《The Hero Transfered Me In Another World》6 - World of Magic

"It feels like it has been days since the last time I was hit by sunlight."
It was mid-day and was welcomed by the bright sun and clear weather. Children were running around and playing while their parents were shouting out of their lungs. The house I came out of was only one of the few same houses I see. The village is quite small since I can see the entrance and the end of the village at the place where I'm standing.
I observed my surrounding until one of the children ran towards me and grabbed my pants while shouting, "Look, it's a vampire."
"What's a vampire?" I asked the child politely but he wasn't able to answer because dozen of kids followed and flocked towards me.
"Waa~ A vampire"
"Die, Vampire!"
"Purification spell"
A bunch of gibberish words came out of these children while they were hitting me. I even saw someone using their Magic although it looks weaker than the crazy old man or Miss Shimomura.
I let these kids continue what they're doing since it doesn't hurt me that much and I rather not do anything that may cause harm. I also saw some parents rushing here to stop children.
"Hey! Stop it. It is disrespectful for the guest." One of the mothers reprimanded his son.
"I'm sorry for my son. His dream is to become a Mage that's why he mistook you for a monster. Not that I mean you look like a monster, but your skin is very pale compared to the normal."
"It's okay ma'am. They are just playing, don't worry about it."
"Thank you very much Guest-san"
I appreciate the apology of the mother but I guess some creatures look like me. I should be careful later on when meeting people in this world. They might mistake me again and it might not be a kid's magic that might hit me next time.
It took some time before everyone disperse and went back to whatever they were doing. Meanwhile, I saw Shimomura walking across the corner and entering what looks like a shop.
I went and followed her through the shop. I can't help but see the big signage on top of the roof.
'Damn. I can't read it at all.'
It seems like what was written is the name of this shop. I can speculate from the sword and shield beside the words that this is a smithy or some sort.
I entered and hot air immediately greeted my face. Different types of weapons and armor were displayed on the walls of this shop. I noticed there were only a few swords type weapons and more on cane-shaped weapons(?)
I grabbed one of the displays and examined them carefully. For some reason, these canes are the most elaborate and expensive-looking among all. They don't even look like they could kill a rabbit with this.
"So you're already up Silva-san."

I was surprised by the sudden voice behind my back. Looking behind, it was just Shimomura with her usual friendly face.
"That staff is used to amplify Water Magic by at least 20%. It is one of the best creation of Jo-san"
"So this shop is run by the crazy old man... Speaking of the devil."
Coming out of the forging room, Jo Shiro was walking towards us with a hammer in his hand.
"The brat is awake, huh... If you came here just to apologize, don't bother. " Jo Shiro snatch the staff in my hand and placed it back to where I took it.
'This old man really pisses me off.'
"Hey, I didn't come here for you old m-- Mr. Jo. I only want to ask Miss Shimomura something."
"Hoho~ Seems like my daughter has another bastard falling for her. Looks like you didn't have enough discipline yet."
There might be some confusion of some sort because the crazy old man began to cast his magic once again. Good thing Shimomura was able to stop him before I turn to a fried demon again.
"Uncle! Don't embarrass me again. Stop acting like a child and behave more of your age."
"But Kiyo-chan."
"No buts! Silva-san may have a different reason for coming here. If you only listen before you start throwing fireballs everywhere, there would be less trouble to deal with."
It appears to be Shimomura has power over Jo. It feels good to see the old man being scolded by Miss Shimomura, but I should not try to be on her bad side or else I'll be the one in the position of Jo.
I watched the old man have it. He keeps sending me glare throughout the scolding however, Shimomura saw it then reprimanded him more. Not until a while did she finish her lecture to her uncle.
"I'm sorry about that Silva-san. My uncle is always like that. So, what did you want from me?"
I explained to her how I want to learn Magic. She carefully thought about it while the old man Jo keeps snickering on the side listening to me.
"It's too late for you to learn Magic. You should just practice swordsmanship to cover for your ass."
Shimomura didn't take his remark seriously. She carried on with her thought process and said yes to my request. She asked me to follow me outside so I did, leaving old man Jo to sulk in his smithy.
She led me to the biggest building in this small village. It might not be that majestic but it has two floors, unlike any other houses or buildings that can be seen.
When we entered this tavern, there were a lot of men shouting, singing, and drinking alcohol. I guess it's alcohol because one of the guys starts confidently stripping on top of the table with his face flushed red.
"This is the Adventurer's Guild. It is the best place to begin a story or start a journey. Although, we are here because they have an apparatus to determine what Element of Magic you are most capable of.

