《Nephilim: Beyond Good and Evil》Chapter 41: Memorial

Terios carried his friend Ira's body as he walked along the path of the graveyard. The ominous feeling that they encountered before was long gone, but there was still a sense of underlying sadness.
Emi lifted her head up as she saw the two and wondered where Eli was. Deep down she knew, but she didn't want to believe. She wanted to believe in the best that he had survived the encounter.
"Where's..." She couldn't even say his name instead she looked down at Shizuka.
"He didn't make it." Terios said firmly.
"It's all my fault."
"No one is to blame. Things just happen."
Emi continued to look down while Terios rested Ira gently on the ground. His transformation had broken away from him some time ago, but he was still feeling trained from the amount of energy it took from him. He felt himself hit the floor before he blacked out.
When he came to he was back at Kodomo's house resting in one of the beds in the guest room. When he awoke he lifted the covers off of him and sat up on the bed, placing his hands against his forehead before he decided to head back down.
When he reached the lower floor, Setsuna rushed over to hug him. She had been worried about him since he never showed up home and came over to Kodomo's place.
"Terios. You have got to stop getting yourself into trouble."
"I don't think I'll be in anymore trouble, personally."
He glanced around the room to notice Kodomo who was playing a video game on his flat screen. He waved to Terios when he caught him looking.
"Kodomo. Where is everyone?"
"When they heard about the bad news they all left to do their mourning."
About Eli, right.
"I'd give them a few days to cool off. Until then you wanna just play some games?"
"I think I'll pass. I should be getting home with Setsuna."
"Suit yourself. Remember I still need my house to be fixed."
"Yeah, I'll have my parents get you set up in a hotel while this place gets fixed."
Walking home with Setsuna was the moment of quiet time that Terios needed. He had been through so much during this year. His expression took on a saddened one which Setsuna happened to notice.
Seeing this she wrapped an arm around his waist to comfort him. He smiled for a moment as he looked back at her before he wrapped an arm around her as well.
"I'm sorry about your friend."
"Thank you, Setsuna. That's very kind of you."
"I don't like seeing you this sad. You were never this sad until you became special."

"Probably. But, I've never been this happy before either."
"You're right. I like it when you're happy because it makes me happy."
"Happiness is something we have to cling to in this kind of world. I always want to protect my happiness. I never want to let that feeling go and become something like..."
He pictured his brother Akihisa for a moment. A man filled with complete emptiness, a hallow being inside and out. One who would always be questioning the meaning of his life and the meaning of others. His brother would always be seeking some kind of purpose. It was a sad state to be in.
"Something like...?"
"Nothing."
That night Terios stayed up for awhile thinking about Eli and how he was taken out of this world in an instant. It happened so fast before he could even blink he was taken from the land of the living. He sighed and turned around onto his side, laying there silently.
The next morning, Terios awoke. He hadn't gotten much sleep, but thanks to his heritage not much sleep was needed. Today he just needed to get out for a bit. He needed a break from all of this and wanted to be a human for today. Being a Nephilim was great, but having to save the world from uncertain doom was becoming stressful. Even more stressful than school, well maybe not that far.
Walking along the streets he took a good look at every person that walked by him. They were all different kinds of people. Shy, confident, obsessive, reserved, egotistical. Each had their own flavor and none was better than the other. It's what made someone a human.
Terios decided he'd just take the time to watch the scenery. He stopped by an ice cream store and ordered plain vanilla ice cream cone before he walked over to a nearby park. When finding a bench, he went over to take a seat and started to lick his ice cream.
When he was finished chewing on the cone he saw two squirrels messing around with each other. Their bushy tails was so cute and fluffy.
His eyes glanced around the area when he felt somebody's divine energy approaching him. He wasn't expecting anyone to be around here and especially not another Nephilim. Suddenly, he realized that it was a familiar face.
"Emi?"
"Hey Terios." She said softly as she took a seat next to him.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"No not at all."
"I just wanted to make sure I let you know how much I appreciate what you did for me back there.
"Don't mention it. I hate to see people die for something like this. That's what I was trying to tell Kazuki."

