《New World +》Ch.4 The forest

Andrew was pissed cursing under his breath as he carved an A then a 1 in to a tree his thoughts drifted back to the conversation he had nearly an hour ago.
"Hey are you the leader of this group? Mine is planning to send out scouts to look for water and shelter and we were wondering if you'd like to join?"
"Sure I was just going to send someone over to see what your guys plans were let me get a list of the supplies we have and we can start discussing our plans."
Or at least that's what a normal logical person would have said instead when he had gotten there the other group's leader a girl he later learned was named Ashley was standing on a pile of discarded bags the actual conversation went more like this
"Hey... uh... my group was..."
"Do you mind were kinda having a meeting here" Ashley interrupted glaring daggers at him
"Y... Yes but my group was going to go scout and..."
"That's fine you can tell me what you find later were making important decisions here and don't need you to interrupt us"
"Ok but..."
"Hey asshole can't you see were in the middle of something we don't have time to go play ranger so fuck off!" a guy he now knew as John had yelled at him as he shoved Andrew. Thinking of the experience Andrew hacked at some native fauna to help define the path they were following. Sighing as he realized his list of things to watch out for now included two more jerks Ashley, John, and the mind controling ass known simple as 'It' Andrew had been some what surprised when he brought up the subject and realized that many others had felt it as well he had been half convinced it was his own paranoia but now 'It' was a recognized problem but seeing as no one knew what 'It' was or how to stop it so they decided to ignore it and hope for the best. lost in thought as the group walked on Andrew considered his ten man team.

he only knew a few of them by name but he was of course acquainted with all of them. he was standing in the middle of the group the four in front of him were Lance, Kyle, Adam, and David behind him were Mary, Jan, Philip, Ace, and Theo? not to sure on all of them.
"This forest is strange" Lance said as they moved forward blazing a trail wasn't something he was unfamiliar with but it was the first time he had done it so primitively the whole group had wooden spears with the tips fire hardened and were using them and some knives to press or break the plant growth around them. "The plants are strange there's hardly any insects or any small wild life to speak of its so quiet" Lance's father had been a hunter and taken him out many time to go camping or to hunt deer so he was used to the sound of birds and buzzing insects but none of that was here moving forward he felt as if the world suddenly shifted in an odd way feeling that it might be this 'It' thing that had been trying to fuck with them since they got here he quickly turned around "Hey I think..." that was as far as he got before it popped out screeching. Lance had a brief second to contemplate the ridiculously oversized chicken before it rammed into Kyle its claws piercing his abdomen. Kyle screamed as he fell but to his credit he didn't faint but started to viciously stab at the bird's belly 'Holy fuck it's trying to kill him' Lance thought dazed unable to really comprehend what was happening.
"GET IT OFF ME, GET IT OFF ME, GET IT OFF ME" Kyle's desperate and pained scream woke Lance to reality 'HOLY FUCK IT'S TRYING TO KILL HIM' his sight started to become red as his heart started to race as he rushed forward. The giant chicken which had been eying Kyle as he struggled under its talon suddenly turned to Lance as its head lunged forward shocked at the creature's speed and reach Lance tried to block the bird's beak but was to slow as it slipped past his defences and struck his chest falling back his spear shaft struck the bird in its chin deflecting the birds attack up so instead of having his heart torn out by the Big Bird knock off instead he ended up on his ass with a large gash across his chest. Taking a momentary break from his near death experience he saw Andrew charging the bird while David and Adam used their spears as levers stabbing into the bird and pushing it up while Andrew charged into it knocking it down Ace and Mark weren't far behind. Scrambling up Lance joined the others as they all dogpiled the confused bird. David stabbed a spear through its head but the damn thing continued to struggle throwing out disemboweling kicks and buffeting with its wings the five of them final killed it. Lance wasn't sure how long it took the bird didn't seem to weaken no matter how hard it was hit or injured until it just suddenly stopped exhausted they all fell away from the corpse breathing heavily the only sounds being their heaving breath, Phillips cursing, and Marry crying.

