《Nephilim: Beyond Good and Evil》Chapter 39: Death

Resting against a tree sat Emi who held onto Shizuka. Her hand comforted the young girl by running her fingers through her locks. Shizuka had calmed down a lot now that the others have arrived on the scene, but she was still worried.
"Emi... are your friends going to be ok fighting that scary monster...?"
"Yeah. There's no one stronger than them.'
"What if that monster is stronger?"
"Even if he is they'll find a way to beat him."
"I hope so... I don't think I want to do this anymore. It's been scary. I don't like the Angels, but, I don't want to do all of this..."
"I know what you mean. When I stared that thing in the eye I saw nothing but emptiness. Its only purpose is to destroy and there's just so much more to life than that..."
"I agree."
"I don't want to do this. I'm not going to release anymore seals. We shouldn't have done it in the first place..."
"I'm glad. Thank you, Emi!" Shizuka hugged her tightly.
"Things haven't turned out good for any of us so far. I hope that'll change..."
Back on the battlefield, Eli was measuring up the horseman known as Death while Ira tended to Terios. Eli was a bit nervous knowing how his powers worked. All it took was one touch to wither Terios' arm away.
In a quick rush he moved in, closing the distance before he sent a fist flying toward the monster. Reacting, Death caught it and with the fist in his clutches he could do what he did to Terios. However, Eli had something else in mind.
"Divine Explosion!"
Eli swung his other fist which was coated in his aura into the head of the horseman causing a great white explosion. The energy sent him sliding back and leaving a path of smoke in his way.
"That'll hold him off for a bit!"
"Eli! We need a way to stop this guy dead in his tracks!" Ira shouted.
"He has to be killed in order for the global influence to stop."
"Maybe not. Maybe there's another way to beat him." Terios mentioned.
"Is there a way to shatter his bones?" Ira asked.
"If my last attack didn't scratch him then there's no way we'll damage that."
"My Twilight Flames is our best bet."
"What's that?" Eli asked.
"It's a combination of dark and light flames, combining the two energies to surround someone in unbearable heat."
"Just do that then." Ira said.
"I can't... I used it already and I haven't recovered from my last battle.."
"Ira I'll stall around. Transfer your energy into Terios.'
"Got it!"
Ira's eyes began to show a light grey glow as he rested his hand on Terios' shoulder, his white aura surrounding his body.
Death emerged from the cloud of smoke, walking unharmed as he hurled his sword for Eli. The blade spun around until it would reach its target. Eli managed to grab the blade by the hilt before he charged with it. Maybe the blade would be able to harm him.

He swung the blade across into the arm of the skeleton and found it to be useless. The horseman of death reached a hand out to latch onto Eli's throat before he sent a few fists into his stomach. The blows were staggering and caused him to cough up blood.
"Look into my endless eyes because they'll be all that you'll see from now on. Nothing but darkness." Death spoke.
Eli looked elsewhere, but before Death managed to do anything a splash of water formed which separated the two. Eli landed on his side as he coughed and struggled to breathe. Death merely looked annoyed.
"Eli. Fall back Terios is fully charged."
"Thanks Eli. I'll take it from here!"
This time, I'll make sure to finish him.
Terios held out his right hand as strands of tendrils fired out, moving to snag onto Death's arm. Death struggled himself, but managed to latch onto the shadow and began to reel the Nephilim in.
I got you now!
Terios began to channel his energies together which stared a spark of twilight flames which started to travel toward him. It was slow as Terios must had exhausted the move. He was being pulled closer and closer along with the flames until...
A hand reached out to grab onto his other arm. The flames had just now engulfed Death's body, but he was planning on finishing the Nephilim here and now. He could feel his arm withered away just like the other one until it was like the other one.
"Agggghhh!"
The flames didn't appear to be doing much of anything. In fact they soon burnt itself out leaving Death still in one piece. Terios clenched his teeth as he soon fell to his knees and could feel it was becoming harder to breathe.
"Terios!" Eli and Ira shouted as they went on to try and help, however they were stopped when a purple figured formed among them and soon took the form of Akihisa.
"Hehehehe! Don't go sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Akihisa stared at the two before he tilted his head over to watch the dying Terios.
"This guy again!" Eli shouted.
Eli charged in clenching his fist as he sent a punch flying in his direction. Akihisa avoided it and grabbed onto the side of that arm before he sent a fist flying into Eli's gut. He would then release a burst of his energy which released a purple stream which sent Eli soaring back onto the ground.
"Eli! Damn it get out of my way so I can save Terios!" Ira shouted as he caused the ground to erupt with an intense force of water.
The water caused Akihisa to soar through the sky before he simply forced the water to fade away. He changed his intention toward the one known as Death and landed next to them where he would then grab onto the being's arm which held onto Terios.

