and a half hours already. The opening ceremony was going to start in 40 minutes and they had to be check in with. the homeroom teacher at least 20 minutes earlier, “Ohh crap, it's nearly half past 10, quickly go and change your clothes, we are going to be late at this rate.” Sandra looked at the clock before looking at her clothes.
She was still wearing the waitress uniform. She immediately scurried upstairs to change her clothes, while Alex casually brought over a helmet for Sandra. Remy put on his jacket and helmet as he went to start the bike. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and waited for Sandra. It was 10.28AM when Sandra came running out, dressed in a school uniform, Remy was dressed the same as yesterday.
Sandra put on the helmet Alex gave her and sat on the back end of Remy's bike. Remy just said, “Hold on tight.” and blasted off. It would take about 20 minutes to reach the school from the pub if he followed the speed regulations. At the moment, he didn't care about the speed regulations and blasted off at 100km/h. He needed to reach the school in about 10 minutes so he didn't have the luxury to play it by the book.
When they reached the school, everyone were staring at them. Remy dropped Sandra off at the entrance and said, “I'll go park the bike. Do you want a ride back to the pub as well after school?” Sandra thought about it for a second before saying, “Yea, I got to work the 3 to 8 shift today so it would be nice.” Rmey nodded to her and said, “Okey, meet meat the parking lot after your homeroom ends then. I'll give you a lift back.”
Sandra nodded and Remy went to park the bike. There were a lot of envious gazes towards him from the boys as he parked his bike. He took his helmet off and ran towards the classroom he was shown to be his homeroom when he was accepted to the school.
When he reached the classroom, it was 10.45 and the teacher was just about to leave when Remy entered the classroom. All the gazes from his future classmates were instantly focused on the youth who wasn't following the dress code properly.
He just shrugged his shoulders and thought to himself, “Well, this is not going to be fun.”

For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing.
