《This Book》Chapter 3: Chrysalis (Thalia)

After a thousand years of doing the same things over and over, you get used to repetition, the constant grind of the same over repeated. I’d killed tens of thousands of demons by this point, that was nothing new, as routine as eating or sleeping. Most missions I had no emotional attachment to what I was doing. Locate the target, destroy it, that’s usually how it went.
This mission was different. For the first time in decades I’d felt something about what I was doing.
I wasn’t hunting for the kill this time. Like everything in this world Seraphs never truly died, but rather reincarnated in a new form. This one, Blue, just happened to be the soul I was closest to. Not just in this form but in all our previous forms. Seraphs reincarnated as humans, so they don’t know what exactly they are until they mature. Their auras don’t read as Seraph until then either so from the point of death to new form to maturity the living Seraphs just have to wait it out.
A couple days ago I’d started feeling that aura, which became stronger as I narrowed down its location. North America, Atlantic Coast, the city called Atlanta, and then finally down to “Peachtree Neighborhood” outside of the city. Immediately I found Blue’s new form near an abandoned church, along with a handful of demon spawn which I easily dispatched. The master was not around, which unfortunately meant I would inevitably have to deal with that later, I decided I’d cross that bridge when I came to it.
After chasing both Blue and a straggler spawn I finally caught up with him and a girl who I’d correctly assumed was his sister. Another complication, wonderful. The hardest part of this process was by far explaining what a Seraph was an why they had to come with us. Bartholomew and Banhi were naturals at this but I… I’d always had trouble expressing myself.

“Who the hell are you and what the hell is going on?” Blue asking the always expected question. So they were a male this time. He and his sister were half Asian half white, were both smaller than me, and wore casual American clothes not unlike the black hoodie and slacks I wore to blend in.
“I am Thalia. ” I said. “Those things were demon spawn. I just saved your life.” It was best to introduce these things slowly. “You haven’t told me your names.”
“I told you this was legit.” The girl said. “I’m Kish, this is Grayson. And I’m guessing you aren’t human, are you Thalia.” Heavy emphasis on the first syllable, coming out as “Thaaaa-lia.”
“I’m not entirely human. I’m a Seraph.” I explain. ” And so is your brother.”
The siblings turn to look at each other, then turn back to me. “Is this some kind of elaborate prank? Did someone in the Leigh LeBlanc community set this up?” Grayson said.
” Who is… ” I say. “No it’s not a prank okay. If you’ll allow me to explain.”
“Actually I’d rather go home and sleep.” Grayson says, starting to droop over.
“How can you think about sleep at a time like this?” His sister says. “We need to go through the footage you got, get some expert opinions, maybe interrogate green haired lady over here.”
“Excuse me?” I say. But then Grayson collapsed to the ground into the fetal position.
Kish kneels down beside him. “What the hell did you do?”
“Nothing. He’s asleep. The body goes into hibernation when it properly matures into a seraph.” I say. “Like a cocoon into a butterfly.
What I didn’t say was how I hadn’t expected it to be this soon. Or how I know had to worry about both protecting him and the demon that would no doubt come straight here

Incursions
This blurb concerns Incursions book 1: Incarceration. If you could buy superhuman abilities, but they might kill you—or worse—would you do it? Ten years ago, in a world not so different from our own, people with powerful abilities appeared. The new powers were dangerous, dangerous to acquire—dangerous to have—dangerous to wield. World governments raced to find and eradicate the abilities and those who possess them while using the media to rule by fear. Whereas corporations sought to exploit the abilities for profit. Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.

blacklight
So here’s the deal: my name is Kihri Vyas, and I’m dead. (That’s not really important, it happened ages ago, but it’s good to have the context.) Anyway, me and my sister Zarah (the only person who can see or hear me) have basically been on our own since I kicked the bucket, surviving on the streets of Kaila and sort of just being miserable and bored and tired a lot. I mean, I haven’t, cause I’m dead, but she has. It sucks, but that’s business as usual for us. What isn’t B-A-U is that a bunch of other homeless folks have been disappearing in the last few months, and some of them have been turning up with anatomically-improbable, but extraordinary fatal, injuries. Cops don’t give a shit, of course, and my sister’s a boneheaded bleeding heart, so we’ve been investigating them ourselves. And, well, we’ve found a bunch of weird shit. Stuff made of solid light, ghost attack dogs, people glowing black, somehow, some kind of living robot… Actually, you know what? It’s probably easier if you see for yourself. blacklight is a modern fantasy story it's not about being gay but rest assured its gay as fuck nevertheless it updates fridays at 2 p.m. AEST on its own site at https://spectrochroma.wordpress.com/ Chapters are uploaded here one week after they finish on the main site.

Out of Touch (BL)
(This story contains love between two men, M/M, BL themes.) He thought it was just a dream... Jonathan wakes up in a strange, ancient world full of evil beasts, corpses, and hunters trained to slaughter them. He quickly realizes, though, that the water is truly cold and the pain of watching the killings is all too real. Thrust into this world by an “experiment”, he’s forced to stay and follow a cultivator familiar with the land, or else he’d be the next one killed. Through his travels, he finds his name wasn’t always Jonathan Cheng. A whole mysterious past awaits him. Bai Yazhu has low spiritual energy from birth, the same as the rest of his family. No longer part of a sect, he roams the land with his partner, performing small deeds for commoners for pay. One day, he meets a dan jiao—usually this kind of beast needs dealt with immediately. But he’s unable to slay it. This thing is not normal. It’s... a human. Someone he knew many years ago. My first wuxia/xianxia inspired story. Slowwwwwwww burn.....
