《The Novel's Unifier》Chapter 7 - Gluttony (2)

The two were still walking, when they felt the Dungeon shake. "She's free," Danny said, hurrying the pace.
"What'll happen when she gets to us?" Ronny asked. Danny looked at him, pitifully, but didn't answer his question. Nevertheless, Ronny took that as an answer. "Oh... I guess that was obvious." Danny nodded.
The pair had rushed to the innermost chamber. What greeted them was a large room, filled with carcasses of different Monsters. Danny couldn't hold his stomach at the sight, but Ronny kept his mouth closed.
In the middle of the room was a dais, holding a single tooth. That tooth seemed to be releasing a menacing aura. Though Danny did not feel it, Ronny was shivering. But Danny laughed, much to the dismay on Ronny’s face. After all, he had found an Artefact. An item that gave a Gift to the owner. Although, the Gift fully depended on the Artefact.
To be honest, Danny had skipped through most of the descriptions of things, places, people, etc. because of how boring it was. But, the Artefacts he paid attention to because of how important a role they played. And the fact it was explained, over, and over, and over again, until it was beaten into his subconscious.
Danny stood next to it, not daring to touch it. He didn't know if it would kill him instantly, if he touched it, so he asked, "What does it do?"
Just like he thought, he got a message, though it was very short.
[Tooth of The Veximok - F-rank
The more you eat, the stronger you get.
Absorption Rate - 79%]
For a second, Danny wondered why it was F-rank. But then he realised it said nothing about what he could eat. He wouldn't be able to eat Monsters, an abundant food source, unless he got a detoxifying Artefact. He was still stuck on the Absorption Rate. But since he didn't know, he ignored it.

The tooth looked like it would fit as a canine tooth. So, holding onto his own canine tooth, he ripped it out, blood splattering everywhere.
"Aah!" he screamed, holding his jaw in pain. It was horrible, ripping it out in just a moment.
Then, shakily holding the other tooth, he put it in the empty spot. Instantly, it grafted onto his mouth, covering the open wound. The pain soon subsided.
"You," Ronny stammered, unable to hide the horror on his face. "You're insane."
"Correction," Danny said, barely a whisper. "I'm desperate. Now, have any food?"
Another rumbling, much greater than the last, stopped Ronny from answering, as he tried to stay standing. Danny had a little bit of an easier time, thanks to his stats, but it still wasn't easy.
As soon as it ended, Danny threw his sword against a web holding a Monster.
It landed with a massive thud, spreading dust all around. Danny hadn't waited for the dust to go away before he leapt in, landing on tough skin. Danny dug his teeth in, barely able to bite even a small bit off.
He hadn't wanted to do this, but he was really desperate. There was barely any time from when he swallowed to the appearance of Gluttony.
"You!" she screamed, seething with rage. She jumped at Danny, though it looked as if it was slow motion.
He saw the notifications, not from the screen of the phone, but right in front of his eyes.
[Strength gained: +4.50 (Temporary)
Stamina gained: +2.32 (Temporary)
Agility gained: +6.88 (Temporary)
Perception gained: +7.0 (Temporary)]
Gluttony's leap seemed to be taking hours as she got near, though Danny wasn't waiting for her to land.
He unsheathed the sword, using a barely practised motion, cutting cleanly through her body.

Almost immediately afterwards, he spat out blood, and felt his body go weak.
There was a message, though he couldn't even move his arms to open it. All he could do was sheath his weapon, though he fainted as soon as he did it.
Ronny couldn't believe what he just saw. He couldn't even believe he was in a Dungeon, still, yet he was supposed to comprehend this? "Unbelievable," he muttered, standing in a daze.
The daze lasted for what felt like an eternity, until he finally snapped himself out of it.
He wanted to run, to leave August here. But he knew that was a selfish, and foolish, thing to do.
He would be found out, and then he and his friends would all be executed.
So, begrudgingly, he picked August up, then moved towards the entrance.
It took much longer than when they were moving in. Even without something to tell the time, he knew.
He was carrying August on his back. Although it felt weird to it with another boy, he did it anyway. Because, if he was holding him in a different way, it would've been slower. And August's condition was bad. It seemed like black blood flowed through his veins. A telltale sign of eating a Monster corpse. But it also seemed to be poisoned.
Ronny had seen this happen a couple times. He hadn't seen a single person recover from it, though. But. still. He couldn't just leave him there.
Even though Ronny knew nothing about where August really came from, as no one spoke about it, he knew that he came from an important family.
Disrupting his thoughts came rumbling from August's stomach. Just then, Ronny remembered he had brought some food, though basically just a slice of bread.
So, placing Danny on the ground, Ronny took out his food. He opened Danny's mouth, flinching at the tooth that seemed a different colour than the rest. He held onto the end of the bread, pushing it into his mouth. Then, he picked him up, and kept moving.

Trials of a Magic Core
He was brave, and noble, and true. He was also a hunk of crystal floating in a magical circle, brought into existence by the self-styled "Greatest Magus of All Time" to be his personal intelligent magical encyclopedia, filled with every minutiae of the arcane this Magus could stuff into it, all ready and accessible at a moment's notice. But is simply knowing all there is to life? Can he strive for more? Should he? (Writer's Note:) I'm a pretty new writer, so expect delays, errors, inconsistent logic, plot holes the size of a small 4-wheeled vehicle, and a distinct lack of snark. At least from the MC. Also, yes, the cover is an image I made in paint. I have...NO artistic skills. It is a placeholder. Also, I came up with this idea in the shower after a nine-hour RRL binge. SO BEAR WITH ME.
