《The Life and Times of Fiera Celosis》Talking Business with the Master of Shadows

"So," The man (if she could even call him that) said snapping his fingers that swiftly smoothed his hair, "Let's start with getting an update from you. How are you holding up Fiera Celosis? Your injury is fine? Are they treating you well? Do you have any complaints?"
He found a large beanbag in a corner and plopped on it.
"Why do you want to pretend like you care?" Fiera scoffed.
"I'm being nice to you!" he smiled, "Even if it was not in the contract." He laced his fingers together, raising a non-existent eyebrow at her, "Well?"
"Well, as you can see, I am healed perfectly," she flexed her supposedly injured arm, "And they are fine to me, a bit weird but whatever."
"You couldn't slow down your healing?" his soured a little.
"I didn't want to -" Before she could even finish her statement, he had gotten up with a snarl, his canines elongated and his claws outstretched, just as she swept her sword before her as he tried to make contact. His claws racked the sword and he yelped, like an injured animal, huddling back to the bean bag. "In your lane." she snarled.
"Don't push it, mortal." he hissed at her, retracting his claws and snapping his fingers to adjust his hair again, "Haven't you learned anything?"
"Like what?" she snapped keeping a grip on the sword.
"That you shouldn't let them know the intricacies of who you are?"
"Well yes, but it doesn't matter to these people." she shrugged.
"You have met like, three of them." he pointed out, "You blow your cover, you're done for."
"And I know that okay?" Fiera sighed, "Is this what you wanted to talk about? You made me hold an extremely long conversation with Kai, for this?"

"Not really, although I do think you should give the boy more credit." a devilish grin spread across his face. "The boy has some great things written in his destiny, should he choose to live it."
"Oh, so he gets a choice? But I don't?" Fiera rolled her eyes.
"If it makes you feel better, he will make bad choices. Now let's get to business. The Crown is visiting today, yes?" He rubbed his hands together.
"Yes, from what I gather."
"I need you to ensure she spills her blood here. Preferably with that." He pointed at the sword in her hand.
"You want me to kill the Crown?" she asked confused.
"Of course not." he rolled his eyes, "I need you to spill her blood on these grounds, touched by that sword."
"For what? Do you know I could be executed for that? That is treason!" she hissed, "I swore I would things within the reasonable capacity of what is rational, not this."
"It won't be treason." he sighed, "And the spilling of her blood has two uses."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Her blood is powerful and will be at its peak around this time because of the First Snow. It's spilling on this land will guard it a bit more, than their old protection spells." he said, "My job so far," he made a face, "Has been to protect you, and by spilling her blood, I accomplish half of it. Do you know what it means, when I say I would have accomplished half of it?"
"What?"
"I can go back. I won't be gnawing at you every three days. I will get to be the parent that visits you once a year -"

"You're not my parent -"
"Well, friendly benevolent god, then -"
"You're a cheap chit-chatty consort of the Devil -"
"That I am," he grinned, "And I won't tell you any more about that, because you are still underage. Spill her blood." he met her eyes, and she knew he wasn't lying for all the lies he had, "You will be free of me."
"I understand. But how -"
"I am the god, my job is to line everything in front of you, such that you aren't hassled by technicalities -"
"Is that why my parents died when I was five?" she cut him off.
He ignored her, "There won't be any obstacles. You just need to muster the guts to spill her blood."
"Can't the sword take the form of a needle and prick her?" she asked.
"It did that to a Princess from Wolfsor who then fell asleep for a hundred years. Was a very messy business." he rolled his eyes, "The Top Management wasn't very happy, so they cursed the sword or some such - I am not quite aware of the technicalities."
"So stab it is."
"You'll find your opportunity, mortal." And he melted into her shadow.
Not even a bye. She wondered who had raised him, and sheathed the sword. She glanced at the long bookshelves and wondered if she should go and have a look. She hadn't exactly lied when she had told Kai about her inability to access information from outside, might as well go and take a look.
The only issue right now was that she hadn't paid attention to Kai when he was listing off the genres and topics and the place didn't seem to have a librarian on duty.
She wandered to the shelves, trying to figure out where the Recent History section was because, with the task that currently burdened her shoulders, she would need to know a bit more about the Crown than the fact that she was from the House of the Winds.

Will contain an alternative relationship dynamic (reverse harem, might be some MM and FF. No cheating, no NTR.) To the Creshe Empire, I’m just a number. I’ve spent the past five years in isolation and under study. With my home razed by a Syldrari attack, my mind damaged, and nothing but white walls and a viewing window around me, I dedicated myself to two things: training my body, and reading any book they allowed me to have. The Empire wants me to serve, to use the inhuman power the Incident stirred within me. Technically, they asked, but it wasn’t much of a choice. It never is. Serve, or… I refused to be a mindless slave. My life was taken from me once. Never again. With the Empire moving forward with their xenophobic plans, they needed someone capable of killing Syldrari—and I was just that. A tool they could use, a tool they thought they could manipulate. Needing me was their first mistake. They gave me leverage, I named my terms. Now, after five years, my life can begin.
