《Captured》Chapter 2 - Growth Spurt

“Aren’t you afraid of me?” I said as I stared her in the eyes. She giggled and patted my head; my eyes widen and my jaw drops. “You just... Touched me?” She starts to laugh, and I mean snorting and falling back onto the BLOOD-SOAKED floor. Is this woman insane or my type because I have no clue? I watched her carefully as she sat up and cleared her throat “Sorry, it's just, you don’t get any affection, do you?”
“No, people are too busy poking me with guns and needles,” I sigh and grab the torn up straight jacket, then I pick her up over my shoulder, she yells and laughs, guards enter the room, guns at the ready, and I ignore them. She waves them away and then reluctantly leave. I set the straight jacket down on the ground neatly and gently set her on top of it “So your dress doesn’t get dirty...” I say as I sit in front of her, my face gets hot, and I check my forehead. She tilts her head.
“What are you doing?” she asks as she moves my hand “My face feels hot...” I look up at her and She giggles “Your blushing!!” Now I tilted my head “What's blushing? Am I sick?” I sat up and messed with my hair as I got worried about being sick. “No, no, you're not sick, it's perfectly fine.” She reassures and I look at her, “What is that” I gestured to her clipboard. She smiled and placed it on the ground in between us.
“These are a record of your behavior and things you have said. Also, your height, weight, name, birthday, all that good stuff.” She giggles and looks up at me “And I think it's safe to say you are no longer 5’11, lets measure you. Stand up please.” I stood up and went over to the wall, I straightened my back, and it was as if I grew an extra foot.

“Wow, ok, you're REALLY tall...” she looks up and hands me the end of the tape measure, I pull it up to my head as she pulls it down to the ground “You definitely had a growth spurt.” She looks at the tape measure in astonishment, “when was the last time you got your height measured?” she looks up at me “About... two years ago” I said shrugging, I remember it was my twenty-second birthday. “Why, did I shrink? I'm trying to make sure I stay talller than Natalia.”
“No, you grew two feet, your 7’11 exactly.” She wrote quickly in neat cursive on her clipboard. I nodded and kicked one of the metal cuffs on the ground by accident, then started cussing up a storm. “A-are you ok?” She stifles her laughter as she pokes my arm with her pen “Yeah, just fine,” I say through a strained voice as I walk the pain off. I groaned and lean against the wall as I make sure my toe wasn't bleeding or something.
“There will be no need of these,” she points to the cuffs and was looking at the window. The cuffs retracted into the wall by the chains, and I let out a large sigh of relief. Then I sit down, she sits on the torn up straight jacket. “What are you doing? I thought you were done; you can leave now.” I did not mean for that to come out as mean as it did but, it worked.
“Alright, I suppose I shall leave Mr. Bishop... Though you will have to put up with me tomorrow!” she smiles as she stands up. She then goes to the door and before she leaves, she drops a couple of papers and a pencil. Then the door hisses shut. “What a klutz...” I mumble as I go over to the papers, I pick them and the pencil up and read “Try drawing to pass your time instead of painting your cell with blood,” I laugh a bit and sit in the corner, I take the pencil in my hand and slowly start to draw.

I sketch a head, then a chin, then shoulders. I was thinking of drawing Natalia but, I spaced out. When I came back to reality, I had drawn Dr. Emily. I get flustered and ball the paper up, then regret it because it was a good drawing. I sigh and curl into a ball. “What is this, my face is hot and I’m acting like this. It Is not good, that no-good doctor made me sick...” I grumble and sigh. "That's the opposite of what they are supposed to do, isn't it?"
I pick up the crumpled drawing and stand up, I walk over to the glass and open the slot. “Any of you white-coat assholes judge my drawing, I will slaughter you and burn this place down.” I growl as slide the paper to the other side. I feel the paper get pulled out of my hand and I take a couple steps back.
I pace back and forth a bit in my cell and sigh from boredom, then a paper comes through the slot. I walk over to it slowly and flip it over to see what it says. “You're an amazing artist Mr. Bishop, signed Dr. Emily,” I look in the glass and see that my face is red across and to the tips of my ears. “This is proof she has given me some sort of virus, and now I’m going to die.”
I put the paper back through the slot and grumble “What’s the antidote to this virus you’ve given me?” I bend down to peer though the slot. I jump back when my eyes meet hers. “For the last time it isn’t a virus!!” She yells, I wince once my ears start ringing loud and the alarm goes off. The lights in my cell shut off, leaving me in the darkness. I sigh and sit down in the corner and slowly fall asleep.