Taking a deep breath Andrew moved over to Philip as he tried to treat Kyle. Seeing Kyles pale face the others rushed forward to help, it was a gruesome sight Kyle laying in a pool of his own blood while Phillip desperately tried to stitch his guts back in place. A sudden smacking sound shocked Andrew and everyone else as Lance Kicked Kyles head.
"What the Fuck are you doing!" Yelling David jumped at Lance
"He's going in to shock so if we knock him out he'll be fine"
"What" Lances explanation shocked Andrew and he only watched dazed as David tackled Lance while the fighting was going on Andrew could only contemplate how well and truly fucked they were alien world, the mind altering 'It', no form of medical knowledge or equipment, no knowledge about anything really, and last but not least the murder chickens that could take hits to the brain and be completely unaffected. Daved and Lance's fight had turned into a shouting match as the others held them back only Philip shouting at them to "shut the hell up" got them quiet enough to hear Kyle's coughing. Apprehensive everyone turned to Kyle only to feel their jaws drop.
Kyle wasn't having a great day it started with the fact that the last thing he could remember was him getting into a fight with his father something that happens more often recently but this time it was more bitter not that he could remember what it was they were even fighting about. Now he finds himself on an alien planet without T.V, computers, or his family. Then to top the whole thing off it finished with dropping 500 pounds of angry avian on him. Coughing he opened his eyes to see a incredible sight his eyes shone as he saw the swirling golden feathers above him a shining light descended on him and the sky was filled with feathers dancing in the wind reflecting the light he felt comfortable like he was sitting on a cloud.
"Is this heaven" his half-hearted hope was crushed soon after he spoke
"God I hope not"

Exuperius [DISCONTINUED]
Terravest. The northernmost continent of the world known by many names of legend, but is most commonly reffered to as Athora, has, for eons, served as the land of exiles. Human criminals, dark elves, grayskinned orcs and dwarves that preffer mining with machinery over the traditional pickaxe alike, have come to call this half-frozen hellhole their home. It is a land of great strife, calamity and crisis, where one legendary tale ends only to begin the next, heroes fall down and villains find themselves thrown into lava. Around seventy years ago, a legendary figure appeared out of seemingly nowhere and conquered three human nations, forming a kingdom worthy enough of being called a small empire. However, at the eve of his heirs ascension, the legend breathed his last, leaving this same bloated, chaotic realm without the pillar that kept it together. Already, the carrion nobility, still spiteful for being denied their "rightful" place below the sun, rise up and gather at the court, each eager to consolidate their own power in these troubled times. Tempers flare, power is exercised without restraint and no one expects the hedonistic prince to succeed at keeping the realm together. Alas, as is often the case with such tales, not everything seems to be as it might at first appear and the vain lords of the realm may yet come to regret their carrion will. --- The Content Warnings are there for a good reason. ---

You can join my Discord here. Keynes Kid is gifted with a photographic memory and being several months away from receiving Level 1, and a Talent, he finds himself in the center of attention of people who want to shape his Talent. If they can get him an intelligence related Talent, they will hit a jackpot. The Talent Unlocking ceremony finally comes and Keynes Kid receives… Error… Anomaly (What?) His new talent is… useless. Why then does the World Government want Keynes so badly they will silence anyone who knows about his Talent? At the same time... Somewhere in the Universe, ancient beings stir from their slumber, awoken by the system alert and the wall of glaring red warnings. Their greatest fear just manifested and they are hell-bent on erasing it from existence. -------- It is a slow-development story, so you won't find the MC with super powers at the beginning. -------- It is a coming of age story and focuses on a Talent system (in the beginning) with several additions that bring to the table upgrading of a planet’s tier and such (a bit later). There will be quite an amount of rebuilding society as new, unknown resources enter the economy, and a lot of travelling, delving and naturally, unlocking the secrets of the Universe. As for the setting, the story starts in XXI century, which technology-wise isn't much different from what we have now, but it is enhanced by magic associated with Talents. This allowed the humankind to colonize the solar system, but the technology that allows for interstellar travel doesn't exist (yet). Because it’s my first attempt at LitRPG, please be forgiving but constructive. I hope you will enjoy the story! --- Cover by Daniel Gembus https://www.artstation.com/daniel_gembus instagram.com/danielgembus

Only a Demon can Slay the Gods
Gust steps into a world of cultivation and magical arts after his father’s death sends him searching for answers. With his father’s lucky coin in hand, and an indecipherable journal in his back pocket, Augustus Perry stumbles into a world he never knew existed. There, he finds a school of mages who speak of Gust’s father as if he were a long-lost legend. They fear Gust’s world and some even call him a demon. It is only out of respect for the coin’s former master that the mages take him in and teach him their methods for cultivating mana. But how could an immortal renegade swordsman turn into the quiet, withdrawn man Gust always knew? What brought him to Gust’s world in the first place, and why did he never go back? If Gust ever wants to know who his father truly was, he’ll need to embark on the very same quest that drove his old man insane. New Chapters M-W-F. **This is my attempt at western progression/cultivation fantasy, inspired by stories like Cradle, the works of Er Gen, and more mainstream fantasy like the Wheel of Time and the Cosmere books.**

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