"Who are you?" Death asked.
"I've always wanted to meet you. I'm a huge fan of what you do, it's just that this one is mine to kill and mine alone."
"Akihisa...?" Terios struggled to say.
Akihisa caused the being's hand to light up with purple before it began to crumble into dust, freeing Terios from its wrath along with the horseman to back away slowly.
"You're something else." Death went on.
"That's right. Unlike the others my power was simply meant to destroy. You are no different."
"You underestimate me."
"No. That would be a compliment."
Akihisa caused his purple energy to spread through the ground around the horseman causing the ground to hold onto him. Now that he was in place he walked to him and placed a hand onto his head.
"Rest easy now. With your destruction more of it will be assured on this planet."
He said before his energy flooded the creature causing it to revert to dust while he laughed hysterically in the process.
The area released a large stream of black energy into the sky which signaled that the seal had been broken.
"At this rate father will get his wish." Akihisa said.
"You're crazy..."
Akihisa sent a kick flying, knocking straight into Terios' face which sent him lying on his back. His arms were already useless so he was pretty much defenseless. To add insult to injury Akihisa stepped on his face with his shoe while looking at the other two.
"Why do you all insist on trying to prevent the unavoidable. This world is going to end along with all of you heroes. If someone wants to make it happen sooner what gives you the right to interfere?"
"The world doesn't have to end today and that's why we're going to stop Azazel's plan." Eli said.
"Frankly I'm not ready for the world to end, I still have a lot I want to experience. So this plan isn't chill at all." Ira said.
"I have too many people I care about to see go. We'll decide when the world ends not you!" Terios shouted.
"Hehehehe! Gyahahaha! Don't make me laugh!" Akihisa slammed his foot into Terios' face a couple of times. "This is all a simple game. It has been for eons. When I absorbed my father I took in all of his memories. I know the truth behind the world and at first I was lost. But, deep down I knew it from the beginning. I was preparing myself to handle it."
"What did you see?" Eli asked.
"I saw everything! My father's lived along time and! Arrrrrggghhhhh! It's sometimes too much!" Akihisa finally moved away from Terios before he approached Eli and Ira. "Our entire lives our meaningless just know that. There's really no point to doing anything. That's why death is something I look forward to."
"You're crazy! Our lives have plenty of meaning because we mean something to someone else." Eli stated.
"You won't mean so much when you're dead, hehehehe! You're risking your lives to save people? I just don't get that."
"What's not to get?" Ira asked.
"People die everyday and so often that it just doesn't matter anymore. They can be replaced and forgotten so easily!"
Akihisa charged for them wasting no time in the process. Ira fired off multiple streams of water, but Akihisa just altered the molecules of it and reduced it to nothing. When he came into contact he altered the density of his hands and began to rapidly strike Ira with a frenzy until he delivered a palm along his chest to send him back.
"Why would I possess the powers of a god? There's no reason to grant me with this. It's pointless!"
Eli sent a punch directly into Akihisa's face causing him to fall onto the ground.
"Is that all you got?" Akihisa said before slowly picking himself up.
"No. Have this!"
Eli swung another fist, but Akihisa altered the molecules of the air around him to create a super dense field to block the punch. After it was stopped he slowly moved his hand and fused it into Eli's chest, reaching through all of his organs until he came into contact with his beating heart.
Eli grunted out in surprised as he felt his hand inside of him. "Terios... you need to do something."
"Yes brother. I'm not afraid to take his life right now. His death will be on your hands and you know I enjoy causing you as much pain as I can!"
"I won't let you...!"
"Tick tock. Tick tock."
Terios slowly got up, his withered hands dangling from the side as he clenched his teeth in pain.
"I'm coming Eli!"
There was nothing Terios could do with his arms like that. Akihisa was in a dangerous mood and grew bored of the game. To up the stakes, he pulled Eli's heart out from his chest and revealed it for all to see.
Eli's expression gave off one of fear and horror which seeing one's own beating heart would do. Terios grew frantic and started to beg Akihisa.
"Please don't do this! It's me you're mad at don't take it out on him! Akihisa!"
Akihisa's fist clenched tightly and crushed the heart of Eli causing blood to explode out everywhere and leaving his hand a bloody mess. Eli's eyes widened before they went lifeless his body went numb and he immediately fell to his knees before falling onto the ground with a loud thud.
"How does it feel to lose somebody close to you? Hehehe?"