I walked behind Shimomura and observed the people present. It seems every working-age member of the village was currently here.
There were a few who carries a sword and resembles the warriors I know, but the majority were all carrying staves and dressed up with robes and light clothes unfitting for any type of physical combat.
This place is the same as the guild back in my home except of course on the Magic part. I doubted the status of swords back there in the smithy and here I confirmed that the way of the sword is unpopular or should I say, greatly look down upon.
"Hey, you useless meat shield. Move out of the way before I'm going to freeze your metal stick."
One of the robed women shouts towards the iron clad person. I can't tell if his or her because of his/her helmet. I'm assuming she's a woman based on her small build.
Nonetheless, no one cared about this scene like it is an everyday occurrence. Even the swordsman just moved aside and let the woman pass through.
"It's normal for mages to be haughty in front of those who are weaker than them especially swordsmen." Shimomura read my mind before I can even ask.
"They think using physical force is a barbarian way of fighting but I don't think that way if you're wondering."
The swordsman appears to have noticed our gazes on her hence she glared back in response. It didn't stop there since she slowly moved towards us with heavy footsteps caused by the armor she was wearing.
'Why is she approaching us? Maybe she thinks both of us look easy to bully. I don't really want to cause any trouble now although it may be a good opportunity to gauge the battle prowess of warriors of this world.'
As I was thinking of ways to deal with this situation, Shimomura remained calm beside me.
"Being mocked again, Yukio?"
"Hahaha! It would be more unusual if they don't, Shiki."
Both Shimomura and Yukio, the swordsman, have a friendly exchange of words. It looks like they knew each other very well based on their tone.
"Who's this pale looking guy beside you?" Yukio asked with a hint of discontent.
"Let me introduce you. This is Silva-san, the one that I mentioned who was unconscious near the inner forest.
And Silva-san, this sword freak right here is Nakata Yukio. He may look like this but he's already considered an Apprentice Mage."
"Apprentice Mage?"
"Oh, right. You don't know." Shimomura remarked realizing my lack of knowledge.
While Shimomura was talking, Yukio removed his helmet revealing the pretty boy face he has. The blonde hair and blue eyes paired with his fair skin don't really match with the attire he currently has. It would be difficult to imagine him slashing enemies around with a sword.
'If I saw him without the helmet, I'll probably still mistook him for a girl. Even the Humas princesses of my world look fiercer than this guy.'
"Don't say that Shiki. Apprentice Mage doesn't mean that much compared to people in the capital." It was Yukio who answered.
"Stop comparing yourself to them. You're one of the Besides, you chose to use sword even though you have the talent to be a great Mage."
"Hahaha! No matter what you say, I'll never change my mind. You know how much I hate Magic"
Both of them start having a conversation on their own while forgetting me. It feels awkward to be standing here silently while those two talk non-stop.
"Ahem..."
It doesn't seem they will stop anytime soon so I fake cough to take their attention specifically, Shimomura's attention, back to the main reason why we went here.
"Ahh~ Sorry for the long wait Silva-san. I got a bit carried away."
"No problem. It's just that, I got many eyes on me." I said while observing the people around me.
During the exchange of Shimomura and Yukio, everyone's gazes have focused on us, mainly me. It's just like the kids earlier, it may be their first time to see someone like me.
'I should probably hide my skin. I'm getting attention anywhere I go.'
Shimomura noticed the glares of those people. It didn't take long before Yukio also noticed so we moved towards the second floor where we were supposed to go in the first place.
While we were going up the stairs, Yukio asked, "Why did you come here in the first place?"
"I'm here because I requested Miss Shimomura to teach me Magic."
"No offense but you're very unusual in appearance and history background."
"No offense taken. I was like this since the day I was born and for my history, I'm afraid I can't tell much." I answered Yukio's questions while excluding the part where I came from a different world.
"You're an interesting guy. Well, I wished you walked on the path of the sword but if you're here, I doubt that you're interested in it." Yukio said with a dejected face.
"Nah, I've got some experience with the sword. If you want, we could exchange some pointers later on."
"Really?!?!"
My response made him smiled back. He seems to be an honest guy. Maybe I got the wrong impression of him earlier when I was together with Shimomura.
"You found a really good guy Shiki."
"Keep quiet you two. We're already here" Shimomura reprimanded both us. (It's probably Yukio she said that too.)
We have reached the place where I'll be tested for my Magic Aptitude.