She looked down after hearing her brother's name and nodded. "I wish I could have done more for him as his sister. But, he was so much stronger than me."
"He was pretty strong. But, you managed to stay alive when fighting that thing. That proves that you're just as strong."
"Maybe so. I feel bad for Eli so I want to do something nice for him."
"What did you have in mind?"
"I wanted to have a celebration in honor of everything he stood for."
"That sounds like a good idea."
"Can you help me?"
"I'd love to."
Behind Kodomo's house everyone was gathered around a personal graveyard for Eli which had a framed picture of him. There was various bouquet of roses to honor his death. After awhile Ira something he wanted to say about his best friend.
"Thanks everyone for being here. Eli was one of my best friends and it's so not chill to see him go like this. Someone as kind as he was doesn't deserve to die, but unfortunately its often those kinds of people who end up going first. We can't forget what Eli wanted to accomplish in this world. For everyone's sake he wanted people to get along no matter where they came from or what race they were. He wanted humans, Angels and Nephilim all to be able to live together in harmony. He fought hard for what he believed in and that's what I respected most about him. It's hard to believe that I'm never going to see my best friend again, but he's going to live on. I promise that he will live on." Ira finished up as his eyes got a little bit watery. He wiped his face before claiming that he had something in his eyes.
Setsuna and Akemi were also there to show their support even though they both took death on a bit differently. Setsuna wasn't one to show emotions most of the time and had to kill people for a living. While Akemi probably didn't care either way.
Kodomo went over to comfort Ira along with Akari. He wasn't taken it so well but who would take losing your best friend well?
Terios stood by himself and stared at the picture of Eli before he wandered off elsewhere. The feelings inside of him were at risk of breaking out.
Elsewhere.
A young man with red hair walked alongside his girlfriend Misa. The two had known each other since high school and were a couple for a long time now. It was dark around Tokyo as night was showing.
"We better get home, Raanan. It's getting late and my parents are probably getting worried."
"Very well."
The two walked past an alley and a guy whispered out to them while pointing a gun at them. He signaled for them to come inside to which the two were forced to do. Once there he ordered for them to hand over any kind of money they had.
"Please don't hurt us! We'll give you the money!" Misa shouted.
Raanan didn't make any movements. He simply watched as Misa handed the guy all of the money in her purse, but the guy wanted more. He grabbed her by the arm and slammed her against the cement wall while pressing himself against her.
"Hahaha! I wonder how your boyfriend will enjoy watching his girl get fucked by another guy!"
"Please no...! Anything else but that!"
Raanan saw as he had the gun pointed to her head.
"Any sudden movement from you and I'll blow her brains out."
Seeing enough Raanan took a single step forward and the guy froze for a second before pressing the gun into her head. Seeing this Raanan simply spoke.
"Come here."
The man found it weird that his body was listening to the man. He found himself lose control as he approached the red hair male and stood there watching him.
"People like you disgust me. Your way of doing things is so vulgar. I'll kill you, but I won't be getting my hands dirty."
"What?"
"Take the gun you have there and shot yourself in the head."
The man found that his hand with the gun went directly to his head as he began to plead for his life. "Please! I'm sorry! I'll never bother you again! I swear!"
"Hmm? Really?"
"Yes! Please let me go!"
"Sorry. I have no use for you."
In an instant a loud gunshot was heard and the male's body fell to the ground with his head severely damaged from the point blank shot. Misa cried out as she turned to look at her boyfriend. She didn't know how he did that, but she was thankful.
"Thank you, Raanan! Thank you so much!"
"You're weak."
Raanan approached her and stared directly at her before he moved his hands to clutch around her throat, increasing the pressure until she began to squirm around and struggle.
"Do you want to know what would have happened if I wasn't here? You'd have been raped! The thing I admire most in a person is there loyalty and you broke that. You're nothing to me now."
He released her from his grip and walked away while hearing her gasp and cry in pain. When he exited the alley he looked up at the sky before smiling.
