《This Book》Chapter 32: Invisible War (Zoe)

I had been undercover as George Blackwell’s nurse for five months, bided my time, gathering Intel, finally got the go ahead to kill the bastard, and now the young woman who had inherited his fortune had passed out in front of me. At first I was worried she might be dying, but her pulse seemed okay when I checked it. At any rate I didn’t have time to waste. She was at least easy to drag downstairs, she was only about 5’2 and was probably under a hundred pounds, and load into the trunk of my car. As I closed it I nearly panicked as I noticed another car approaching the driveway. Thankfully they weren’t close enough to see. I decided to play it casual, I suppose my alias would have its use one last time.
The car parked and one of the relatives from the party the other day emerged from the front seat. I recognized him as one of the grandchildren, but I hadn’t bothered to commit his name to memory. “Hey, you’re my grampa’s nurse?” He said, acting like he had any kind of relationship with the man. “What are you doing here?”
“Mrs. Blackwell asked me to pick up a few of her things she forgot.” It was even true. Last night she called from her beach house, it was pure coincidence, but a lucky one, one I intended to use.
“Need any help?” He said.
“Uh no, I’ve pretty much got everything already. But thank you.” I said. “I was actually just about to leave.”
“Alright.” He said. “Call me sentimental, I just wanted to see the old man’s place… One last time.”
A likely story. At any rate it didn’t affect me, so I left him with whatever it was he was doing and drove off. It was about nine hours from here to Virginia Beach, once there I’d be directed to a remote site nearby considered “safe”, although I wasn’t sure such a thing existed with the enemy we were fighting. Even though I know I’d been absolutely discreet, I couldn’t help but worry that they were watching. Perhaps I’d been fighting this war so long that it was the only thing I ever knew. I’d spent my whole life in the shadows, fighting an enemy almost no one knew existed. An enemy that also had the ability to influence everything.

If my mission was successful, if we were able to turn the Blackwell heiress to our side, we’d finally have a way to find our enemy’s weakness. And maybe, just maybe, finally bring down the Seraphic hegemony.

False Prophecy (Prelude)
Everyone knows the Prophecy of the Fated King. Everyone knows of his Six Signs and Seven Trials. Everyone knows he is the one destined to lead an army of soldiers and fae into battle against the spectral invaders known as wraiths. But what if the Fated King failed, and his Prophecy never comes true? What if he was killed surrounded by loved ones and devoted allies? What if he died four years before the inevitable war for our world’s soul? Humanity could not possibly survive without him. Could we? Nise, 107-563 P.R. False Prophecy is a high fantasy saga about a world that loses its chosen one four years before their apocalypse. The Prelude takes place during the five weeks prior to this tragic event, following a husband and father named Kon. When discovered to be a Seer - a human blessed with the power to see and bond with the magical fae - Kon is taken away from his family and conscripted into the Fated King's army to play his part in the coming war. Inspired by Brandon Sanderson's The Stormlight Archive, Wildbow's Parahumans, and countless anime. Disclaimer: FP's Prelude Novel, A Sung Prophecy, is slow burn and character focused. Expect lots of worldbuilding and an extensively large cast.

Bright Battle Story: Tactics Heart
This is Bright Battle Academy. It is not a place where your hand will be held or your failings compensated for. It is not a place for the weak, or the subversive, or the conspicuously diverse. This is Bright Battle Academy, where champions are forged and legends begin. Dwarfs? Once they were part of the great alliance. They helped build this very academy. But they were so stubborn, so unyielding, so unwilling to bend themselves to the rules. And so they weakened, and so they declined, and so their empires faded. What few that are left shun the academy. We have no dwarfs here. Rogues? Perhaps a handful in the sprawl, hiding in the shadows, hoarding their merits, hoping to buy a promotion to something remotely useful, ninja or assassin perhaps. But in the academy proper? No. We have no rogues here. And yet despite everything here she stands. Nala Greyward, Dwarf Rogue. Pettiest of thieves. Unpleasantest of surprises. Causer of problems. So she killed an ogre. So nobody knows how she did it. So what. Throw her in with the real prospects, with the elves and the vampires and the fighters and the magic users. See how she does in that environment--see just how long it is, before the problem that is Nala Greyward solves itself. This is Bright Battle Academy. Good luck. Discord if you're into that.
